Any ideas on a way to make a new main objective which encourages chases?
Generators are an issue that's plagued this game since it's launch 4 years ago. The tension of working on a gen quickly dissipates after only a handful of hours and once that happens repairing gens just becomes a boring chore that has to be done. Meanwhile, on the Killer side of things gen speeds feel insanely fast unless you run the sweatiest build possible and even then a seemingly small mistake could mean the difference between a 4K or a 0K. Whilst admittedly very rare, there’s nothing more frustrating then facing 4 immersed survivors who hide whenever they hear the terror radius and absolutely refuse to take chases opting to do nothing but gens and hiding.
The fact that a core mechanic of the game causes so much frustration for both sides indicates that the mechanic is fundamentally flawed. NOTHING in a video game should be boring and if something boring just HAS to be in a game then it must be short and ultimately a non-factor like the struggling mechanic. (I don't really care about struggling anymore in case someone checks my past posts lol). The fact that the majority of survivor gameplay is just staying still waiting for a progress bar to fill up to 100% is an insult to the playerbase.
Well what’s the part of the game that’s the most fun for both sides? Chases. While chases can be frustrating for either side depending on map rng and tile spawns, it’s still the only actual fun that can be found in this game in my opinion. A possible solution to many of the above problems could be to simply remove gens entirely and create a new main objective for the survivors. It should heavily incentivise them to take chases in order to complete their objective instead of right now where survivors take chase to distract the killer from the other survivors doing their objective.
I’m unsure how this would work as I’m not a very creative thinker but I wonder if any of you fine people could brainstorm some ideas. Of course if you think I’m just a dumb idiot with a trash garbage idea then you can feel free to say so in the comments but of course, be civil to one another. Survivors should need to set up pallets before use. Additionally, there have been no more survivor chase mechanics since the game's launch, so some new things to interact with in chase would be cool.
I like being stealthy more than being chased, personally, so please don't force chases onto all survivors in every game. That's not cool.
