Among us is getting a colorblind feature
A game about beans murdering in electrical and voting on someone because "they are sus" is getting a colorblind feature, but dbd is still not getting one.
Cmon dbd, even between them is getting it.

Everyone already plays among us like they're color blind anyways... I couldn't resist the joke.

As someone who is colour blind, the feature is very necessary, however, knowing this community, people will find a way and complain that it’s cheating to have colour blind mode on.

The thing is colours are required to play that game. There are minigames that litterally are connect the colored dots.
DbD not so much. You can play the game perfectly fine colorblind. The biggest issue is small aura's like survivors in the distance or aura's of hex totems but that isn't required to play the game.
So while it would be nice to have a colorblind feature it really doesn't hamper gameplay as much as other games like league and among us that did get one.
accessibility is important but when the game already is accessible it's not that high of a priority.

Tell that to the people that literally cannot see scratchmarks, auras or blood.

Its really embarassing that we need to rely on Windows and graphic card programs like Nvidia to provide colourblindness options in 2020.
8 -
Talk to a colorblind person about this
9 -
Probably, it will be add-ed in a dlc. You will have a chance to get Coloublind Fix in the shrine... :^)

Among Us requires you to tell colors apart.
DbD should have gotten it by now for sure, but it’s not as important for it compared to Among Us.
also I guess it’s way easier to implement it in Among Us and it’s not really abusable, which may be the case for DbD..

spoken like someone who is not colour blind.
What if for the colourblind person red and green sorta blend? becomes rather hard to see auras or a redstain doesnt it?
Also just for everyone's information: Digital Extremes, also from Canada, dev of Warframe, a....free 2 play game..., is adding customisable colourblind modes for just about every version that exists very soon soooooooooo yeah....pretty good job so far BHVR.

Tell me another game where you can not even set a resolution and optimize the game with graphic options so it runs the best possible way on your pc. Don't get me wrong I wish for the colorblind feature since it is a ######### show on maps like coldwind, swamp, yama ... but i doubt they ever will make it. Isn't exactly rocket science.

My boyfriend is colorblind. He plays the game mostly just fine. Yes he has issues every once in a while but it is by far not unplayable. Of course he still wants the option and I hope the devs introduce one, but a game like DBD doesn't rely on color AS MUCH as a game like Among Us does.

sorry but this isn't accurate. A lot of us who are colour blind cannot see blood, scratchmarks, red aura's etc Really not easy to play killer when you can't see any of those things.
DbD relies on colour an awful lot, more than the average person realises and the level that you are affected also depends on what form of colour blindness you have @ProfoundEnding so whilst your BF might not be affected, please take into consideration that other people are affected in different ways with different forms of colour blindness.

Yes I understand. He has red/green colorblindness so he's fortunately better off then someone who can't see color at all. Even then he still has issues seeing the auras and scratchmarks every once in a while.

So why is there no colourblindness mode again?
3 -
Why not just switch the game to a permanent colorblind mode? No one can be accused of using a mode to cheat if everyone is using it, right?
Scratch marks don't have to be red, neither does killer stain, blood trails..etc. This is The Entitys realm after all. She can make things appear anyway she'd like.
How much would the game change if everyone played in colorblind mode? Would it generally be hard for non-colorblind people to adjust...I wonder...I'm not colorblind so I don't know the secret of such vision...
1 -
Because there's different types of colour blindness which is why different modes are needed.

@MadLordJack , @ThePolice , @BioX
After this comment i decided to do some research on the matter.
After several colorblind simulators with different pics I will say that i was wrong.
I apologize for my uninformed post earlier
For anyone else wondering what it's like, this is the best picture i found of how it is to play with colorblindness

Oh, there not one mode to help across the board? How does any game make a colorblind mode then...it sounds difficult...poor colorblind people.....

I hate it when people say 'but a colorblind mode would ruin the atmosphere'... sorry, but what?

Protanopia is up the creek with or without help. Dang. I can't imagine...

Knowing BHVR, they'll probably develop a perk and call it a day. i mean, they have Shadowborn instead of an FOV slider and Bloodhound instead of a colorblind mode (for those that can't see blood)
3 -
Same people that say colorblind mode would ruin atmosphere probably want dancing emotes added to the game. 🙄
Colorblind settings should've come before the graphic update, or at the very least at the same time.

4 years later and still none.

To be fair im not colorblind and have 20/20 vision and i can't see ######### on those maps on console.

Sorry to hear that. I would also love to have this feature, because I know that some people would love to play DBD but because of their illness they can't. It's very unplayable for them.
And also this is another feature that BHVR ''promised'' from a while ago.

I would assume a 3D game involves more complexity than a 2d basic deception game.

I got my dog to play DBD and he was #########. He only got 2 kills and one of those was a DC.
We need a colourblind mode in the game!

but they allow nvidia freestyle so they don't have to. Never mind the changes you can make should at times be thought of as cheating with how drastically it can improve how well you can make out things at distance or people barely hiding. I want to play the way it is intended but the more I see how much better off others have it the more I'm leaning towards doing it anyway. Why shouldn't I when I have to at minimum enable instant replay incase I find another cheater since the anti cheat is garbage and without highly damning video it seems nothing gets done. Tell someone that clearly cheated you recorded it and you are just laughed at. They seem to have been doing it awhile to have gotten so brazen about it.
1 -
It's not the community saying that it would be cheating.
It's the devs... and it's BS.
3 -
Not even dancing emotes, but i've seen it here and there that they call for cosmetics or killers or survivors that would... not really work (child survivors, for example... and just... no. or 'clothes destruction' look, people, they're not going to add anything from 'Don't (bleep) in the Woods' no matter how much you insist)

I don't see a problem adding a colorblind mode. I see streamers (some of them fog whisperers) all the time using reshade to give an advantage in spotting survivors/the killer, so why care about a colorblind mode in the name of abusing the system? It is already being abused by the supposed champions of the DBD community.

As a console player who is colour blind it’s even more frustrating to not have accessibility options to help me and PC players rarely help push how important it is when they can fix it themselves and console is a forgotten minority of a minority (being colourblind and a console player) :(
1 -
There are different severities of each type of colour blindness too.
I also have a red/green deficiency and can only see scratches right at my feet.
With all the grass and ground clutter on the newer maps any scratches leading away from me disappear and I’m left trying to follow along staring at my feet instead of looking for the person I’m supposed to be chasing/following.
In a game like DbD where every second counts as killer, it’s an extremely unfun experience to lose people for no reason, particularly when I’ve just hit them and know there should be a track of scratches from where they sprint burst away from the hit.
I watch streamers play and it’s like a completely different game to the one I’m playing, and the killer role is already tough and stressful enough without having added layers of difficulty thrown on too by lack of colourblind options and poor console optimisation :(

I’m really surprised to know that one of the team is also colourblind, but it does fill me with a little hope knowing that someone on the team is also experiencing the similar struggles and that maybe some help might be forthcoming in the future.
I’ve been struggling playing like this since the console launch and a few times I’ve been ready to just give up as my experience is so much different to everyone else (colourblind and console problems) and that no solution would ever happen as PC players can fix the problem themselves on PC.
If I only got to ask for one thing for this game ever again it would be for these options to be added so I can start playing the game normally on the same level as everyone else has been experiencing.
It is Xmas in a few months, would you ask Santa Clown for this as a present to us all please? Even knowing that it’s been worked on would be good! And I promise I will never ever ask for another thing again, not even console optimisation <3

Ugh, yeah, the skin suggestions that are just more goofy than anything. Character suggestions like Scooby-Doo, not sure how that doesn't take away from atmosphere.
0 -
and then the same people will go and mock and badmouth suggestions like map-based collections for all original characters (like, old west outfits based on glenvale, hospital staffs based on lery's and where the nurse worked etc), citing that that would be 'unrealistic'

Because Zarina's Princess Jasmine sweats and David King's 1990s Ron Perlman Beauty and the Beast Greek cosmetics are totally realistic. 😂
