Survivor mains and killer mains who do YOU think is a skillfull killer

Title explains itself, I want to ask this more to survivor mains then killer mains. To make this debate slightly interesting, this is NOT INCLUDING NURSE, I know everyone will say nurse is the hardest/ most skillful killer, which is correct but doesnt create meaningful/ insightful discussion because thats basically a fact at this point. Feel free to give multiple killers that are difficult or take skill.

Billy using saws takes a lot of skill, huntress (provided she's not using iridescent) also requires skill to hit hatchets from both close and far ranges. GF requires a lot if you are actually sneaking up on people. Most m1 killers need a mindgame or something to get a down on good survivors usually so that requires some sort of skill. You will use as even the strongest killers if you don't know what you are doing but some require a lot less than others. The killers that many people call boring (spirit, freddy PH) generally need less skill to get downs vs other killers. Such as billy or huntress. I'm not saying they are overpowered because any killer in the game by just doing gens efficiency but they are definitely pretty oppressive in chase and not much you can really do to stay alive unless the killer doesn't understand their power.

If the obvious nurse is off the table.

Based on player skill and creativity I'd say Trapper.

He's not anywhere near as effective as nurse but using such few resources that are so easily countered makes it that much more satisfying when it all comes snowballing down.

I don't use him very often and most times I get steam rolled but I have to say, it's so enthralling to go from 1 gen left and 4 survivors alive to a 4k because of a few creative traps.

That doesn't really take skill, it takes the survivors making mistakes. Nothing to do with the skill of a killer. You could make an argument for Trapper and running people in a specific way to get them to go over your trap in a weird spot, but that's about it. M1 killers require the least amount of skill out of every killer by virtue of being M1 killers.

Maybe below red ranks, but at red ranks survivors make little mistakes during a chase so you have to induce them into making mistakes. Basically M1 killers require you to be skillful at mindgames if you want to play them at a high level, and that's why I believe they require a lot of skill.

If you're talking about killers that have the highest skill ceiling, that's Nurse, Billy, Huntress, and Blight.

Higher skill requirement killers to me: Huntress, Blight, Spirit, Hag, Deathslinger

"Most" the other killers just require basic knowledge of looping/mind game/map pressure mechanics that are universal to all killers. The killers I mentioned require that same knowledge, but also ask you to learn additional mind games or aiming skills attached to their power as well, so there's a lot more to learn than some of the more basic m1 killers.

    Basically this.

Blight is both the hardest killer in the game, and also has the highest skill cap, there is always something new to learn with him.

Also, if anyone ever masters him, there's tons to do with his power.

Nurse isn't that hard, also once you learn her, there isn't much you can do with her power, because of how basic it is, and since she's busted when you master her, you're going to win every game.

Blight. Deathslinger. Ghostface. Plague. Huntress. Billy. Hag. Trapper. Oni. PH, to an extent. Spirit, to an extent.

I also don't think Nurse is the hardest killer in the game any more. There's no nuance there. Sure, landing blinks is one of the hardest skills in the game, but that doesn't make her the hardest killer to master.

As a GF main who plays red rank and gets 4k ruthless-merciless most games. He’s one of the easier killers to get m1s with while using his power. His skill cap definitely rises depending on addons. With cooldown addons you should be getting free hits/downs pretty often.

I think you are getting effort and skill confused. Yes it is true that m1 killers require more effort to get hits, but that does not necessarily equate to skill. Most tiles are safe and can’t be played around if the survivor knows what their doing (Jungle-gyms, cow tree, most main buildings, shack, auto haven tractor loop, bus loop, and plenty of other unnamed tiles). It’s sort of like the whole reason deathslinger is seen as having no counter play , sure you can try to influence him to miss but him actually missing is on the deathslinger himself. Most m1 play against strong survivors is breaking pallets at strong jungle gyms and either hoping for them to go to a weak loop or to hit them before they get to another pallet. I personally think m1 killers, while not necessarily the easiest to win with are the easiest to play. (Also don’t confuse a killer getting easier wins as easy, just because the killer is strong doesn’t mean they’re not hard)

In my opinion the hardest killers can be factored into two different categories

    Hardest killers to master:

    Huntress, Deathslinger, Blight, Trapper, Hag

Hardest Killers to pick up(For me at least):

    Oni, Billy, Blight

As of now, I'd say blight. His curving and timing of his power is so crucial in a chase and takes alot of practice. Huntress I would also say takes alot of skill

Imo nurse isnt a skilled killer neither is spirit. Nurse may be supposedly the best player in the game but I don't think she is. There is counter play to nurse. The most skilled killer to me is probably going to surprise a lot of people but I think it's legion just hear me out on this because legion power pretty much does nothing but make everyone mend you have to decide when to use it and when it's better to m1. Sure legion could use a tweak to it's power but that's where the skill part comes in you have to be very skilled at killer to even get a 4k with him. But it's the opposite with nurse and spirit all you need to do is learn how to master them but that doesn't involve skill

It depends on what we define as "skill". Killers like Trapper and Hag derive most of their skill from map knowledge and where to place traps, controlling Survivors. Killers like Clown and Deathslinger tend to have more skill in the chase, with their power easily shutting down loops.

Then you have killers like Pig, Freddy and Demogorgon. These killers require the user to be skilled in every area of the game. They borrow from the Chase and Control schools of Killer gameplay. So arguably hybrid killers.

I think every killer is skillful - depending on how the killerplayer choose to play the killer.

All that talking about skill less killers or also survivors is just hidden jealousy, of people that search a reason why they lost a match, or need an enemie in general to release their anger.

That said, of course killers can have "skill less" abilities, like survivors also, but a skillful player will not choose them.

    It is easy as that.

Huntress. If you want to be consistently good as huntress, you gotta have good aim, predict well and outplay survivors at loops. Skillful huntresses do all this but also know the specifics of what loops you can throw hatchets over, what gaps hatchets can be thrown through etc.

any M1 killer with no ability to end chase faster, However while Myers do take skill its not much as the others.

Other then that Huntress, billy and Nurse.

Rest like Doctor, Freddy and Spirit dosent take to much effort to play with

All of them. There's different types of skill and not all are as "flashy" as mechanical skill which is what people often think of. Same goes for survivor.

The overfocus on mechanical skill is most of the time just a thing people do, and at worst genuine elitism. Take it from a former mechanical-aim elitist that considered all skills that don't involve getting headshots in FPS games or complex button inputs as "inferior" and "not real skill", lol.

    Trapper.

I play both roles and I play on PC and Switch. But when I play killer on Switch, Trapper is the only one that can work against red rank survivors and the awful frames. It's all about map knowledge and how to properly trap the map.

On PC I play pretty much anyone and it's easy. But Switch Trapper is the only killer I feel that can easily handle the game. Also there's nothing more satisfying and then trapping one half of the map and defending it with your life. I never get tired of survivors falling for the most easiest traps in the game. SNAP, HOOK, 4k. Rank 1 switch trapper. Taking lessons from Otzdarva via his streams makes it even easier.

Myers. Because he has limited stalk a good Myers player has to be smart about how much they utilize their stalk in each survivor, don't drain one survivor early so you have nothing left in later game. Be strategic about when you pop your tier 3 at the most opportune time. And of course try and have it 99'ed and ready to go.

Most if not all killers can be skillful with experience. ranged killers might require aiming and lead. trap-based killer require to set-up traps as an early game investment.

sometimes you may need to optimise your build around the killer, while also to give you advantage depending on the strategy you are going for.

After maining Nurse and Huntress I came to the conclusion that it takes a lot longer to master every skill shot, needle threat, long shot and what else Huntress is able to pull off compared to mastering Nurses Blinks. Therefore she is in my opinion the most skillfull killer in the game. She can snipe people everywhere on the whole map but that comes with a high risk. If you don't hit these hatches you lose a lot of pressure and the game is lost. But if your aim, prediction and skill is on point then she is the most rewarding killer in the entire game.

It's more decision making than skill that determines a win or loss imo. All killers require some skill, although Ghostface and Trapper need more skill than the obvious ones like Nurse, Spirit and Oni.

I think m1's in general is the most skillful part of being killer. It requires a ton of mindgames and prediction skill that isnt always required with m2's. Which, IMO, technically makes Myers the hardest as he starts out slower. But including all perks and addons, I'd say any 110% killer(excluding Spirit) have the hardest time getting m1's

But talking about m2's, I think Blight is the hardest one to get a hold on for getting hits overal.

Killer as in character or as in player?.

For character I say any Killer who has a power which needs lot of mechanical skill like Huntress or Nurse or a Killer who needs a lot of decission making and adapting according how the match goes like Jigsaw, Trapper or Legion.

For players the guys who can consistently 3K and 4K without using easy-modo or scummy tactics (Spirit, Moris, Freddy, tunneling, camping etc).

  • LapisInfernalis
    LapisInfernalis Member Posts: 4,218

For me, a skillful Killer is:

    winning (3-4k) while

    • not camping and tunneling without reason (reason=desperate need for pressure, open exit, Object etc.)
    • not 4-man-slugging at 4 or 5 gens left
    • being a fair player in general
    • not using broken stuff (like Stridor on Spirit or Iri Head)

It doesn't depend on which Killer you chose. You can impress me with i.e. Nurse/Spirit as well as with i.e. Wraith/Clown.

I’m really going to have to say Deathslinger. I’ve mained him since he came out and I’m still learning new spots everyday. The pin sized hit box of his harpoon can lead to so many amazing situations like shooting through shack, shooting through hay bales, shooting through railings, shooting throughout missing chunks of wood, etc.

Just yesterday I was on Suffocation Pit, a really good Nea was looping me around a wall and being a 4.4m/s killer, it was driving me nuts until I saw an odd square chunk out of the wall, reverse, shoot, free down. I understand that Huntress can use some of these spots too, but her hatchet hit boxes are so much bigger so the really precise shots are so satisfying to pull off, you really feel like an expert!

    Nurse, Pig, Huntress.

Nurse is a given, since you can't just spam blinks and expect to win at some point.

Pig because of how you can use traps, boxes, and knowing when someone gets it off via the icon to track survivors. There's a lot of nuance and attention, as well as forcing survivors into certain areas to make this work. If boxes are in all four corners, and you trap and hook someone in one quadrant near a box, they will get unhooked and hit that box first. If you're on one side of them, they will naturally move to the other, and you can get them to rotate in a pre-determined path to always keep a loose idea of where they are, up to when they get a trap off based on the time it takes.

Huntress is 50-50. I haven't played her since dedicated servers, but the dozens of times I've played against one they seem to be getting hatchet hits through walls and objects. (By proxy, this keeps happening with Deathslinger, too, and it's frustrating.) Beside that, hatchets take practice and reads.

I'd argue Hag, too, since she can be difficult to get a full setup against a 2-3+ SWF that burns your traps. Urban Evasion is never really an issue for me, though, since it just means a wider net for traps. But this is just contingent on a very specific top end. She is, otherwise, not any particular level of difficulty over others.

Basically every killer takes skill. The harder to master killers are huntress, blight, and billy. You need a lot of time to make their powers effective.

Killers like wraith require a ton of general map knowledge and knowledge of how to read survivors, because you cant fall back on your power.

This question is a bit tricky to answer in a straight-forward way. Some Killers have a rather more complex modus operandi then others. They can be quite difficult to master and even begin to understand. Others are more direct and have simpler ways -- not saying they are any less interesting to match against, but generally require less effort to use their abilities. Examples can be Trappers or Hags which are more like M1 Killers, but a right placed trap can really turn a whole match upside down. Measuring Nurse's blinks, aiming with Huntress' hatchets or the Deathslinger's harpoon. They all have their own tricks and twists.

If we talk in general terms, if a Killer doesn't rely to camping/proxy-camping or tunnelling then they are great Killers to my eyes. I don't mind losing/dying as a Survivor as long as I get to enjoy the trial and actually get to do something.

Not relying on crutches. Not relying on instadown. Not relying on Bamboozle. Not relying on EndFury. Not relying on RunDying. Not relying on a mori. Not relying on tunnelling. Not relying on slugging at 4 / 5 gens. Not relying on poorly made basekit zoning powers. Not using any addons.

Well most skillful are any which require timing/aim. So Nurse, blight, huntress/GS.

I feel alot of the people saying Nurse takes no skill/easy to play haven't ever played a nurse.

I would actually say if you can do well with blight then that's amazing, he's like a worse nurse, exchanging blinks for rushes.
