I’m new and was hoping for tips.
Hey I’m new and Was wondering if you guys had any tips to playing survivor/killer?

I would really appreciate any tips as to perks for doctor.

Edit: For Survivor, it's just experience. Play the tutorial, get the basics down. Die a lot, learn the maps as you go and find that you're not dying as much. Get bloodpoints, get better perks. (I recommend Bond from Dwight, Quick and Quiet from Meg, Self Care from Claudette, and Iron Will from Jake to start)

Thanks a ton!

No problem. I will say while I hope you enjoy Doctor, it might be worth playing other killers and learn how to locate survivors without the static blast. It will help you a lot down the road.

I appreciate it! Do you have a suggestion as for a killer to try and work on locating survivors with? I have all base killers and huntress.

Play this game with a good mindstate
Things will happen:
Camping= Killer stays around hooked survivors
Tunneling= Killer focus on 1 survivor for the whole match
Slugging= Killer downs a survivor but doesn't pick them up ( can happen to multiple survivors as well)
Looping= survivor(s) who like to run the same area with the killer chasing
Pathing= running Loops a certain way to 1) get away from the killer... 2) waste killers time
Understanding killers power: killers have sound/visual cues that tell survivors that the killer is using their power
Huntress grunts as she pulls up a hatchet and a sound will play if she has one fully charged
Micky: if he's just standing off in the distance he's most likely stalking to tier up (from 1-2 or 2-3 and his theme plays every time he tiers up)
Wraith's Bell (unless he's using an addon to make it silent)
ETC...

You've got two choices, because over time you'll see a lot of survivors hide in the same places regardless of if you're killer or survivor. If you're playing with Dwight's perk Bond you'll be able to see what your teammates are doing, and I recommend keeping notes on where they hide on the map. When you're killer it'll give you an idea of what the survivors are going to do.
As killer, Wraith is the absolute best at fishing out survivors for two reasons. One, they'll see you and start running, which means they fish themselves out and two they won't see you and you'll see where they were hiding and you'll learn that location for later. Oh hey survivors hide there.
Once you learn what routes survivors take during chases, I find a lot of fun with Trapper (my main btw) but he requires map knowledge. However once you have that they've released a LOT of killers and because not many people play Trapper anymore, survivors new to the game have no idea how to handle his traps.
Hillbilly, Nurse and Huntress are VERY strong killers, but they play differently from the basic killers and you'll have to spend time learning these killer's specific kits.

Thanks! I heard somewhere that If spirit is far enough away and phases towards you it makes a whoosh but I can’t confirm.

Is That your YT?

I see. Thanks once again! I was a little scared this community was toxic, (my friend told me it was very toxic) but I’m grateful for all the help!

Also: Make sure you only like/play killers and survivors the loud brats of the community approve of. Or if you don't, don't admit to it. They'll tear you apart and than victimblame, telling you to not participate in any bits of the community, be it the endgame chat, social media, this forum, and that it's your own fault for getting hate for liking X.

You will die a lot, or you will get no kills at first on either side. That is how the game goes. This game rewards consistent play and learning.
That being said, escaping/killing is not everything. Pay attention to the emblem system.
For Survivors, I recommend levelling up Dwight or Claudette first. Dwight has teamwork feats, so Bond and Prove Thyself are the go. Bond will find you other survivors to heal you and Prove Thyself is great for working on generators with multiple survivors. Claudette has healing perks, so Self-Care CAN help you if nobody is around, especially with Botany Knowledge and Empathy can also be good to find healing targets or see where the killer is on the map roughly.

Nah. I'm an author not a streamer. I've never gotten into video editing.
The community is fine. What people are talking about when they say toxicity is this game attracts sore losers when you beat them after the game to the point they'll message you and stuff. Just set your profile to private and it's a non issue.

(Bad Word) I forgot that
happens to me a lot

Thank you! I Try to get at least silver in most emblems each game!

Yikes.
building upon that, what such things should I not do?

It does

Oh, cool!

Ah, Thanks! I play console so I don’t see endgame chat but I appreciate it non the less.

Listen to people like that. They're just loud. Play like you want (though please don't be toxic), like whichever killer/survivor you like. Who cares if you like Claudette or Ace?

If you're on console, then Feng Min is also a good character to level. Alert is good for detection and Lithe is my favorite exhaustion perk.

okay! Thank you again! In relation to what is and isn’t toxic my friend mentioned something call a mori? I’m unsure what those are but he said they are very toxic and I would like to confirm.
0 -
Alrighty! Thank you! I’ll look into that!
i heard sprint burst is pretty good too.

A mori is an offering you can bring as killer that allows you to 'kill survivors by your own hand'. AKA you can kill them directly after having hooked them a single time and you knock them down again.
There's three types of mori: yellow, green and pink/red (reffering to their icon color): Yellow allows you to kill the last remaining survivor directly, green allows you to kill one of your choosing, red lets you kill all after they have been hooked once.
It's considered toxic as there is no real counter to it, and it very much screws survivors over.
Also some players use it to be a-holes and carry the last survivor to the hatch, close it, and mori them. Which is absolutely a nasty, no-good move. it's just being mean.
The 'equivalent' (so to speak) on suvivor side, are keys, as they allow you to unlock the hatch once it spawned, and can be quite unfair to the killer. Maybe (depending on the match) not as much as moris, but still.

Also play all killers you can so you have knowledge on how the killer's power works
As for what not to do....
Nothing... there's not much you can do without someone getting mad (I have messages to prove it) just don't let it get to you
Just play the game... And have fun doing it
Learn all you can through experience watch people play for specifics or any questions you might have about a killer
I also have a YT and have matches using almost all of the killers
They're mostly all gameplay (My voice isn't in all of them)... If you do watch them and hear me it's all reactionary not much on my thought process
RaSavage42
The same as my Xbox gamertag and on the forums

I see, so like if I brought an iridescent Mori and hooked the whole team once I could tunnel and kill them all with no real counter?
yeah, seems like it would be annoying. I’ll probably keep away.
if they have unique animations I might check them out in a custom with friends
but yeah, thanks!

Thanks! I’m hopping off the forum for tonight but I’ll be sure to check it out!

all killers have unique mori animation (the type of mori doesn't matter) and some are awesomely nasty. (checking youtube for them is also a good way)
As for custom matches:
What @RaSavage42 said about getting used to killer powers: custom matches are probably the best place to do so. Get a sense for distance, what you can attack through/over etc Likewise it's great for trying out perks on either side
0 -
@MeltingPenguins I would love to be able to take new players into custom matches to show them the game

same.
If the community could agree on definite signals for farming it'd be doable in a regular match (and if people would in those case play honorable and not abuse it for a quick 4k)

LOL... I just go with my barely visible Wraith...
Perks: Discordance, Thrill of the Hunt, Sloppy Butcher, and Nurse's Calling
Addons: Speed and Reappearance
Strat: zoom around the map until you find a survivor (preferably on a gen) ring bell once... see them jump out of their skin only to come back
repeat till you have a congo line going then hit one and move on... Had so much fun and made some friends doing this

General info for killer
probably think about getting Leatherface, if you want to spend the money. He is a decent killer and with "Barbecue & Chilli" he has THE bloodpoint perk #1 to help you out with the bloodweb grinding. The perk gives you 1) information where you can find your next target after you hooked someone and 2) can double your BP at the end of the game. If you don't want to spend the money, keep an eye on your iridiscent shards. These you will get from leveling up your player level (after a match you get bloodpoints and XP, if XP increase your player level, you will get some iridiscent shards). Try to get 2000 and never drop below 2000. Every Tuesday/Wednesday (depending on your timezone) the shrine of secrets (in the store section) will offer 4 new teachable perks. BBQ can show up there and you can unlock it in the shrine for 2000 iri shards, so that every killer will be able to unlock it in their bloodwebs. Do you know the teachable mechanic already? Ask if not clear
General info about leveling your characters up
I would suggest to pick one killer and one survivor, and then don't mind about leveling any other character at first. If you bring them to level 50 (or I think it can happen even before lv 50), then you will have all of the characters personal perks and all of the common perks unlocked at tier 3. From that point, you can take a look at other characters, get more tips etc on which perks you can go for. Once you unlocked 1 or 2 other perks, you can instantly get them on your "maxed out" characters, as there are no other perks available anymore. Although it is a bit different on killers, because not every killer can make the same use of every perk, and of course you might want to play other killers, as they have different powers, unlike survivors, who are just different skins but all play the same.
Another general info
Definitely play both sides equally in the beginning. There are a few things you will need to see from both sides to get a feeling what works out and what not, especially why not. Like the distance that you can hear injured survivors moaning or working on gens, the field of view of a killer to better estimate when a killer actually saw you as survivor or not, the plays survivors attempt to outplay killers etc
Survivors to start with
Many people say Feng Min has the best starting perks for beginners. But she is a DLC character (Spark of Madness), so think about if you want to pay for that or not. She has one of the easiest and efficient to use exhaustion perks, Alert is a good information perk to tell you where the killer is and Technician will help you out in your first games to avoid killer notifications when you miss skillchecks. All three perks are really good. Otherwise I would suggest David or Dwight, because they can also give you a good BP boost with their perks, and the other perks are also not too bad. Just ignore No Mither from David, that is pure trash, especially for beginners.
- Dwight has "Bond" which is a very good information perk. You can see other survivors in a pretty big distance, which can help you find someone if you need healing, find people that need healing and also to find people working on gens, which also helps you to find gens in general. Also useful for his second perk:
- "Prove Thyself" on the one hand speeds up generator repair speed when working together with others on a gen, on the other hand it boosts your XP gained from cooperative actions. And on gens for example that means, that a single gen, if you fully repair it together with someone else, almost maximises the bloodpoints you can get in that category.
- David has "We're gonna live forever" which gives you extra bloodpoints like BBQ, up to a 100% when you unhook survivors or take protection hits for them (a protection hit is when you run into the killer to take the hit, instead of an injured person near you). With the next patch it will also greatly increase healing speed on dying survivors.
- Also he has Dead Hard, an exhaustion perk. "Exhaustion perks" are perks that will help you out in chases, but once you used them you are exhausted for 40-60 seconds and cannot use the perk again while exhausted. Dead Hard can be one of the best exhaustion perks if used correctly, but it is difficult to use. So not a bad idea to get started with that early to get as much as possible experience with it.
Survivor perks
the common survivor perks, that every survivor can find by default in their bloodwebs, have already a good number of useful perks. I first list 2 "beginner perks" which can help you in the beginning to learn the maps a bit faster. But as recommendation, I would say skip them from time to time, because it can be also bad if you start to rely on them, risking to get lazy and get lost easily when you suddenly don't have the perk anymore to help you out.
- Deja Vu, if you want to find gens more quickly
- Small game, to find totems and memorize their spawn locations
- (Just in case you get your hands on that somehow, I wanna list "Windows of Opportuinity" here as well as "training perk", although this is a DLC perk on Kate/Clown [Curtain call chapter]. It shows you the windows and pallets near you, so you can see where you need to go to get away from the killer)
The following perks are a pretty good pick in any case. Try to get them when you see them in your web
- Kindred, to have better information about people dying on hook. You will be able to see if someone needs your help and also if you can spend your time working on gens because someone else is already going for the safe
- Premonition/Spinechill are information perks to tell you if the killer is near. Premonition shows you the direction of the killer but has a cooldown, but it can help you to not accidentially run into the killer. Spinechill lights up when the killer is looking into your direction, so you don't have to worry everytime you hear the terror radius, Spinechill willl tell you if the killer is heading towards you
- We'll make it greatly increases your healing speed for quite some time after you unhooked someone. This speed can sometimes be essential, and will also help out a lot to not waste too much time when you can afford to heal right under the hook.
Killer perks
- Sloppy Butcher slows down healing. Does only work on basic attacks, so not worth running it on chainsaw killers for example. But the perk wastes some survivor time with easy (meaning no special extra effort) usage, especially good on Wraith as you can have good chances to injure them and find them later again with another surprise attack, as they need longer to heal.
- Spies from the Shadows helps you out tracking survivors. Can be huge on some maps, but can also be a wasted perk on other maps. Depends on the number of crows on the map.
- Whispers is another great tracking perk. But only if you got it to tier 3, the range is too big otherwise. And one important thing to know about that perk: when it tells you a survivor is in range, you can easily waste too much time if you think "there IS a survivor, I HAVE to find him!". Once Wihspers goes off, make an educated guess, try to find the survivor. If not, just go on patrolling gens. The bigger and easier to use power of this perk is, that you know where NO survivor is, and that you don't have to waste any time searching in that area at all. Might sound contradictory, but use it and try to learn, then you will notice how to use the perk efficiently. There are also pro tech videos on how to "pinpoint" survivors with that perk on youtube. Just use it and try to get comfy with it, it can be a very strong tracking perk. You can then see if you can work with the perk or if you prefer other perks.
Don't care about what people think. Play whatever you want. The only thing that is really commonly accepted as pure bull **** is the Iridiscent Head + Infantry Belt addon combo on Huntress and Ebony Mori offering. You can expect offending chat when you use them, and you should really not rely on using them. Green mori (which just allows one mori in the game) is fine if you want to use it for completing a daily, as long as you don't hook your first guy and the next thing you do is getting that guy downed again right after the unhook to kick him out of the game. These are basically the only two things that you might need to keep in mind.
Btw, "Noone escapes death" is also a common killer perk, that can help you out in the late game. Many people complain about that perk, but it is easy to outplay. If someone offends you for using it, ignore him. They are just lazy, don't care about it

As survivor: try to look back and run forward. Always keep an eye on the killer. Until the killer has to make meters good you can loop a pallet. When he's right at your butt THEn you throw it
As killer: Take shortcuts, fake if the survivor doesn't look behind him. If the survivor fakes, try to double fake (like: moonwalk back, turn and moonwalk back again). When you hook someone go for the nearest survivor. Don't get personal. If something like chasing a good survivor will obviously won't make you win the game, then chase a weaker one and focus on them.
