RIP Spirits Breathing
I was actually having a lot of fun with this. It was so useful to trick survivors into being where I wanted them to be, and it actually gave some much-needed information to make playing against her slightly more bearable. It was nice to pretend she was actually nerfed in between Slinger practice, and it was nice to hope that maybe the Devs were listening...
But then again, one of her loading screen tooltips is to do the stand-still "mindgame" where you outplay people by letting go of your controls and grabbing a drink.

Terrible bait, it absolutely made her weaker and everyone knows it.

@MadLordJack I 100% agree with you. I usually see a good Spirit and just go AFK. No point in even trying. Guessing while the other gets accurate info is just stupid but eh, at least Spirit gets easy games like killers want. Coming from a killer/survivor at Rank 1. I got proof too.

Give survivors visual cue is enough for getting rid of standing still mindgame. A directional sound kills the entire purpose of her power which is unpredictability
2 -
No surprise people want her nerfed. She's one of 2 killers that don't necessarily have to rely on survivors to do well.
The other is nurse.
4 -
it made her fun to vs
7 -
No it made her easy to evade
5 -
It also made her more interactive and fun to play against. They couldnt hear you the whole time, so you could mindgame. I thought she was really fun when they did that, and was only playing spirit, and really enjoyed going against her. Something doesn't need to be OP to be fun, and the people who played spirit during that "nerf" understood that. Clearly you don't.

Theres also freddy, ph, and slinger. And depending on the map, you 1000% depend on survivors making mistakes as nurse, since there are some places you can't blink, like a quarter of midwich

No, actually, I found it quite useful to trick people into thinking they were outplaying me. What I wouod do is phase to one corner of a loop, then backtrack after I was certain the survivors had heard her breathing. Maybe not as effective as full-on soundsnipey Stridor Spirit with mega headphones and specially tuned sound settings, but a lot more consistent that trying to use grass movement.
1 -
Except she's both unpredictable and insanely quick. Good Spirits didn't even have trouble with her breathing, because good spirits don't sit in phase for long enough for it to be a problem. Plus, all her breathing told you was her directionality, which the Spirit could either bulldoze through with her speed before the survivor could react, or do what I started doing and trick survivors into taking a hit.

I once mindgamed people by standing still and not doing anything. The lifeguard was not as impressed.
2 -
I'm actually glad that the bug went away because it made Spirit way too damn brain dead to evade and counter!
I just don't see how you guys find being spoon feed counterplay "fun" or "interactive". Almost like playing a FPS game and having wall hacks to see where enemies are and what guns they have!
3 -
So today I learned hearing a small audio cue every 2 seconds for an invisible phase-walking serial killer in an asymmetrical multiplayer game where one side can never damage or hurt the other side is literally almost the same as using wallhacks in Call of Duty.
2 -
It’s not spoon fed unless the survivor is good and actually uses the information which the bug gave them they would still go down just as fast.

You're right but those are bugs etc. Without the bugs, the nurse player is dependent on their skill alone and can decimate a team.
The crazy thing is, at high play... A perfect killer vs 4 perfect survivors 99.9% of the time results in a LOSS for the killer. That's been proven several times over.

I main Nurse. I know how she works. And a "perfect" nurse player vs four "perfect" survivors would most likely be a 2k or 3k.
1 -
And honestly I highly doubt that they are bugs. The devs just want us to think that.
0 -
And the survivor doesn't get to show off their goodness if the spirit just phases properly anyway. Knowing which direction the sword is coming from half a second before it connects isn't as useful as people seem to think
1 -
Yea I mean people seem to forget at the end of the day she has speed pushing the levels of Oni but without limited control and turning regardless of whether the survivors can tell where she is or not.
0 -
least they could do is fix the bug so we can hear her footsteps again it's only been in the game the oni release

What does this even mean? "Aw man all these killers so weak have to rely on survivors existing in order to kill all the survivors hurdy durr"
Are killers supposed to instead have guaranteed victory before the survivors even load into the trial?

Unlike nurse, spirit is extremely frustanting to go against. And you're quite mistaken on why, nurse has counterplay and a survivor can feel their actions are meaningful. If a nurse blinks to the wrong direction, the survivor can get distance/hide from LOS. A good spirit will just stop phasing as soon she loses track of the survivor, making any kind of crouching/turning/backing/hiding meaningless. There is no commitment in phase walking bc it can be interrupted at will. The Devs should either make it last the whole duration once started or keep the sound clues.

I think it's mostly just people wanting to be completely in control of the chase. Every single killer in the game can be beaten by splitting up and slamming the hell out of the gens, so it's not exactly accurate to say that Nurse and Spirit don't rely on survivors mistakes. But, those teams are so rare that the justification itself is even flimsier, because it's also rare to play a team that a godlike Clown or Myers couldn't beat.

I'm hoping they give her something more... Visual when she's phasing. I never played against a spirit during this bug, which is... Rare, but I feel like it would've been a little too easy. But like I said, never played against one, so I can't say. Part of me is glad they fixed the bug, because I think all bugs are important to fix even if they arguably make the killer more balanced, but at the same time, like... Guess it's back to those "totally awesome and insanely skillful mindgames"

Shouldn't have even been a thing.
Listen for footsteps. They are already quite audible.
0 -
Nope, they are absolutely not in the significant majority of ground textures. Swamp maps and The Game are the only maps where they are reasonable audible, and even then they get (intentionally) drowned out by TR and chase music, same a survivor footsteps.

It was too easy to beat Spirit with the sound.
0 -
Yeah, that's why I never lost a trial...
