It's too easy to get rank 1 as killer
I came to this realization after going from rank 9 to rank 1 in 2 days with Clown a while back. I realized that all you have to do to get rank 1 is not tunnel, which gives you a hook on different survivors, and apply at least some form of gen control. Running PGTW will suffice in most games. As long as the game goes long enough, you won't depip with 0-1 kills and you will pip with 2 kills. I don't think I deserved rank 1 with the way those games went with Clown. I probably had 2 kills on average and the game just fed me pips because the game lasted long and I didn't tunnel. Rank 6-7 would be a more appropriate rank. Imo, you should never pip unless you get 3-4 kills and depipping needs to occur about 20% more at 0-1 kills.

It's too easy to get to rank 1. That's got nothing to do with killer vs survivor, the ranking system is so busted the Devs said it was nothing more than a personal victory and created a completely seperate, hidden MMR system which, tinfoil hats please, is probably still gathering data for its rerelease.

Just played a game against a rank 17 PH. Survivors were ranked, 1, 13 (me) 17, 19.
How random is that....
I agree with op that pips should only he awarded at 3 or 4 kills

The current ranking system can stay but I'd like another one alongside it that was more meaningful.

3-4 kills should not be the norm , in ideal match making 2 should die and 2 should escape if one side really outplays the other +1 to that side and a 4 escape or kill should be distant outliers... this clearly isn't the current case for the game

In a balanced game matchmaking-wise, there should be 2 kills and 2 escape. Then the most obvious way to determine whether matchmaking was unbalanced is if there wasn't 2 kills 2 escapes. If the killer gets 3-4 kills consistently, the killer needs to pip to face harder opponents. If the killer gets 2 kills, the match is balanced and no pip should be awarded.
I already gave 2 tips in the thread. Don't tunnel so you can get hooks on different survivors and apply some form of gen control. PGTW is usually good enough.

It's way too easy to rank up on both sides. It's even worse on the survivor side though.

Well, I didn't record it and I would have to depip from rank 1 to rank 9 to do that now.

It got really bad after they changed Rank Reset to only set you back 1 color instead of 2. Now there are more red ranks than ever and it's definitely affecting matchmaking. MMR can't come soon enough.

This arguement can go for both sides, and currently rank is irrelevent. I've seen red rank survivors play like they just got the game and I've seen browns and yellows play like they're veterans.
