The "Never Stop Slashing" Outfit For Legion Needs Justice
Before I begin, here is the link to the original post showing off the outfit.
Body:
The body of the outfit is a massive letdown. The original drawing has a dark cloak with splots of neon spray paint to look incredibly flashy. The legs are, while not as dark, still relatively close to the shade of the jacket. What is in the game is a tattered jacket thar looks like it was pulled out of the garbage. The shoes are the only part true to the drawing.
Mask:
The mask is easily one of the worst letdowns in the history of this game. The original mask was supposed to light up and change expressions depending on the state of The Legion. Your classic expression would've been the mask that is in the game now, while if you were in Feral Frenzy or being stunned for any reason, the expression and color would change. The expression for the mori looked like something right out of The Purge: Election Year. Instead of something badass like the original idea, all we got is a recolor.
The devs said they don't have the ability to implement the ability for the mask to change expressions. This is a lie. For those that don't know, the Oni has this feature for when he activates Blood Fury.
Weapon: The weapon is the only part of the outfit to stay mostly true to the original design. However, the actual blade seems to be made out of metal shards when it should be glass shards.

The Legion wasn't coded to have that feature basekit. The Oni was.

It's a free skin, and if BHVR doesn't make money off of a skin, then they might as well not put any effort into it. Pure greed.
Notice how there is no special currency for this "event" too - no way to get the actually good skins without either buying overpriced auric cells or grinding the game for hundreds of hours just to get one cosmetic piece with shards. No good free skins for us.
21 -
They also didn't even give credit to Amacky, who was the original creator of the outfit in the cosmetic's description. I talked to Amacky and he also said they didn't even give the outfit to him for free.
(not my screenshot)
IMPORTANT EDIT: Amacky has said he contacted the devs and that he will be receiving the skin for free, however according to Amacky they have only "noted the error" of his name not being in the description. I'll update if I get more details.
IMPORTANT EDIT 2: I was wrong about the auric cell part, apologies.

There was already a discussion about this. It's very easy to implement something like this.
This time I even have an example - what would you say about the Pig's drill blade? Pig's original blade is not dynamic, while the drill has an actual animation, which changes depending on a situation - it stops for a while when you hit a survivor. Why not do the same to the mask? It's all very simple programming..

They simply put community. Lazy and disgraceful.
9 -
It isn't very difficult to add. The same thing has been done with both of The Pig's animated weapons.
7 -
If this is true then all I can say is wow. Completely butchering the design on top of not acknowledging or rewarding the winner of the contest for their amazing art and hard work. Really really disappointed with the devs on this one.
15 -
Did they put the name of the original designer for the Clown skin? If not then I dont see why it would be expected.

I don't get how Claudette lack of tacky whale tail needed more attention but the Legion cosmetic was good enough.
2 -
Early 3D renders of the Claudette outfit actually look really good. The only reason why is because more players are survivor mains and half of those survivor mains are Claudette mains, meaning people will want the outfit and therefore spend money on it.
2 -
It credits the creator on the set, but not on the individual pieces

To be honest the only new skin I genuinely liked was The Sunday Slaughter for The Hillbilly.

That's an excuse.
Legion already changes their noises based on their skin; it's not like the idea is totally alien.
Additionally, they delayed the Claudette outfit because it wasn't ready. If they really liked what Amacky had made they could have taken the time to make it work.
The community was in love with that design, people would have waited.

It's a free cosmetic though, only reason people would buy it is if they missed the rift/didn't get far enough into it.

Less people play Legion compared to Claudette. The Claudette skin will be put out as fully priced but with great detail, and all because people are going to buy it, no questions asked.
1 -
I mean, they didn't even put any real effort into their "legendary" outfits,so i don't see why people are surprised ar this point
3 -
Not even the purchasable Halloween outfits are good. Ghostface looks terrible; The Legion has clipping issues; Blight is decent, but the weapon is not worth it.

The Claudette outfit literally copied Nea's sweatpants even though the design was significantly different.
The design:
The leaked model:

If you turn out to be right and isn't in the next Rift or available for shards, I'll be [BAD WORD] mad.

It'll probably be on the premium track. So not fully priced, but still $10 and a bunch of grinding or $10 + purchased tiers.
1 -
Lmao. Hopefully that is not the final product. Especially when they said the outfit isn't ready to be released yet.
1 -
This is ######### disgraceful. They also ignored his suggestions on improving the model after saying "Oh yeah yeah, we get you, we'll work on that". Like, what the hell, BHVR?
2 -
Pig's original blade already has animations to it; it can pop in and out.
0 -
That's not what I was talking about. The original blade does not move at all nor has any special animations when you are running. The drill, though, is constantly animated and has cosmetic-specific animations, even though it was not, like you said, "part of her power". Why can't legion have the same thing?

Someone in reveal trailer on YT said that blight GF looked like a melted pepperoni
2 -
Imagine creating a contest promising any skin, then they do some lazy work, they don't gift the prize and recognision as promised to the winner and then ignore the feedback of the entire playerbase.

Because the Legion's mask doesn't change at all in-game (because it was not coded to). The Pig's blade does animate in-game (because it was designed to have moving parts). Now, if the drill/electric blade thing was able to contextually change based on what was happening in-game, I'd be absolutely on your side.
0 -
Oh, but it does.
When you hit someone, the original blade pops in and out like you said. The drill does that too, however it stops its 'drilling' animation during the cooldown and starts drilling again afterwards. So it does change based on what is happening in game. Riiiight?
4 -
Why am I not surprised.
1 -
I meant change as in physically transform. Not have another animation. Apologies for not being clear on that one.
2 -
Well, the legion mask wouldn't necessarily be physically transformed at all. Oni, as an example grows bigger horns during blood fury. That is a physical tranformation, and I agree that doing something similar would be a bit tricky to implement to legion. But the mask wouldn't get smaller or bigger or physically transformed, it would just display a different animation when something happens. Similarly to the drill

This comment made my day. Thank you.

Why even pick a design they're not capable of creating to its full extent?
4 -
If they truly didn't give it to the artist for free, that's awful. But, as for the design itself, I think it still looks really cool, and I'm willing to believe them if they say they couldn't get the mask to work. To my knowledge, there's no other cosmetic in the game that changes appearance based on events or state changes. The Pig's drill looks the same regardless of what happens -- it just spins. I don't know how the Oni works, but my guess is that the red effect gets applied to the general shape of his character model independent of his cosmetics.
It's not that it would be 100% impossible to make something like the mask work, but I'm willing to believe that, within the constraints they're working with, it wasn't feasible.
FWIW, if you designed a character concept for a video game as your job, you would probably get less fidelity in the final output than this.

The Oni's horns extend upon activating Blood Fury.

Thank you for your interest in my skin guys, someone send me a link about this post to see the discussion about it !
I can tell my original design is pretty different from the in-game version because they can adjust like they want the outfit. They did some mistake about the communication, it was a little frustrating but they corrected their mistake ! Maybe in the future with the graphic update we can expect some evolution for Legion and the skin, but I just hope we've got the changing voice effect for the mask !
Edit : I deleted the rest of my post because there was a huge amount of error in the translation, hope it's okay !

Obviously, I don't work on the dev team, and I don't know how they set the characters up. I also don't know the Oni's animation very well. But, there's nothing about the horns changing size or position that makes me think that translates into an easy way to animate a mask on the Legion.
