Question: Would increasing the rank number allow for smoother progression in skill?
Let's say they raise the rank from 20 to 50. Do you think you'd expect "better players" to be more towards the rank 1? Would people give up on trying to reach it?

It won't work. It'll just lead to those who are super good at the game purposefully deranking cuz wait times at higher ranks are too long. So those that are super good are chained to the highest average rank. Then as time goes on everyone eventually hits rank 1 again. Only now newer players are even more intimated by the rank numbers.

It would definitely allow for a better separation of skill levels, but I'm not sure if players would like it. Too many people in ranked games (not just DbD) think they should be able to climb in ranks indefinitely, regardless of their skill, and that it's always someone else's fault when they can't.

The first thing I thought when I read it was - lobby times would certainly increase a lot. For that reason alone I am not sure if this would work.

I didn't even think about the rank times. But aren't they pretty mixed with the ranks you can get right now anyway?

Honestly 20 Ranks are already more than enough. I don't think the skill difference between players is that hugh actually. And considering tha the ranking system is more about grind/time investment than skill, I doubt it will have any positive impact on the game.

Although I agree it is about the grind, you do have to be hitting certain objectives after a point to be getting those PIPs

This is just going by what happened in the past of dbd. I dunno if they've changed things but if they haven't and things are already this slow with rainbow ranks then 50 ranks would just make things worse.
