If someone opens the hatch with a key.
Does the hatch close on its own or will it remain open until the end of the match or the killer kicks it?

I think it closes on it's own but I don't remember. Been so long since I've used one.

I wish someone would launch an operation "make the wiki good". There are so many small details it doesn't seem to have on it.
I just got annoyed with 2 people for bailing on me in a huge chase and there excuse is the hatch closes after awhile so I wanted to know if true.

It will eventually close on its own, 30 seconds after being opened, if more than one survivor still hasn't escaped.
The Hatch page on the wikia does describe this, btw.

"Opening it will cause the Key-bearer to automatically jump in and escape, leaving it open for 30 seconds for any other Survivor to escape as well, after which it will close shut again, but without triggering the Endgame Collapse."
From the wiki.

dbd wiki say it stay open 30s.
If you close it, exit gates become powered.

The wiki is good, but it's not the wiki's fault if you don't read the articles properly. If you think the wiki is bad, then you're free to help improve it.

It will close after some time. I used this to my advantage several times so the EGC dont trigger.

ah, I was looking at the CLOSING part of the wiki and didn't see that.

I agree they're trash. It feels so cheap and unfair when you're the killer and lose multiple survivors over this. Same when you're the survivor who gets left out of the key use.
I run a Freddy for 90 seconds and my payment is 2 healthy survivors just jump right in and make no attempt to involve me in it. When you die and have 1k more than people who ESCAPED through the hatch....

Sure, needing to read every single word on the page is good. Having it be completely random where the information you may need is located.
Yeah I think the pages are a scrambled mess and the actual useful information is too spread about. If I changed it it would probably get reverted back by some of the mafia members. Are you one?
2 -
It's not completely random, it's literally in the sub-section titled "Using Keys". I found it immediately, didn't even have to read the entire article.
No, I very rarely edit the wiki. I have about 20 edits spread across 3 years.

The page on the wiki for "Hatch" could easily be about half of the length that it is.

But then you'd complain that it doesn't have all the relevant information (and you'd be right).
3 -
Not when it can all be summed up in half the words.

It goes on its own after a while.
In my opinion only the person with the key should be able to leave - hatch should close when that person uses their key/dives into the hatch.
I'm a killer main and I can even say to either remove Ebony Moris or do something with all of them to make them fair; I'm fair with them unless it's a really toxic SWF.
Then yer all dunn. But no really, make this game fun again so I can come back.

It's not about matching a Twitter character limit. There are colors, stylized text, enough information to parse through quickly and see the basics at a glance, between the lines of a more in-depth article for those who are trying to learn as much as possible.
The Wiki provides all the resources any player needs to familiarize themselves with the game, whether it be newcomers figuring out perks and mechanics - or veteran players trying to figure out how their load out will have to change after a new patch.

Wasn't there talk (PTB maybe?) of a mechanic change? Namely, only allowing the Key-bearer to escape; hatch closes instantly after 1 person escapes? I swear I heard this somewhere and thought it was being implemented at some point.

Hatch will close within the key use time unless the last person is left behind which it will stay open until you close it.
0 -
It will close on its own, unless everyone leaves and there is one surviver left. In that case if the killer kicks it it immediately goes to the end game collapse.
