Anyone else getting bored of this game?
The only incentive to play is to grind for the good perks and stuff. Survivors don’t even need perks if they’re good enough due to the balance issues of gens getting done fast.
Im sick of playing nurse and billy. I tried to mix it up but at high ranks, it’s not fun. Survivor is not fun to me because it’s loop, gen simulator.
I dont want to quit because I enjoy horror games and I can see potential in this game. But at its current state, it’s stale and doesn’t seem to be getting any better core wise.
Also, as I mentioned earlier, I legit was trying with mid-low tier killers. Verse the optimal teams, I’d get a kill or 2 on average right? Ok so I got tired of that, I switched to camping leatherface and I was 4k’ing consistently. Pretty sad. Survivors were literally handing me the match game after game. I guess you could say they were bored just doing gens and leaving lol.

I quit all the time. I play like for 2 months then come back 8 months later and have some more fun with it. Not really a game that's supposed to take up a large portion of your time. Feel free to play other titles and come on when you want.Game doesn't really have a lot of stuff in it to explain someone playing 5,000 hrs. I've had it since release and I'm sitting at 600 hours or something like that. It's easy to come back to. Get rank 1 as soon as I come back to it. Only struggle is learning why people are beating me with new perks I had no idea existed.

How long have you been playing DBD? Eventually, burn-out happens, and it's time for a break.
As an example, I was in Overwatch from launch day until end of September. So, from May 2016 until September 2018. Finally, between knowing the game in and out, knowing counters and kits, maps like they were my own neighborhood, being effective with a majority of the Heroes, and making the mistake of caring about SR Rank, I had to step away from it. I was bored as soon as I pressed the Play button.
So, I came to DBD a few weeks ago.
Now, I don't know if DBD will hold me for two years like that. I'm about to turn 46 years old, and the bloodpoint grind in the game as a new player for Teachables, never mind the complete RNG nature of the bloodweb, makes some Asian gaming grinds look attractive by comparison. But, we'll see.
As far as the game's potential. Never play a game based on its potential, only whether or not the Devs are going in a direction you enjoy in the here and now. Overwatch has a ton of potential, but it's potential that will never, ever, be seen by Blizzard. Same is true of Paladins with Hi-Rez, and other games and studios.

Here is a suggestion. Make it fun. Do less than optimal things. Run different perks. If you do anything repeatedly, it will get old. Play different killers even if you don't think they are the best. Challenges are fun. Make the game more challenging. Don't fall into the trap of thinking you have the optimal game play solved so you never experiment. And if you just can't bring yourself to do that and this game starts to feel like a job then you should quit or at least take a break. Don't forget that the only objective in a video game is to have fun.

And they really won't. I researched and studied DBD for about a year before finally landing here. The forums, reddit, streamers, the dev streams, and YouTube guides. I even correlated perks and add-ons at the Wiki.
I saw before popping in here that the game, despite being 1v4 pvp and having "Ranks," was very casual in many of its core design choices. I mean, having been a Blizzard player, I will tell you that both Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm are casual in core designs, but they also do enough to maintain an Esports scene for themselves.
I did not see any such elements in DBD, and was not shocked when the attempted tournament was such a disaster.
Which is why I feel so many Forum people who play DBD "competitively" are so frustrated. So much of the core design with the way they created a lot of Perks and Add-Ons that are in the game just doesn't support any type of serious competitive play.
Too many Perks and Add-Ons, probably most the system, would need an overhaul for that to really work.

If they're looking for a true competitive experience in a game with design and balance elements that can support that, or an eSport, then sadly: Yeah, this is really the wrong game to look for that.

I am also. I only play 3-4 matches a night for my channel, but after that I dip into Skyrim (250+ mods lol)
With so many new and interesting games on the horizon I can't help but think that the devs are going to continue to hamstring themselves by doing the same thing they've done for years... Ignore the big things the community has issues with. Or even worse, make changes that no one asked for (flashlight and Pallet Stun changes are still my favorite examples)
They're going to reap what they sow, but many of us might not be around to see it...
I'm waiting for Last Year and FO76. Hopefully they are good enough to fully dive into.2 -

From a casual standpoint, it might be getting better. I don't know. But as far as being an actual competitive game . . . yeah, DBD isn't that type of game due to design choices they made and stuck with.
Whether or not the game continues to hold steady at places like Steam Charts for another year, remains to be seen. They might be banking on the fact that casuals really are the majority. And they are. To cite a recent example, even Blizzard admitted that in Overwatch, which pushes Competitive play and even created the OWL to further market and push the concept, the game modes, from most played to least played by the playerbase, goes: Arcade, Quick Play, Competitive.
I've seen other studios over the past few years say that Competitive mode usually hovers around 15% of the playerbase, too.

@iTz_KilLaZ_x But see my edit to the post right above your last reply. If they did so something major to push the game into being able to handle real competitive play, they are absolutely going to have to add a mode without Rank, or risk potentially losing a huge chunk of players who don't want to deal with Rank and serious competitive play, and just want to have fun playing a slasher film survivor or killer.
Competitive mode is rarely the most played mode, and for a reason.

Dude, it isn't a fact. Water is composed of 2 Hydrogen atoms and 1 Oxygen atom. That is a fact. How viable killers are in this game is an opinion. Marth88 and his band of Claudettes didn't prove crap. The game he did his experiment on isn't even the same game we're playing today. The win conditions for killers and survivors aren't the same. New killers, new survivors, new perks for both, and balance changes have happened since. If you want to let one lame youtubers opinion sour your opinion of the game then I can't stop you. But I don't think the game is the problem here, I think your attitude is.

Gens can still be done in mere minutes. Survivors still have tons of crutches. Pallet looping still destroys 75% of the killers in this game. I could go on buddy. I don’t care arguing with you. You can have your view and I’ll have mine. I’m quitting anyways so go ahead and think you’re right all you want.Dreamnomad said:@iTz_KilLaZ_x said:

@iTz_KilLaZ_x To be honest, I don't have an issue with DBD being competitive or casual at this stage. Don't get me wrong, if it made design changes to go hardcore competitive mode, I would uninstall it in a heartbeat. I won't lie. Been there and done that crap in both Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm for two years, and at my age have no interest in ever going back to it. I just want to play and unwind from my day, and DBD (or the Quick Play modes in those two games) allows me to do just that.
The issue I have with DBD as a new player is the completely asinine bloodpoint grinds to unlock needed Teachables on so many different characters, and then the completely RNG nature of the bloodweb on top of that. This is the dumbest system, outside of an Asian grindy game, that I have ever seen.
Add to that the fact that once I hit Rank 15 (which will happen long before the grind ever begins to pay-off), I've opened myself to be going against de-ranked, normally Red Ranked vets with 2+ years of grind and RNG luck behind them. And I really have no desire to play and get out of the grey ranks.

You're the guy who spends hours swimming in a pool and then when he's bored of it and ready to leave takes a dump off the diving board. If you want to leave then leave. No one will stop you. No one will care. But don't try to ruin the game for others before you leave. Don't make assumptions about what this game is like for other people either.

I personally am still having fun, but i DID burn through my "addiction" after roughly 1.500 hours.
Since then i've slowed down VERY hard, playing other games more frequently than just this game.
But it's how i keep it fun.1 thing that never helped keep it fun for me is the community.
(Not you guys, unless you tell me your Steam name and then i see you talk ######### to me ingame.
)
I mean sure, you got all these people who at least don't talk ######### on forums and streams, but they're in the VAST minority, and some of them are probably fake too: Pretending to be nice in forums and streams, then shitting all over others in the game.
Gg's are very common to me now, yet there's always 1 person who either just can't stand losing in a videogame or has heavily overcharged their ego from winning.
What Not_Queen said on stream once, talking about how we're all playing together, lol yeah: We need eachother to play.
But personally, i never feel the way she does. I feel more like i'm signing a contract with my archnemesis whenever i open or join a lobby.TL;DR
I can have fun, but not the same way as i could for the first 1500 hours.- I NEED other games. If i play this for the entire day, i'll get more tired than before and probably uninstall it.
- I NEED to avoid communication ingame with others. I can only take so many death threats from high rankers who joined SWF so they could bully low/mid rankers.

For the record, I am as nice in-game as on the forums. Why get angry over a video game? I admit, though, that focusing on Competitive mode for 2-years in Overwatch ended-up doing just that to me. And up until then, I was always a laid back, casual gamer just looking to unwind from the day. That's why I will never play "Competitively" again. I am too old for that #########, and don't like what the self-induced stress does to my enjoyment.
But yeah, I really am a nice guy in-game.
That's why my two Streamers of choice are StreamDad_ and Furryinahurry. Not huge channels, but very chill and about just having fun.

It you really versed optimal teams, a camping leatherface would result in a mere one kill (if at all) and never in a 4k.
If you are sick of nurse/billy, why not play the other, worse killers in lower ranks where you can enjoy them? Thats what I currently do until the devs manage to get their ######### together and balance DBD, assuming that will ever happen.

I never said the camping LF matches were agaisnt optimal teams. How do you depip fast? Quit matches?DeadByFlashlight said:@iTz_KilLaZ_x said:
Legit question. Starting out, it’s fun. You learn how to play optimally on both sides. But after you get both down, how is it still fun?The only incentive to play is to grind for the good perks and stuff.

For me the game is just loosing its fun . Its not balanced by far , there are issues that have been here for years , and frankly it feel like its being very neglected by devs who would rather put more unbalanced and unfisnished content in then to fix what they have that is broken .
I play for fun and to relieve stress sometimes , sadly this is where its falling short . I don't determine fun by win or loose but having a good game . If im playing and we steamroll the killer because I get into a swf tryhard group as the 4th player to their 3 man . its not fun for me , and I cant see how the killer who gets steamrolled and flamed in the post match chat is having fun .
Balance is way off , maps are bad designed (though they have been working on these) , perks are either useless or op for the most part , totems are a joke at best , but worst of all the community of players is sooo very toxic . it doesn't matter if you play good or bad skill wise because you know the after match chat with be a sea of ######### 90% of the time . And the devs have allowed this behavior to grow and infest the game in so many ways .
Its obvious if you look at what the devs do and don't do that this game is nothing more then a cash grab . Most of the largest issues have been around since launch , all the proposed changes to things people seem to care about get put on hold . They are not trying to build a legacy , or a franchise , they are trying to make money , plain and simple , and it shows in how they conduct themselves . Ignore the hotbutton issues and instead make new customizations and chapters to keep money coming in and replace a dwindeling playerbase .
When I started playing this originally the after match was say a killer who would ask if im fairly new and then offer me tips or perks I might want to look into . if I played a new killer because of a daily a couple survivors would say you new to that killer? well you did a good job but this is a trick that works for me , might try it out . People were helpful and friendly , now in the after match you get ggez you douch , get gud , lern 2 ply , or if you do good reguarless if it was true or not trash killer , camper cant play , and so on . This is what takes the fun out of the game , toxic community . and the only ones to blame for that besides the toxic players are the devs for allowing it , but if they are making money who cares how right?

Im coming up on p1 all killers, p2 on nurse, p2 on survivor.
Its been entertaining starting over from scratch now that i have a better understanding of the game.
I could see it becoming boring once the grind is over, p3 50 all perks and such, but still plenty entertaining.0 -
A few days ago a Freddy with no perks or addons killed all my SWF team. To be honest, it was a total new experience LOL He is not that weak and sure this forum loves to whine about everything.Dreamnomad said:@iTz_KilLaZ_x said:
How can I as a killer main have fun when only a select few killers are viable? So many killers rely on survivor mistakes and that isn’t fun to me... maybe I should just quit though.
That is a BS excuse. Every killer in this game is more viable than the whining on the forums would have you believe. Just change your attitude so that the objective is to have fun. The game instantly becomes more enjoyable.
