Soul guard shouldn't have infinite uses.
It should be a one chance perk like DS and Unbreakable.

What would be the point in taking it over Unbreakable then? It would be Unbreakable but slower and only works if a Hex is active. The endurance effect wouldnt compensate for that.

Undying shouldn't have infinite uses. A cleansed hex should be revived only once

Can we all stop trying to nerf every single good survivor perk just for being good?
12 -
Soul Gard is fine with the New Ruin/Undying meta.

Soul Guard is fine. They get that benefit in return for you keeping your hex perk in play. If you don't like it, just don't use hex perks. That's the counter.

Ummm... whut? There are only 5 totems. If a player is hexed, soul guard can be used infinite times. (Obviously unlikely being slugged more times than there are totems but still...)
Soul guard synergizing with Unbreakable is gross in my opinion. It's way overkill with what survivors already have.

Look, if there weren´t that many anti slugging mechanics, slugging would be pretty unfun. When I slug I don´t expect them to lie there for a minute or even longer. It´s fine as is, but it has the same synergy issues as UB has with DS. I´m pretty sure it will get addressed somewhere down the road.

Every tried "For the people" with "Soul Guard" in an SWF? It's borderline broken when you got halfway good loopers and coordination.
0 -
Ever tried "Hex: Undying" with "Ruin" against any survivor? It's borderline overpowered but fun to go against, you don't see me complaining now, do you?
And don't you dare say "that's whataboutism", I'm clearly complimenting the other side.
2 -
It's really not though because it takes multiple survivors off gens doing nothing but throwing themselves at a downed survivor in hopes you hit the guy who just got up instead of them , it only works if the killer falls for it is what I mean by that

Soul guard is a problematic perk due to how hard it counters hexes...
What keeps soul guard from being problematic is most hex perks suck and there's no guarantee that there even will be a hex perk in the game.
Soul Guard just isn't a well designed perk but its going to be ignored until we get ENOUGH better hex perks to were they are more reliably seen and that your going to have more then 1 curse up at once(Even in undying games I have been on both sides were undying and ruin go within the first 2 mins of the game).

This perk is also abused by hackers so they can infinitely stand up and be un hittable which they can combo with stuff like DS on there teammate's I know because I've ran into hackers using this and triggering it with no hex in play
0 -
And hackers can abuse it so whenever they get up and not under a hex effect they trigger it's protection
0 -
Ah, yes. "Hackers." Rare species that I meet every game. /s
4 -
Lol I meant it's one that is abused by them because they can trigger it and the protection anytime they wanted which can make playing harder

The problem with Soul Guard is its synergy with DS and Unbreakable. Most Hex perks aren’t good enough for its second effect (always being able to pick yourself up) to be overpowered.
1 -
Umm... what? If you take Undying and another hex, you take 2 dull totems already, which means Undying has only 3 time uses if not cleansed first

I've only gotten Soul Guard to work once and never seen it as killer.
How many times are you going to slug the same survivor?
4 -
Fun fact: they're hackers. They hack the game. They can do these things without using a perk. They can trigger the endurance from MOM whenever they want, with or without the perk.
Hackers abusing a perk doesn't mean the perk needs to go, it means the hackers do. So report them with proof and move along the bus.

That's how it works, you can't get up when not under a hex but anytime you get picked up you have the endurance effect while running soul guard
0 -
I did actually tried it several times, but over the time survivors adapted and used easy counters like maps, "Detective's Hunch" or "Small Game". So i started using consistent perks instead of totems again.

Remember, you can stack DH, a styptic and DS.
"Soul Guard" plus "For the people" just makes you basically untunneable, so easy win for SWF.
0 -
You can't use a syptic if you have the broken status effect , it's literally up to the killer whether that works because you're running right in front of them to pick the guy up off the ground hoping they don't hit you first, even with dead hard it isn't gonna be useful because you're not in chase gaining a distance you're using it to avoid a hit and that's when that perk will 90 percent of the time get you killed or exhausted on the ground, I'm not saying it could never work but a good killer will just go for the other guy as soon as they realize what's going on , best case scenario you get it to happen one time before they attack the broken guy first

Okay then, let's agree to disagree.

Yeh and I can see so many games happening where soul guard will be used more than 2-3 times. Hell, already using it twice only is rare enough
0 -
I'm on about a legit game no hex perks they was slugged basement and I chased 3 wounded they get up I think maby they got stabbed with a heal syringe but end game they run at me I slug hook a Claudette they get back up and save the Claudette both escape I go from 3k to 1k and lo and behold they did not have unbreakable and no one in the match had a syringe heal add on

Maybe soul guard is getting bugged in some matches? That would seem more likely than a hacker because I can tell you with 9000 hours in this game on pc if someone is taking the risk to hack and get banned they're gonna be doing alot more than just infinite soul guard in the match and there's not gonna be any doubt if it was a hacker or not

Thats why I out it in bugs first asking this a bug or hacker?

Soul guard doesn't counter hexes, actually.
It's countering if you have an ability meant to kill off a hex in the first place.
It counters slugging more accurately. And a damn fine perk too. The perk shouldn't be touched. The effect of reviving on your own is already incredibly niche, you might as well shoot the perk in the head if you want to make it single-use and make another not-so-decent perk into the trash bin.

I never mentioned nerfing the revive to one or removing it at all.
Its a long term problematic perk that is more or less destined to be reworked because once hexes become dominate and that revive becomes a normal part of the perk then it will be reworked for being an objectively better unbreakable.
I honestly don't know how the devs could fix soul guard once hexes become the norm but nerfing it won't actually fix the issues the perk has from a fundamental design perspective.
