Anyone need tips on killer or survivor? Talking to the newbies here
Ask me for whatever knowledge you need since I have gotten bored of scrolling through the forums and seeing one too many "Undying + Ruin combo OP plz nerf" articles hehe. You can get specific or detailed, just go ahead ask me questions like "How do I loop the killer properly?" or "How do I play this killer well?".

Bit more of an advanced question for you to test you: what's a good killer for a CONSOLE player to rank up with quickly that can be played without add-ons?
My rank slipped a bit because I focused on Survivor archives and slaughtering Rank 20's who literally have no clue just isn't fun. There is no thrill because there is no hunt.

Freddy for sure, maybe doctor if you know him well. Freddy is a strong killer and is relatively simple with few addons that are great such as the paint brush or cooldown addons. Keep in mind however, that the ranking in this game really is not at its best, meaning it hardly works properly if at all. He doesn't require much mechanical skill like nurse or huntress as well. So I would recommend Freddy and maybe the doctor. I say maybe the doctor because his shock therapy is strong and his addons are pretty good for the most part.

So, Doctor is my second most played killer, BUT I always use the Calm/Order add-ons. As for Freddy, I did play a game last night before I read your reply here.
The result was a match on the Sanctum of Wrath. 3 Generators remaining, hatch escape.
No camping, no tunnelling, no Snare spam at loops. Lots of healing, surprisingly. Never got hit by a DS.

So did you rank up? If not, then try again, but this time try to kick gens a bunch of times as well as use your power too. Try to hook survivors many times until they die, kick a bunch of gens, and use your power as much as you can without losing too much pressure (so you should do things like snare spamming). Just remember, the ranking system SUCKS, like really badly right now so it might take you a few times before your get it. DC's can also hinder it entirely if it happens at all at any point in the match too. Getting 4k's consistently will also help you rank up fast. But you have to get them for most of your games.

Funny thing is that I did all that, double-pipped and I actually like the emblem system.
It's been around since I started in Darkness Among Us. My highest ranks are 3 on Surv and 7 on Killer. I just got caught up doing other things and my rank decayed.

If you really just want to rank up and take advantage of the emblem system, play Legion. He's really easy to rank up with and is definitely playable on console. Just be really careful with your first frenzy hit because of all of the spins. Getting knocked out of your power for a miss on the first swing is ridiculously punishing

3rd most played killer for me. Played a game but was 1 off Merciless.
Fun killer! Not overly strong, but fun.
