Dwightcrow fiasco
Devs I really appreciate that you try to do something fun and interactive with the fog whisperers but at this stage you really have to realise it's not working very well.
Firstly you guys promised not to do any more exclusives
Secondly console players are at a massive disadvantage in comparison to PC players just because how we have to type in the code.
To the point some fog whispers have gone out of their way to try to make it more balanced and even then it's not working.
Also massive amounts of appreciation to the fog whisperers who have tried to give console players the best shot they could. You didn't have to do that but it just shows how much you love your community.
Some fog whisperers just really don't like the code process and have just said screw it and at this stage I don't blame them.
Hell so people are even going after the fog whisperers when it really isn't their fault they have no saying how this works.
Honestly I still know we have a while until this event and the code finish but I really feel like you guys need to go back to the drawing board and try again with a different method.
As I said before I appreciate that you guys try to do something unique and interactive but it just doesn't seem to be working in execution like it probably did on paper.
I don't know what you could do about the DwightCrow charm
1) Find a different way to distribute it.
2) Just make it unlimited
3) Keep it how it is but definitely go back to the drawing board so you don't run into this problem if you ever try something similar.
Honestly I would prefer option 1 or 2 but that's on you guys

Also I know you guys are currently dealing with a lot of negativity right now.
So I don't want you to feel like I'm adding to it. I just feel like this is a problem that could really be ironed out really quickly or if not at least learnt from.

Instead of numerically limited codes they should just be active at different times, like change the global code every 3 hours and people have to watch to get the current one. Everyone watching gets it.
Do people also leak it on sites? Yes. Does that actually matter? Not in the slightest.
Do people watching these people just to nag for codes actually contribute anything of value to the streamer or show up again after they've got their code? Almost always no.
It's been seen with other games that run codes like this (Warframe glyphs and timed twitch drops on all partners) and it does nothing but create furstration and annoyance for everyone involved.
Good job, you boosted your twitch numbers for a whole weekend at the cost of the whole community hating you, that's so much better than just releasing a good event that would make people ACTUALLY WANT TO PLAY YOUR GAME.

Dwight Fiascrow... like whatcha did there
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I get you annoyed but try to limit the anger in the thread.
I really want them to read this and try to make this code thing better. Not just disregard this thread as too toxic
As I said in my post at this stage just finding a better way to distribute it like the one you mentioned or just straight up making it an unlimited code and just posting it on social media is the best way to go.
At the very least I'm hoping they learn from it and don't repeat something like this in the future. Whether it be another event or other special cosmetics or charms they want to release.

i spent around 6 hours on 3 different streams at the same time(that's all my laptop can handle) to get this charm as a console player.
I had my laptop in front of me, with a USB keyboard plugged into my xbox on top of my laptop for 6 hours all for a stupid charm.
I had to deal with typing out the code perfectly since you can't delete the code using the USB keyboard on the store because it won't let you and using the screen keyboard is too slow. I had to press A on my controller to enter the code and if i forgot to move the curser off the code line it deleted the whole code which happened more than i would like to admit.
if it was ANY other game i wouldn't have done this but because i love/hate this game and have been playing/collecting all exclusive things on it for 3 years i was compelled to do this.
I regret nothing and simply feel ashamed that the devs got what they wanted which was followers for the streamers WHICH IS WHY I UNFOLLOWED ALL BUT THE ONE I GOT THE CODE FROM and i probably won't view her streams anyway since i don't use twitch.
screw the code system especially when the code is stupidly long and can only be used 10 times.
10 -
Yeah because I'm sure they missed the hundred other threads in the last 24 hours.
3 -
I'm on ps4 and I ONLY got a code because a friend told me to turn on StreamDad_ because he only had few hundred viewers and was making an effort for console players. He spent hours just giving away the code, said 500 people redeemed the code. It took me an hour watching his stream to get one.
This wasn't fun. I get it's to bring viewers to fog whisperers but you can do that with codes that are unlimited rather than ones where console has to compete against pc.
For DwightCrow I think make it a log in reward for those that haven't received a code.
For Fog Whisperers give them BP codes instead to give out during streams. Make the codes be like the incent codes streamers use - only last for like 5 minutes during the fog whisperer stream but unlimited for how many can claim it. Fog whisperers can give those codes out whenever they want in the stream.
2 -
I just want my voice to be heard.
I feel like not going down their throat is the best way to do it.
DwightCrow might not be all that impactful to me but it will know the hell out of me because I am a collector but it's not like it's something that I'm going to 100% want to use.
However I will address the problem as if it was something that I would be desperate for because I would like if a similar situation happened to something I'm desperate for people that the same.
Or we could help at this stage is that the devs listen to our voices and at least try to make something better out over the code issue and the event as well
2 -
Honestly it's ridiculous.
The people receiving the codes aren't having fun.
The fog whisperers who have to go above and beyond to help their community are probably not having fun.
The people who have straight up with giving about definitely not enjoying it.
Even the people who finally got the charm don't seem to be very ecstatic about it because of how annoying it was.
The method around the distribution really needs to change
7 -
I know this is selfish but I kinda want it to stay at option 3 because as a console player who had to get the code for that charm, seeing other people who didn’t have nearly as much dedication get the charm would feel like a punch to the liver
1 -
Well I can understand the point of you I still think it's a pretty terrible outlook on it.
The whole concept of I had to drudge through sludge so that means everybody has to is a little bit ridiculous.
Personally outside of getting it as a collectible DwightCrow charm isn't something I'm necessarily crazy about I already have personalised hooks for most of my killers so I doubt I'll find a slot for it
However if there is an outright imbalance and it was poorly handled something should be done about it. The same way I would want someone to advocate fixing this imbalanced concept if it was a charm I really cared about for example something for Feng or Legion is the same way that I will advocate for people who probably really want this charm.
1 -
We are a community that thinks charms are stupid and also fights over charms.
But, yes, I think the 10-uses-per-code thing is creating more stress than happiness. It really should have been one use per code, and let the streamers distribute them however.
At this point, though, I don't think it's realistic to suddenly change the distribution model. Doing it this way was a mistake, IMO, but that's what's happening.
0 -
at this point throw the idea out give it to everyone who login to the game so we can stop watching the streamer and really play are own game.
at this point were in these people streams for a code not because we watch them normally
edit another idea would be make the codes unlimited or more then 10 uses like 100 or 200 I mean you know how many play your game.
1 -
this is making me really annoyed and sad, i just want the code :(
0 -
Honestly at this stage I don't know what do they can do as someone has pointed out it might be too late for them to do anything about it.
Honestly as much as I hate to say it people have a right to be irritated at this. This whole code promotion has caused more stress than enjoyment for both the Fog whisperers and the people who want the codes.
Hopefully they're able to do something about it. Even if it's something as simple as doing a batch of codes with an increased number of people who can claim it like 50 or something but it's very doubtful
1 -
Gotta love having something tied to an event that requires you to have the game open but actively not playing it and instead watching streams of the game.
9 -
they did something about earning (more like damage control) so maybe they do something about this like make the codes unlimited or make them limited with added more times to use it like 100 or 200 people before it gone.
but it should be if you just login to the game.
1 -
Yeah it's ridiculous especially because I know friends who are massive fans of Dwight so they desperately want this charm instead of actually enjoying this event they've spent the majority of their time I'm just sitting in the store page with the code screen open hoping they managed to get that code out just in time.
It's absolutely ridiculous.
Whether they do something about the Dwightcrow charm or not is currently up in the air but hopefully in the future they never repeat this fiasco again.
A limited code system like this just doesn't work if they want to try doing something with fog whisperers again make it a twitch drop system so it would be far better
2 -
They distributed it this way on purpose. Why else would they have it solely distributed through twitch except to boost their twitch viewer counts for their game?
It's plain as day they just want to stuff as many people as possible into those fog whisperer streams to try to boost their metrics.
The item is worthless and there's no reason not to just give it a code like the other two holiday charms.
Just another corporate money making scheme.
2 -
Jaded way of thinking but can't blame you
1 -
I think they deserve all the negativity. They're finally getting karma for the way they treat the community.
1 -
so let me speak to your points:
First of all your comment about them saying they are no longer giving out exclusives. this is very true, and what you fail to take into account is how long till the charms start hitting the store for them to be bought and are no longer "exclusives". the idea they were talking about and expressed some what badly is that they do not want any "long term exclusives" but a short term exclusive can be very nice and give people a smile that they got it.
I got my code after about 3-5 times and all was good. I was even playing final fantasy 14 at the same time! I got the code to work while I was in an instance fighting even! (YES i'm on PC). I still had fun watching the one I was watching! completely had fun!
Secondly: I will agree console players are at a disadvantage. I can't speak to it because i have no experience other than understanding i gained from my acquaintances with consoles over the years.
now to your enumerated points:
1) find a different way to distribute it. well they did, before it was forum posts where only a few people got it and they only posted once every so often so they didn't change the code. people gave up because they were gone when they finally heard about it days later (myself). so this is a better way.
2) make it unlimited: problem here now is the re-selling of the code so now instead of a free code everyone pays some third party 10 bucks for the charm (or 5 what ever) and behavior gets NOTHING of that back. great idea for those that sell codes for people lazy enough to not go looking. look at the golden feng outfit, many people paid 100's or 1000's of bucks for the "RARE" outfit it is no longer rare and now people are upset they paid someone else for that code long ago.
3) keep it how it is but definitely go back to the drawing board... this is the exact same as #1 so see that answer as they DID do this.
When you talk about people going after the fog whisperers, this is a problem with the people EXPECTING everything to be given to them. and that is the problem with this community, if you can't get it free it's not worth it but you'd want people buying it from someone else who then gets rich on it. The people that attack the people giving the things out, well I'd say that's their problem and their manners that need to be adjusted.
you should really come up with a better way and suggest it since you're asking them to go back to the drawing board and find a better way!
0 -
That may be but if I made this post with a bunch of negativity it would probably get deleted.
As I've suggested they should probably just at this point make an unlimited code for the cosmetic and give fog whisperers Shard and bloodpoint codes instead
0 -
Well I just posted a very critical post about bhvr so I'll let you know if it gets deleted. Which it probably will lmfao.
0 -
A way I could suggest having a new batch of codes that has a larger number of people who can access instead of 10 probably make it something like 50 or maybe even 70.
also you can't really compare making It Unlimited to golden Feng.
There was literally no way to get that cosmetic without out the one per use code and the only place you could really search for it was third party places.
This is something they could simply advertised the second you load up the game they have a news bulletin

Face it, the devs don’t care, and have never given a damn about console players despite their claims otherwise. It’s easy to tell by the lack of effort and testing of any new patch for starters. Console is only a thing as it’s an cheap easy port over and a steady cash cow, THAT is the only reason dbd is on console. They play on PC, so that what they care about, they’ll make sure PC get all the cosmetics as a result.
2 -
I'll keep trying. when I can, though I do find it very frustrating sometimes. I'm on PC and they're still gone in less then a second. I entered the last digits the second they were revealed and the code was already invalid. I know only 10 people can get it per code but this doesn't seem humanly possible to get it.
and I have pointed this out to some, and it is quite rare but sometimes people start throwing random digits as the streamer is about to reveal them to throw people off so they get it wrong.
I think the charm is cool and I'm doing my best to get it but I feel the frustration.
0 -
put it to 50 or 70 and you STILL get people crying, it's unfair! it's unfun! I can't get it! I can't type it in fast enough! so you just push the anger back a few minutes max probably less than a minute.
I didn't compare making it unlimited to golden feng. I talked about how it'd be 3rd party monetized just like golden feng. after a while newer players wouldn't have it, and it won't be easy to find and google searching will lead to the 3rd party. well you don't need to be a doctorate candidate to see where that leads.
so lets not forget this was a way to reach out to others that don't go to the forums or twitter much. but everyone has to say it's crap because they can't get it. well i'm sorry but that's more the I wanna get something free but i can't type fast enough and i'll complain.

The codes become invalid after the the Halloween period and as I said Dead by daylight has its own in game News Bulletin so there's no way a third party could take advantage as a Google search would reveal then every code has already been discontinued.
I made this thread typically to point out about how imbalanced in actually is. I already have the charm however that doesn't mean I'm not going to advocate for something like this to be ironed out whether you consider that complaining or not

I finally got the dwightcrow on console. Go here now https://youtu.be/1hPt5TW-WI4

it was literally as simple as giving the previous 2 for everyone, that would of been nice and fair.

As you all can imagine I would love this Dweet crow charm. I spent 2 hours watching a fog whisperer's stream with the in game store open trying hopelessly to get one.
I eventually gave up. Its an awful and frustrating way to do it. I wasn't having fun trying. It was just a waste of time. Too many people jumping on a code each time.
0 -
If they want it limited maybe instead of “first come first serve” they do it as a raffle style event. Everybody who enters a code is entered in a raffle that triggers at a specified time and a random selection of entrants receive the prize.

This still worked for me and I saw it about 30 minutes after you posted it so thanks for that. Surprised some of the codes were still valid. Beats having to lurk a twitch stream for hours
1 -
I tried 3 separate codes on that video. All are already gone. They'll likely all gone by now.

https://youtu.be/1hPt5TW-WI4 try the new vid

Many of us don't have the time to spend watching streams for hours (or days) though.

While BHVR's intentions probably were great, i think its pretty bad to ask people who dont watch Streamers to go ask for codes.
Forcing them to sit like hungry dogs, watching someone they dont care for, leads only to hatred. Dont you agree?

Too late now.

Did you watched this channel because of my thread ? :D
0 -
all codes don't work thank anyways.
I'm sure there are pc user getting more then one charm on alt acc to sell later did the dev think of that.
0 -
Yep! Thank you! I subbed, notifications on, and i was on my phone with PS4 on the moment he uploaded the video.
1 -
I also happened to get one on ps4 earlier today from his youtube channel. Thanks.
1 -
Glad i could help you guys!
Its really easy to get the codes from him and he makes good content too. :D

Honestly I think it's a really great thing that you're helping people out you don't have to but it's really great that you've taken the time to.
Even though this whole code thing hasn't panned out the best it is still great to see people in the community helping each other trying to overcome it whether they be fog whispers or other people trying to help people get the code.
1 -
Thanks for this nice words. ^^
I hope you got the charm too?
0 -
I was angry at the way this was handled and I do still think 10 uses per code is nowhere near enough, but now that I have the charm idk anymore. It's sad that console players are at a disadvantage though.
This whole event has been a bit of a let down for most people I think, I just hope that BHVR learns from this and makes future events and charm drops better.

This is dedication my friend I gave up after watching multiple streamers some who are not even in the same language as I speak oh and the delay from twitch aswell on mobile as I have to sit there with my game open for 6 hours -_- still coudlnt get one so I guess this is another item I sadly will not have :( it sucks as I try to get everything I’m abit of a completionst:(
