I’m so sick of Spine Chill!!! Can it please deactivate during a chase!!! 🤬🤬🤬
It’s bad enough that SWF have free reign to piss away gens every time somebody else is in a chase. But that almost every fricken survivor can make every loop last forever, even when the killer is running it the “right” way, because the survivor always know where you’re going/looking is absurd!
Spine Chill needs to be WAY more conditional than it currently is. Anything in the killers arsenal that allows them to know exactly where a survivor is via notification or aura is HIGHLY conditional, either via hefty cool down, small window of time, or some other heavy drawback. Spine Chill on 3 or 4 survivors is just 2 or 3 free gen repairs because every chase wastes that volume of time at NO COST or NO PENALTY to the user of the perk other than simply equipping it. The damn perk needs a drawback, or cool down, or more stringent activation requirements!!!

Increases vaulting speed by 6% when the killer is looking at you.
"Make part of the perk description not match the functionality of the perk."
23 -
Spin chill is fine if you suspect it you can play around it
4 -
How?
They know exactly when mind gaming, and what type of mind game is being attempted.
2 -
It’s a completely redundant ability of the perk. It reduces vault speed from 0.5 seconds to 0.47seconds. A whopping 0.03 seconds. It may as well be removed from the perk.
1 -
so then why are you complaining about it?
5 -
I’m complaining about survivors being nearly impossible to catch at many loops with LoS blockers. And on some maps that’s a LOT of loops.
1 -
Spine Chill makes stealth killers irrelevant, insane how underrated this perk is
7 -
But mah vault speed build, on a real note not a single person on this god damned earth actually looks at their perks during an active chase. Mind games are still very much doable and this is coming from a myers main who's power is hard countered by this perk
8 -
For example on T L walls if you don' t see the red light and the perk lights up you know they are doubling back so you don't vault
If you don't see the red light and the perk doesn't light up it usually means the killer is hiding it's light by looking away and is very likely to keep going so you vault
I think that's what the op means in a nutshell. Probably gets worse the longer the loop is

If you would have read the thread carefully, you would have understood that OP didn't complain about the speed increase as that is almost useless in a chase, but about the free info about the killer position and direction he is facing, making mindgames significantly harder for killers and easier to counter for survivors, without a drawback/cooldown/condition to activate.

Bingo

how many people DO run spinechill?
usually I'm (and maybe some new players) the only one with it when playing survivor...
1 -
People who use Spine Chill just to compensate for Vault build simly dont realse the potential of it. I run this perk now for at least 1k hours and its by far the best looping perk, miles ahead of anything else like Dead hard or Iron will.
@TheClownIsKing i hate to say it since it is my favourite perk overall, but you are right with everything sayed, the perk is simply overpowered.
condition? Make that it does not work when you are injured.
1 -
I see quite a lot of spinechill. I use it in some of my builds.
I agree with OP, spine chill gives you waaaaay too much for so little.
1 -
Are there really survivors who are able to use Spine Chill to predict exactly what mindgame the killer is attempting? I’ve never known of anyone to actually do this, considering that in chase you need to be watching the killer and planning your route, it seems kind of unlikely that there are hordes of survivors with quick enough reaction times to pull this off.
I feel like it’s much more likely that they either can see you, guess what you’ll do based on how you play, or just happened to guess a 50/50 correctly. If I’m wrong though and Spine Chill can actually be reliably used in chase, someone send me a video tutorial because it sounds like a powerful chase tool.
10 -
it can still be played around if you suspect it to be in play and even be used to an advantage
1 -
I use Spine Chill a lot. I also use a lot of stealth killers.
Spine Chill is fine.
5 -
But how?!
It simply doesn’t make any sense. You still need to be looking at a survivor in order to hit them.
0 -
I find it interesting how so many people run this now and how so many survivors run ahead of time and just hold W making you waste as much time as possible if you want to chase them.
It’s very effective but when I learned to play survivor the meta was to sit on the gen until the killer is in your face and then worry about the chase. I’m one of those people and kind of always expect most survivors to do that like they used to but a lot of people are playing differently now.
This new generation scares me.
1 -
I very much see the perk lit up in the corner of my vision at necessary times of the chase. Spine chill is so good because you can predict killers very well based on just their los movement. Great against nurse and any old killer that bases there whole strategy on monitor and abuse. The distance you can maintain with spine chill is unmatched by any other perk. The extra gen speed, vault speed, and gate speed leaves so much to be desired with all these other mediocre perks. Spine chill is easy mode.

you can scare survivors off generators. it's a bit of a gamble, but it can work (especially when you have perks that work with what gens being worked on/being stopped being worked on).
also, and this is absurd: even when running spinechill i have witnessed people just not looking around for the killer, cause they only use it for the boost, not to actually... not getting knocked down. (like, sorry, but i don't even run M&A on slinger, if you have spinechill AND i'm able to walk up to you, you are doing something wrong)

This perk needs to be reworked it's clear.
Disabled on stealth killers, or 20 meters is fine. 36 meters is much too much especially when the survivors work in team (the lookout)!
But anyway I have the impression that this perk will be a little useless. When all the maps will be reworked, I say "useless" because the sneaky killers are asking for trees, foliage, shade ... and from what I could understand on Youtube from a video of the PTB it's the jungle! Freddy's map is the jungle too, it's the same for the new maps that are coming, and it's perfect for survivors against normal killers, but very dangerous against the stealth killers ! Spine chill gives info about the killer in clear maps, most of the time the killer is very easily spotted, but with the rework it's over, the survivors will spend more time looking around now.
It's the rework of the maps that will become very boring... Trapper, Spirit, Hag, Wraith, Pig, and maybe Gorgon for the portals, finely Ghostface... I tell you all, the game is going to be a REAL challenge for everyone !
Resiliance + Spine chill = OP looper

People hate Fixated because a part of it only works while healthy. Adding the healthy requirement to Spine Chill would be a dumb move.
1 -
Spine chill is fine.
5 -
YaY another SC complaint. I´m with you that it needs some tuning. Not much though as this perk fills a rather important niche. Just slightly reduce its effectiveness.
0 -
That’s not the problem.
Did you read?!
I’m talking about loops with LoS blockers being impossible to deal with when survivors run Spine Chill
0 -
The perk does have drawback because it's a guessing game in so many places on which direction the killer is coming from, just because spine chill procs doesn't mean the killer is on you either if it's the game, midwich they could be downstairs chasing a survivor to your direction while you are upstairs it's irrelevant to blame a perk for your inability to capitalize in certain situations when it doesnt show your aura or do anything OP and if it's not a stealth killer you know if they're coming anyway because the heartbeat, but with all the undetectable options available spine chill is meta now and it's solely on the killers for forcing a playstyle that people are now adapting to
2 -
Yep i would love fixated soo much more if they removed the stupid requirement its not like im gonna power walk away whilst the killer is chasing me whilst injured, yet i refuse to run sprint burst without it so i just gotta suck it up ironically i also bring spinechill(as well as vigil) aswell, underrated perks for the win!

I get what you say, but it simply doesn't help for that imho. It tells them if I'm facing towards them, but it doesn't tell them were I'm going. In the example you make, even assuming spine chill triggered which I'm not sure of because I think it would be outside of the detection cone, I can still show up moonwalking from the direction where they "don't see the red light".
OP is saying that. I've heard that argument before many times, but I've never seen anyone showing an example of how spine chill could 'detect' a mind game. As I said above, looking toward something =/= going toward or even away from something.
No survivor is able to that, imho, because the perk simply doesn't provide that information. The only example I can think of is of survivors using spine chill to determine if the standing still spirit is phasing or faking. And even then, it's easily countered by phasing looking at the last location of the survivor. And that's because, for the third time in this post, SC tells them if I'm facing towards them, but it doesn't tell them were I'm going.
I pretty much agree with everything you said.
1 -
Niche for looping at best.
Perk is decent against new tinkerer meta though.
0 -
No
Spine chill dont tell where the killer is just tell that he is loocking for you
you dont know if the the killer is in chase if him is really coming for you or he just looked
1 -
I use Spine Chill in all my builds, but that's because I'm mostly solo q. That and Kindred are my bread and butter, so I really hope that the perk remains untouched. Because solo q players are going to be the most impacted and we already get enough punishment.
As I side note, I've never used SC in chase. It's probably situational, but I can't see myself sparing time to monitor the perk when every second counts.
4 -
Cause its so hard to look around without the perk? Its basically a baby survivor perk like technician.
1 -
someone doesnt know how to moonwalk
1 -
If you nerf Spine Chill you'd have to nerf Whispers. It's just as good as Spine Chill is for killers. They are like yin and yang.
As a survivor and killer player I want neither of these things. Both perks are just fine.
5 -
Oh I actually look at it while getting chased and like op said, it makes mindgaming nearly impossible because it lights up when the Killer turns.
1 -
I do look at it mid chase. Especially against spirit.
1 -
Yeah no. That gets rid of vault build. Unless they make it so that it just doesn't light up but still has the vault speed increase.

Tbh spine chill is ok, how sp works? Simple imagine the killer has a long triangle 36 m, 1 edge start from killer, the other 2 on the other side long as 3 m. When going for a gen try not to look directly at the gen, in chases and mindgames use moonwalk or just dont look directly at them.
1 -
As a spine chill user, spine chill help you in making decision, but not much in looping. I suggest using bamboozle to close down loop. what killer are you using? for bubba, bamboozle is a great perk. wraith will get more benefits in anti-loop and tracking builds.
0 -
Red stain does the same thing, tell survivors which direction the killer is looking, but neither it or Spine Chill tells them if he is moonwalking or not. If you are messing up mindgames it is not because of Spine Chill, not many people even run the perk in the first place.
1 -
Moonwalking.

I like to bring Fixated, SB, Lightweight, and Detective's Hunch.
