I would say David Tapp is the best choice.

Yui is an original character, who can be bought for Iri Shards, so I wouldn't recommend getting her for Auric Cells in any case (I wouldn't recommend getting any character for Auric Cells, really, because buying with money is cheaper, but it has nothing to do with your question).

So back to Tapp and his perks. Detective's Hunch is a really good info-perk. Tenacity is wonderful with Unbreakable and Soul Guard. Stake Out is just fun if you like hiding and getting free perfect skillchecks (which in certain situations might be even detrimental).

In short, perk-wise, Tapp has 1 objectively good perk. While perks of Yui, Steve and Ash are either niche as hell or simply bad.

Mettle of Man, Flip-Flop, Second Wind, Breakout and Any Means Necessary are very cool when they work. But they work very rarely.

It honestly depends on your playstyle. I have all the perks unlocked and I can't say I use any of their perks all that often myself, but that's me personally. Steve's perks seem to focus a lot on partnership, helping others to help yourself. Like with babysitter, where the person you unhook has their scratch mark suppressed. And Second Wind, in which you have to heal someone else a full health state and then after you get unhooked, you'll have an automatic self heal similar to how the needle works with med kits.

I've not found how I can use Ash's perks successfully but I know there are good builds that use Mettle of Man, if you're the type to play more aggressively.

Tapp's perks are good for your own survival and are good against slugging killers.

Yui is similar to Ash in terms of having perks that seem better for more aggressive players or those that like to/can distract the killer.

I hope this helps you figure out a bit better who you might like to go with :)

It's either Yui for Breakout or Ash for MoM.

    You'd preferably want both.
