This is an entirely different situation, though.
You can't play DBD if you want the charm, because you can't be in a match to redeem it, and because it's during a stream, you have to watch a stream and hope for a code, and not play dbd or you'll have to disconnect or the code will go to everyone else, it's just a very backwards way of doing it.

I'm not entirely sure which part Mandy Edited, it looks the same I did remove a piece where I mentioned DCing but quickly removed it as that may be seen encouraging DCing maybe she didn't see the edit, for what it's worth Mandy is a great moderator and I stand by whatever she may have changed.

Again, asking for all the content to be available in a game you purchased with money shouldn't be a problem. I paid for the game, so I should have access to everything the game has to offer, aside from Licensed content for obvious reasons of contracts.
It's that simple really. This isn't a F2P, where I wouldn't complain about such nonsense.

If they add content that is free, such as this charm, it should be unlockable in game.

It's simply good customer service. That's all it is. I didn't realize things had to be written in a guidebook to actually give good customer service.
Also, if you say it isn't in industry precedent, I'm just gonna assume you don't play very many video games. Try MHW.

You're clearly not understanding this, are you? I still have to have DBD open to redeem the code, so I either dedicate my free time to redeeming this code -AS THERES NO OTHER WAY BESIDES IN GAME- or I watch a stream while doing something else, and hope I open it faster than everyone else who IS waiting for a code.
The fact you think this ok is absurd to me, I either dedicate all my time, because i have to watch a stream and have the game open anyway, or I just don't get the charm.
If I have dbd open I want to play, I don't want to leave it in the background to race for a code.

So can someone clarify this: the code is just shown on-stream, and it's whoever types it/them in first gets the charm? Not even randomly giving out the codes via DM or linking your DbD profile to twitch? If that's the case then B R U H. That's literally worse than when valorant were doing key drops, and things like CSGO and overwatch loot box drops in tournament streams. At least there they were randomly distributed and were sent directly to your account.

Yeah Limited uses is really crap considering they said they wouldnt do things like that any more. After the whole having to give EVERYONE cosmetics from previous limited events a year ago or so because people were actually selling their accounts or the codes for big bucks .

Cool you don't like charms, I do though, and I've been playing this game for 4 years, I shouldn't have to race to get a charm I really like the look of.
I hope they lock something you like behind a race where you have to dedicate time watching something you may not like so you have to race to get it, sounds really cool, just because you don't like something doesn't mean you shouldn't stand up against bad practices.
"this doesn't affect me so i shouldn't care about how bad this is for the game", standard selfish player imo

While I think the limited-time code is a bad idea, this is basically the same thing Overwatch does, but you earn sprays via watchtime of selected streamers (though they have updated to anyone streaming OW recently).
There is nothing wrong with promoting their community members. They, like everyone, are trying to make a living, and Behavior is trying to reward that partnership.
Take it from someone who has struggled with compulsions to collect and complete things in games; if you are willing to harrass, threaten, scream about, or generally act age-inapppriate over a couple polygons and textures, you need to do some reflection and maybe seek help.
It's disturbing that this kind of behavior has been normalized in the gaming community.

Making players watch a specific streamer for a Halloween charm code doesn't bother me as the developers want to promote their partnered content creators. However, the fact that these codes are limited is not good at all. Because of this, people who are actively trying to get the code (and watching a fog whisperer stream) may still miss out due to the limited nature of the codes. Due to some of these partners' large fanbases, I can see the codes being gone within seconds of a reveal.

Funny story, was playing a game (not DBD). Opened twitch to see if there was any streamer on... Puppers was. Openned DBD, tryed the first code and voilá... still on time.
He is giving a lot of codes right now.
