No wonder the balance in this game is so bad
This answer alone explains everything, it really does.
"There's an object, let me face camp him", yeah I wonder why the escape rate of OoO user is so low dev.
"devs do take fun into consideration too" Oh really? You think its fun for killer to face against OoO in SWF for 4 YEARS?
Oh I get it, the "fun" you were talking about was SURVIVOR'S FUN.
Edit:
So someone in comment keep telling me to post this in Feedback section, but this is NOT a feedback but a discussion,
we already gone through that feedback part, we already made feedback, many did,
and those feedback is why this official response about OoO exist on yesterday Q&A,
so we are discussing the nonsense about this official response.

The Devs worship the stats and never look at the info behind them. This is nothing new. They don't care about potential, they only care about what their little tiny spreadsheet of kills and escapes tells them. Which even my highschool statistics teacher could tell them is amongst the dumbest things one could ever do.
I generally don't like Dev bashing, it takes a lot of effort and soul to make even a barely functional game, but... That's not something that can be defended.

Oh good Christ.
OFFICIAL INFORMATION UNOFFICIALLY WORDED. DON'T DIG INTO THE WORDING OF IT. THIS ISN'T HARD TO UNDERSTAND SO DON'T DO IT.
REPORT IT IN THE FEEDBACK SECTION CIVILLY AND THEY'LL LOOK AT IT. FOR ######### SAKE HOW MUCH CLEARER COULD I MAKE THAT IN MY ORIGINAL POST.
2 -
Didnt they said the dont want strong syngergys between killer perks etc?
Why is it ok on the survivor side but not the killer side?
I am starting to lose my faith too..
8 -
Wording might be different, but the idea is the same,
their stands on Object of Obsession is very clear.
Don't even try to use this to stop people from discussing this and white knight them.
8 -
I'm not, I'm telling you to not take my wording as fact because it isn't. Yeah, the idea is the same, but again, report your feedback on the perk because it's listened to.

This post is not a feedback at all but a discussion,
we already gone through that feedback part,
and the feedbacks was also why this question even exist in the Q&A in the first place.

Whats the matter? He's totally right with his point. Anybody with a slight game understanding will say that this perk as well as keys and moris needs to be adressed asap. If you dont like that then dont show your fake overreaction just because someone is making a valid point. Ignoring game problems over and over again is not something what most of the community enjoys. Next thing you tell us is that you like the "event".
12 -
fake overreaction? no that was my legitimate one; truly amazing what anger issues can do to a person.
im well aware that these things need changes. im well aware there are serious issues with the game. im well aware this "event" is not an event. if youd hear me playing, youd understand that i know these things; that's usually what 2k hours does to a person.
im saying to not use my unoficially worded information as officially worded information.
maybe, just maybe, after 4k posts i know what im talking about, but i know to share my opinions on the subject matter in the correct section of the forums, in the correct way? not with snide developer bashing, but with actual arguments and experience?
wow, wouldn't that be a shocker.
1 -
Sure, I find the timestamp for you,
they did say all of these things and my points are still valid by quoting them,
can we discuss on this topic now "Mr. 2k hours and 4k post"?
9 -
"We will probably leave it as it is unless I see some statistics that show a deep problem with it" Can we all take a very big moment of bruh
6 -
Sure, OOO is a problematic perk. Please provide feedback in the Feedback and Suggestions section, as this is listened to, including your own experiences with the perk, instead of ranting and raving about how the devs can't do their jobs, if you want it listened to. That's how these forums work.

To be fair, this is has been complained about for years and they still haven't done anything and outright said they wouldn't fix it. It may feel like beating a dead horse for some players.
8 -
As I said, we already gone through that feedback part,
we already made feedback, many did, and those feedback is why this official response about OoO exist on yesterday Q&A,
so we are discussing the nonsense about this official response.
9 -
Giving up has never helped anyone, though. Perseverence is a pretty good character trait to have.
0 -
Still I don't expect anyone to even give anymore feedback after that response due to the dismissal of the issue.
4 -
I mean, I plan to, because otherwise they'll believe that everything is fine and dandy with the perk, when it really, really isn't.

Nobody but mods will see any of this. It'll not get brought to the dev team or balance team. It'll be archived with every other wasted breath of us PAYING ######### PLAYERS!

Here’s Ethan’s word for word response in case anyone was curious:
Yeah. Uh, Object of Obsession is one of these... really thematic perks that works well with the killer and survivor it was released with, Myers and Strode. Um. So I went and took a look at the recent statistics on this thing, and it's not used very often, and the survivors that use it don’t have a particularly high escape rate. So it doesn’t seem like it's an amazingly effective perk. But like Lightborn it’s one of those ones that you pick something for it to do, and you make it do it well, and whether that results in a high escape rate or not is not as important as whether it fills a particular gameplay niche. And this thing does. And Object of Obsession paired with, oh god it's the other Strode perk, um… Sole Survivor. Paired with Sole Survivor it has a nice pairing effect with that and because those are both perks on the same character, and because they’re thematic for, uh, those two characters, Myers and Strode, it’s something that we’ll probably leave as it is, unless I see some statistics that lead me to believe there’s a deep problem with it. Because the complaints on the forum aren't that the thing is underpowered, it’s that it’s overpowered, and since my statistics tell me that people running it don’t escape that often, I’m inclined to think that it’s a perception issue more than an issue with the perk itself.

Sorry that some of us lose patience after upvoting or writing some feedback about specific things for more than 5 times. Also with how frequent mods are in the General Discussions section it isnt a surprise that some people are writing it there, hoping to finally get some attention.
There are topics about certain things that are more than 2 years old that havent been adressed at all and now you want to judge people that are upset about that?
6 -
There's a reason why people say that they're completely disconnected from their game and playerbase.
7 -
I posted in the stream about this.
I asked them if possible not to look at just the stats of the OoO user but if they are in an swf the overall escape rates of that group.

Sure, go ahead. It´s not like there have been countless complaints about it over the years already. You keep saying the feedback is listened to when our concerns are dismissed as a perception problem.
Maybe you´re the chosen one whose feedback is actually taken into consideration. I doubt it, though. Unless you make a significant difference in Ethans statistics all by yourself, you will get ignored like the rest of us. Matt, someone who´s been through a lot with our community and knows all the ins and outs, about the game and about us, was also quickly dismissed by him when he tried to advocate for our interests. But yeah, maybe you will make a difference while everyone else gets nothing but condescending dismissal of their issues. Sorry, but at this point, telling people to post in feedback and suggestions about this matter is borderline insulting.
7 -
Like they would ever do that. It'd prove people correct and that's not OK.
1 -
Oof,for real?
-"We don't like perks that completely counters killers"
-"OoO is fine"
Devs,you have to pick one
3 -
Yeah, great to see that an important developer in this game can't look past statistic.Great.
1 -
I completely agree. They seem to make the most stupid changes based on "STATS". Something is being used too much? Let's not look on the reasons why, just nerf it. Something isn't being used that much even though in some situations it can ruin the fun of one of the parts? Leave it in.
But to be fair I think that's the same reason they haven't looked into iridescent head on huntress or some other broken add ons. They are not used all that much for them to waste their precious time balancing it.
So yeah.. let's nerf discordance without thinking about why it's used sooo much and let's leave OoO 4 men SWF going. So damn stupid.

Cote's comment after was left out which I think is very unfortunate. He pointed out that perks should be looked at if they aren't fun to go against even if the stats say the perk is fine. Granted after Cote pointed that out Ethan seemed to double down on it being fine but I do think it is worth mentioning that the game director thinks perks should still be looked at if people are complaining about the fun factor of going against them.
1 -
But they also made ruin synergise with undying and tinkerer which is arguably the strongest combination in the game right now. Literally a free win on Freddy, Billy and Blight unless you get horrible RNG. Not saying survivor perks don't need changing, object definitely does (and what the hell are the smoking lmao in what world does it have good synergy with sole survivor it won't even be effective on most killers until 2 survivors have died, and even then it's only hiding you for 16 meters and the match is over and object no longer has a use.)

Displays the survivor bias they have. That combined with the ridiculous gen speeds and the number of 2nd chance perks this game is awful.

A saying:
There are three types of lies; lies, damn lies and statistics.
