Time to take responsibility BHVR!
I've got some advice for those at BHVR.
Instead of banning people for DC, which is just a band-aid fix you apply over a plethora of problems this game has. Why not fix the issues which cause people to DC in the first place? Like I don't know, lag switching maybe? I see you are pumping out microtransaction cosmetics every single week, why not use that time wasted on these, and money for that matter, to get dedicated servers. Its completely overdue. Banning people for using the leave game option in game is completely up to them, you need to ask yourself why people would want to stay in a game where a killer is lag switching, or playing as a killer, a survivor is hacking, or looping until the end of time after a DS. (WHICH IS STILL TO BE NERFED?). And no don't say use the report feature in game, we all know this is just a placebo effect to make people believe there is consequence, but people with sense know otherwise.
Also I've got a question that I don't think a lot of people seem to raise, why when I play a survivor (regardless of rank) do I get teamed with people <1 hour played, hiding in lockers, failing skillchecks, running into the killer, cannot loop. Yet, at the same rank as a killer I get full legacy P3 lobbies of survivors, all 360 pro's, working together regardless SWF or not. Why do I see this pattern, why have I seen this pattern for an alarming amount of time now. Its clear you have some algorythm at work to rig the match making, but most people will just put it down to bad luck. More fool them.

The problems that make people want to DC are primarily yours BHVR, punishing people for your failures seems to me like a terrible way to do business. People play games to have fun, not subject themselves to torchure, a lot of people brush under the carpet all the fundamental game design flaws this game has. You shouldn't punish people that won't put up with that, and would rather try getting into a another game.

The amount of disconnects stands in no correlation to the amount of lag switchers.
I've over 1000 hours and I can count the lag switchers I've seen on 1 hand.
Almost every match has people disconnecting, because there was no apparent punishment.
Also, the switch from peer 2 peer to dedicated servers is way more complicated than you think. It's probably not even possible, since it may be hardcoded.8 -
I cannot accept that dedicated servers are not possible. Also this is not what I'm desputing, what I'm talking about is banning people for leaving games, using the in-game feature the developers have provided and punishing people for using it is beyond insanity. Especially considering the current state of the game, how unbalanced, unstable it is, what do they expect when people DC. Banning people for this is completely unethetical, and a waste of their own time. Instead as I said above. FIX the problems which cause people wanting to DC in the first place!

Coding something like dedicated servers is tough work and can take up to 6 months to implement if BHVR was only focusing on implementing dedicated servers or more than a year if the team works on it slower than normal. Basically, it's gonna take awhile to program in since the game is built for peer to peer connection and not for dedicated servers. However, this can be added in later!6 -
Having almost 700 hours, I have barely encounter any lagswitchers.
I have, however, encountered PLENTY of survivors who DC the second they get caught, the second they get hooked, the second their DS miss, the second they realize that they might lose their flashlight..
I've also met killers who DC if they bump into a wall with Leatherface's chainsaw, when they get slammed with a pallet, if a chase take longer than 30 seconds, they get DS'd..Punishment for DC'ing needs to happen.

Honestly, the things that make people DC are usually personal issues.
Map, Killer Choice, Offerings, Being Downed First, Totem Destroyed.
This is the 3rd or 4th post I've seen being made trying to justify DCing and saying it's a problem with the game and instead blame it on things survivors do or things that killers do that "force" people to DC.
6 -
what you said here is spot on , cant have said it better myself, about time the developers actually did some work instead of doing another expensive cosmetic item a week. would be nice if others discussed your other problems that you stated with the game, dedicated servers is just another problem of a game wide issue
7 -
I'm not an expert on this matter as apparently most people are here, but like I said. If they put the time money and resources they waste on microtransaction cosmetic items, and channel that into transitioning to dedicated servers I'm sure they could do it.

for some yeah but not all, leaving games shouldn't be bannable at all when they have added a leave game option? if its a bannable offence then why is it there? but please theres more to the post than just dc maybe answer some other things the person has said.

Most of what I actually spent the time to talk about in my original post has been completely ignored. I'm assuming because people don't have the ability to articulate a response that can challenge what I'm saying. Oh well the LOL feature is there instead for those unable I guess. Pretty good job so far!

Maybe they finance the development of dedicated servers with those skins.
Also, those are completely different departments. Someone who does skins, will never touch or even see the netcode.Sorry I wasn't aware you was a BHVR employee. they have completely ignored the entire post and just picked out one thing they wanted to talk about, Dead By Daylight has massive game mechanic issues right now and if these people can just put "lol" on a post instead of replying with a actual response then it says more about them to be quite honest. paying customers getting banned its a joke. looping the killer for days is a joke and camping and patrolling the hook is also another joke. this company has some serious issues that need solving not just with the game but internally aswell.

You're only supposed to disconnect when you have to. It's there for emergencies, like if you find a gamebreaking bug that makes it impossible for you to progress in the trial, or you need to drive someone to the hospital. Anyone who gets banned for disconnecting too often deserves it.3 -

It isn't there to be used because you don't like the ruleset of the match.

You are not banned for a single disconnect. You are only banned if you disconnect a certain (high) percentage of matches, and nobody has that many emergencies.
If your internet is so crappy that you're disconnecting more often than not, then you need to stop playing online games. That's on you; you chose to play a game you know you don't have the equipment for.

I didn't think it would be long for one of these responses, and It pleases me so greatly to bring to your attention that I'm not banned. I just thought I'd express my views on this recent banning update. It's called expressing opinions, and people have them, sorry!
I know this must be so triggering for you to realise that the world doesn't revolve around you, and your misguided, detached view and conception of reality. I'm guessing that's why you resorted to this petty little comment, right?

they aren't using it properly? ok so just take a step back you are contradicting yourself now, it clearly states that you are to be banned for quitting games as it comes under unsportsmanship so that means even if it is a emergency then you are to be banned for leaving the game. can I just say what about people that I don't know live in remote places of the world they have crappy internet but rely on what they get and they want to play dbd so should they be banned if they get disconnected because it happens to me, I live in a rather remote place and im not gonna lie the internet here is crap you get what your given in the highlands but I don't think I should be banned for things out of my control. ridiculous arrangement to my mind
My internet's not the greatest either, but if I know if my connection is not stable, I stop playing because at that point, having a bad connection that would normally just affect me, would also affect the gaming experience of 4 other people. Fortunately for me, the only time I lost connection was during the loading screen, so my absence didn't affect the match too much (they had 1 less gen to repair).

Punishing people for using the in-game feature wait for it, that the DEVELOPERS provided! Just think about that and how ridiculous it sounds.
Punishing people for misusing the in-game feature sounds fine to me.
Still I have not seen this answered, why add this feature in game if you're going to get banned for using it? Seems quite silly and idiotic! Also as I said and will repeat, why not fix the problems that cause people for DC'ing in the first place rather than banning people for what will most likely be a problem that that developers themself are responsible for!

That is called "personal responsibility", and it is a beautiful thing. Kudos.

Honestly, the things that make people DC are usually personal issues.Map, Killer Choice, Offerings, Being Downed First, Totem Destroyed.
This is the 3rd or 4th post I've seen being made trying to justify DCing and saying it's a problem with the game and instead blame it on things survivors do or things that killers do that "force" people to DC.
Why did the developers add the leave game feature? Please answer me that?
In case your house started burning down. Not for when you find your totem in a ######### spot or something lol.1 -

Oh dear, you've lived a very sheltered life that I actually feel sorry for you! Get out more mate!
I'm pretty good if I can simultaenously post two paragraphs at a time on alternative accounts. Anyway enjoy your little echo chamber, if you don't have anything constructive to put, or actually address in the slightest what I put with something with merit then I'm gonna go. It's a shame this happens, but that's the world we live in today. Full of entitled, precious milenials, sheltered and craddled, being told how special they are on a daily basis evidently really damages a person's ability to see beyond their own little world. Oh well! Get back to that anime guys I guess!.

It's probably not even possible, since it may be hardcoded.
Explain the amount of DCing that goes on with console because there is no such thing as lag switchers or hacking there and yet 9/10 games seem to have at least 1 person DC. Its due to lack of punishment that people DC and cannot be blamed on BHVR. People are responsible for their own actions don't try pointing that finger at anyone else and take responsibility for yourself if you DC.
Tsulan is right about switching server styles it isn't possible to just flip a switch and make it happen as it takes loads of money and time to set servers up and re-code game files to run on a new server setup. As I'm not on the programming team at BHVR I don't know how deeply that coding change would need to go to even switch the server type.

Forget it, if he blames everything on "millennials" he's usually the type of person to project his faults onto everyone else and ignore his own entitlement, unwillingness to take personal responsibility, etc.

It really angers me how quickly people are to get outraged and blame others theses past few years. The anonymity and freedom created by the internet makes people feel invisible and separated from what they project onto others. Half these people would crumble if these conversations had to take place face to face because they would actually have to be prepared to face consequences or at least be forced to think on what they want to say before saying it.

This thread is proof that posters with over 1k posts are just fart huffers. They are so far up their own asses they lose all sense of reality and think that everything they post is gospel.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's not a recent development. Scapegoats have been used for a very long time by both the ruling class and the ruled. It's simply human nature to avoid responsibility for your actions, because it implies that you're wrong.

People most of the time DC because they are pussies, and that can't be fixed by devs.

FIX the problems which cause people wanting to DC in the first place!I cannot accept someone like you exists. I guess you don’t exist then huh?

Every other online game out there has a ban punishment for abusing the d/c button, a bunch of people got well deserved bans today and that's all there is too it, if you did not do what you've known was wrong months ago then you got nothing to worry about, if you got banned for it then you deserved it.

Until ps plus noobs invaded and gave way to a whole new set of quiters, cheaters, and teamers who haven’t been sent to the salt mines yet. Guess I’ll have to wait a few weeks before they all are sent to matchmaking hell
