There needs to be some sort of timer outside of EGC

As I make this post I'm stuck in a game where the survivors are in some ungodly corner of the map immersed as all hell and refuse to do gens, this has been going on for at least 15-20 mins, I can't find them whatsoever and now am held hostage within the game. Crows are not going to spawn simply because all they need to do is urban evade elsewhere in the same corner. There needs to be something in place to stop survivors from simply just holding the game hostage because they want to.

Small update while I'm writing this, I decided to take another pass around the map and finally found one person doing gens. Sacrificed him, started EGC and let the entity take the last one, All 30-35 minutes after the game started, maybe longer. Regardless that I still managed a 4k, its a problem as the survivors feel no pressure to do gens.

And as a side note, indeed all four survivors had urban evasion.

If you have a recording of them refusing to touch a generator or progress the match in any way and just immerse around for 10+ minutes you can report them then use said video as evidence for holding the game hostage.

Yeah, i'd like to see a max. amount of time after which everybody loses.

They're hiding and doing nothing, but the Killer fails to find them, so it'd make sense to just have the trial end at some point.

    It happens.

But I don't think it's common enough to warrant a new feature surely.

Disagree. Having some sort of reasonable timer might actually put a little pressure on the survivors naturally. I'd consider that a good thing.

They already have something to pressure them: idle crows. But they can get around those.

But a timer would be unfair for both sides. What about games that legit take a long time?

And when the timer runs out, who wins?

If the killer wins, then that promotes killers protecting gens and ignoring chases.

If survivor wins, then that promotes survivors to purposefully hide and wait.

    I'm glad you asked.

    1) Idle crows currently are completely ineffective at preventing trolling survivors from hiding in corners of the map forever. Even slight movement resets the crow "progression". Perhaps, at some point in the match, the crow mechanic changes to require some minimum number of actions (charges) to happen to prevent them.

    2) What is a legit/reasonable amount of time for a trail? I was thinking either 20 or 25 minutes would be a good maximum amount of time for a trial. This should be more than generous to get the gens done.

    3) Winning is not really defined in DBD, but to answer your question, the survivors would all get sacrificed. Why? Because either they are trolling by not progressing the trial, or the killer is doing an exceptional job of preventing gens from completing. "Protecting gens and ignoring chases" This is common practice in early game to prevent gens from flying immediately, and should really be no different in the mid and end game. If a killer wants to try an run to the clock with a hardcore 3 gen strat, it is basically the same thing as what they can do currently, but the trail eventually ends.

EDIT: O good, I'm glad this thread got thrown into the oblivion side of the forums where nobody will read it.
