How do you counter deathslinger?

I know that c walls are very good against him but a half decent deathslinger can land shots at pretty much any other jungle gym if they know what they’re doing.

apart from relying on the deathslinger missing, how do i counter him?

i know that he has low map pressure so generally if everyone sticks in gens you can counter him but what i mean is like how do you counter him in chase?

i will happily go for a chase with any killer but death slinger just makes me wanna commit mass cockpunch. i feel like he has very limited to zero counterplay and how the game will go is by how well the killer is, not the survivor.

You could be the best survivor in the world and if a deathslinger with good aim comes to you well then yeah. I just wanna die every time i play against one.

Outpace him. Deathslinger is kind of slow at everything he does, so be fast, be efficient and you'll probably beat him.

The other thing that almost no one mentions is try to get shot in spots where you can hook yourself on some scenery and keep him from stabbing you after the shot. If you manage to do that when you're already injured, Deathslinger basically got nothing out of shooting you and wasted a bunch of time. Time he doesn't have.

    What he said ^^^

SethDinger is like a buffed Clown, excels at 1v1 chases but can’t do much of anything else. Split the map, don’t group together giving free pressure.

In a chase you dont counter him, either he misses or he doesnt but there isnt much you can do against a decent Deathslinger, landing a hit is on his end not yours.

The only thing you can do to extend the chase a bit is going LoS as much as you can and having a very long headstart, the very moment you see him coming and you are positive he saw you, start running so it takes him more time to catch up and maybe try to juke him on a high wall obstacle.

Sounds like you haven’t adapted to Slinger yet. Try dropping the pallet and making distance.

Yeah I just kill myself on the hook if he is a pro its just completely unfun and there is zero counter, especially if you only play soloQ exclusively. I'm sure its a different experience for veteran SWFs.

That’s his whole deal. He is extremely strong in the chase, and a good one will always come out on top, but he is poor at everything else.

Best bet are fakes at windows, but even then that might not be enough against a good one, hence why rushing gens are your best bet.

Stay out of line of sight, wiggle when he's aiming at you, drop the pallet early when you're injured.

When you get into a chase against deathslingers your goals are to:

    Keep Distance

    Avoid staying in LoS

Keep objects between you and deathslinger to break chain on

Basically you just want to do things that prevent Deathslinger from successfully shooting you and dragging you back for a M1. Eventually he'll catch up and M1 you, but that takes a lot more time. Bonus if he misses a shot or you break the chain as they will take even more time from Deathslinger.

I know everyone hates this dirty word: Stealth.

Like Clown, you’re meant to be highly screwed if you’re in a chase against Deathslinger. I.e. The odds are MEANT to be oppressively stacked against you.

So the goal is to not get into a chase in the first place.

    • err on the side of caution
    • choose gens carefully. Rather than be on gens (and the side) that blocks you from view, be where you have the most clear LoS so that you can leg it and hide the moment you spot him.
    • Be mindful of your environmental cues you give off.

Try and keep pallets when you are not injured since she can shoot over and injure you anyways similar to Legion.

Once injured, don't be greedy and play safe by dropping Pallets pretty early. If it's a short loop (macmillian junk loop for example) where he can shoot over and reel you around you can still drop the pallet to create a bigger obstacle for him and he probably won't be able to reel himself around to you.

If you have the High Ground, get out of LoS since he can counter it and pull you down. Don't uderestimate his Power even if you have the High Ground.

Hold W and hope that there's debris/tiles in the way so he can't get a good shot.

utilizing obstacles, splitting up doing gens, understanding how to use the burst of speed you get after getting hit to make it to strong tiles.

He's not really hard to counter, you just have to think. He interrupts efficient pathing, so you have to play inefficiently to counter him in a chase.
