You can tell spirit's direction while she's phasing?
Thats cool and hopefully it doesnt hurt her that much.

It completely destroys her ability to be competitively viable.

All I hear is no more standing still "mindgame". Beautiful.

That's the dumbest take I've seen in a while. The only thing this changes is the stand still for free hit crap. The timing inbetween noises is too long for the survivor to get any major use out of it and ontop of that you shouldn't even be phasing long enough as Spirit to even let them hear more than 2 moans.

I played vs rank 1 PC spirit yesterday and it was so easy to juke and know when to vault etc. She had hard time catching me and ignored me half of the game. We almost won (last gen was at 90%) but because my teammates were purple ranks she got them easily.
I'm not an incredible survivor but I'm good enough and reach rank 1 as solo every month, so what I'm trying to say is if everyone in that match was as good as I we would have crushed a rank 1 spirit super easily and it shouldn't be that easy against any killer. Fortunately that bug was listed as an issue in McLean's stream so it will get fixed.

Thats unfortunate. I was hoping it would be a perfect nerf to her and the spirits will catch up to it and bait moans for hits. Apparently not.
1 -
Yes perfect nerf
Now she is not just ur i will stand still and you will have no info about what i am doing

You came to this conclusion after 1 guy said they went against a Spirit once and even lost? They said it was a bug anyway and will be fixed, even though this bug is exactly what Spirit needed. If you're against a good Spirit, knowing where she is isn't going to matter because she still moves at mach 5 while phasing and can get around things almost twice as fast as a survivor can. A good Spirit will also know where a survivor's gonna run to because they've played the game before and know how it works. This guy obviously played against a bad Spirit.
If you could "bait moans" i.e. know when you made a sound it could open up an entirely new playstyle for her. Think old Freddy, where you could mindgame survivors through the dream transition if you knew exactly when you phased in and out of view for the survivors (RIP old Freddy btw), but you actually moved at a high speed. This is what I've wanted from Spirit for ages: you kind of have a rough idea where she is but not exactly, and the audio cue is spaced out just enough to where you could potentially bait survivors with it if you knew when you were making the sounds. Sadly it's probably gonna be patched in a week so rip to the idea of Spirit having counterplay.
3 -
And now the survivor can just wait at a vault/pallet and listen for her to get close. You can get rid of the standing mindgame without completely gutting the killer. Giving the survivor information on where she is while she has to guess where you are completely puts in the survivors favor, which makes using her power pointless. She's a 110% wraith with this bug.
1 -
You can give her an indication of when she's phasing. Making her able to be heard all times is overdoing it.
0 -
It's actually kinda cool as you only hear it periodicly
Which means a good spirit can actually mindgame you with it by making you think you went one way and then go another

I was talking about the fact that McLean said its a bug. I played just one game against spirit and I lost to her as well. But I really enjoyed the chases I had against her. I dont run iron will and I was injured. I hear her general direction when she was phasing. I felt like I had a decent amount of counterplay and I knew exactly when she was baiting phase and when she wasnt (which was her biggest frustration). I really was hoping this was intended.

I've played against a couple of Spirits. Good ones still destroy, bad ones have a teeny tiny bit of counterplay. It's a nice start, and I hope they build on it instead of pulling a Surveillance.
3 -
If "good ones still destroy" when the counterplay has been cranked up to survivors getting to echolocate her for free while she can't see them... maybe the problem is boosted survivors?
3 -
Yeah, because PERIODICAL MOANING is the same as always seeing scratch marks, hearing injured survivors and seeing grass move.
Scott proved that a GOOD Spirit will still wreck everyone and that this bug doesn't make her useless.
And not knowing if she's phasing was always HALF the issue.

Oh buddy! Once I release my video on how to help Spirit main's deal with this (if the algorithm notices my video) Your going to be crying nerf again because she can technically stand still and negate that precious information survivor's crave to mindlessly loop!
Meet Wakizashi Saya! This addon helps Spirit maintain her phasing movement speed after coming out! She can use this bonus speed to come out of phasing early and close the gap and it will definitely giver her enough time to react to anything survivor's do if she comes out early enough!

Its periodic. Not continuous. I think it's fair and I've seen some streamers perform the same with her.

LOL, you must not play this game if you think DBD is in any way competitive viable
1 -
You could hear her footsteps while she was phasing since blight was released but I guess that wasn't enough

What did Scott do to prove this? Because as far as I’ve seen, Scott is like the most average Spirit player. He’s not GREAT but not bad either. I watched him play and lose a few times as Spirit.
I don’t think this bug has really any difference in the way you play Spirit. I played her a couple of times and I played the exact same way but I also don’t do the stand still “MiNdGaMe”. This bug is BARELY a nerf.
I also haven’t seen this bug from the survivors POV, I’ve only heard about it.

He had someone be Spirit, he guessed where they were by the one moan and then they revealed their location. They were always closer than you'd expect.
I'm in the same boat about the bug.
0 -
How? You just don't turn your camera and move only by keys. I was already doing this because I thought that's how it worked. lol
0 -
Cool, this game was never competitive to begin with
0 -
Hope they keep it, makes her more fun to play without destroying her.
2/3 of our big gamemodes are a complex ranking system meant to separate by skill level, this is absolutely a competitive game for some people.
2 -
Thank you! If you wanna play it casually, that's totally fine. But pretending that the people who play this game seriously don't/shouldn't exist is absolutely bonkers.

At the higher ranks, its common to lose 2 gens when you're about to make your first hook. If you don't get one before, it's typically a game loss for killer. While this bug was affecting her, I've been able to time pallets drops perfectly. I loop her around the pallet until she stands still. I can tell right away if she's faking or not, because the husk will no longer moan. Then I just wait at the pallet until I hear her moan get close. Worked almost every time. So if I was the first one chased, I could guarantee putting her in a game loss scenario, as long as my teammates haven't gone full potato. Remember; she's a 110% killer, so she relies on her quick chases to apply pressure.

Just curious, is this bug fixed yet or still isn't? I haven't played dbd in a while
0 -
It's been fixed. Although the fact that so many people were for this bug is concerning.
1 -
since when?
0 -
Would have loved to see it stay. Had fun in a chase against spirit for the first time. I lost the game mind you.
0 -
Wait, what was the bug? I've been away for over a year and have been playing mostly Blight since I got back.

When spirit was phasing, her moans comes from the exact place she currently is in every 2 seconds or so and its directional so you can tell which side she is or if she even is phasing at all.
0 -
You can hear Spirit's groans while she's phasing. This makes standing at a pallet and waiting until you hear which side she's on a viable strategy. It makes facing Spirit super boring.
0 -
As a spirit, you can bait the survivor into dropping the pallet and then coming around the other side. Spirit is fast enough to do that while phasing.
0 -
Oh I see. That severely affects her power. Glad they fixed that.
0 -
And then you hear her coming around the other side, and just vault it. Not really a good strategy
0 -
That's the thing. You don't. You don't go all the way to the other side of the pallet to bait your noise. You just go around the loop just enough to bait your noise and backtrack your steps. Backtracking can be done much quicker and the survivor wont hear your moan until it's too late.

I stopped playing her after they started taking away her ability to mind game (vault animation). Is this a new need or something?
