Do people not read perk descriptions?

Several games now I've been accused of cheating for running soul guard. Is no one aware of the fact that you can get up by yourself if there's an active hex totem?

Bonus question: what are the chances of me getting banned for false reports of cheating? I'm almost afraid of running soul guard at this point...

You won’t get banned. Don’t worry. They’d need to supply video evidence in support of their report. Which means the devs would see you’re not cheating.

I get accused of the same thing often whenever I run Dark Devotion. So no, many players don’t read perk descriptions.

You'd be surprised at how many high rank players still don't understand certain perks. I've been accused of this stuff myself. Red ranks accusing me of wallhacking when I was using Bitter Murmer. Or when my TR was hidden thanks to me using Billy's add-on I somehow cheated to make the chainsaw silent. And I wouldn't worry about false bans. There's no evidence against you for cheating

A lot of people don’t really understand perks. I had a red rank team mate pull me off the hook in front of a cloaked Wraith and then complain about BT not working post-game, I had to explain how the perk works.

I wouldn’t worry about getting reported, you should be fine.

Heck, there are people who don't even understand how scratch marks work. Like maybe sprinting to the corner of the map and crouching behind a rock when I'm basically already there isn't a good idea (and I'm not even talking about brown/yellow ranks, I'm talking about people who should already be well aware of such a basic game mechanic. Although I guess if they never play killer they might not realize how easy scratch marks are to see but still)

I nearly always get accused of cheating when using Fast Wraith (His two add ons that increase speed while cloaked + Play with your Food)

Even when it's displayed right in the end screen some people can't be bothered to read.

I got accused for wall hacking when playing as Legion because I found a Blendie hiding in the locker while Killer Instinct was active.

Also people don't realize if they want to counter bbq they need to hide in the locker before I hook a Survivor, not after, because I can see you going inside the locker...

I still get accused for cheating as Wraith with his add-ons to make the bell have no directional sound, and hide my TR for 6 seconds after uncloaking. According to the master survivors who lectured me on it, Wraith can't hide his TR when uncloaking despite there being a clear brown add-on that states the very obvious effect. But hey, I guess we're cheating Wraiths! 😂

Some people indeed do not check before accusing.

    That's just how it is.

Reading for some people is apparently hard, lol.

My favorite example has been playing against a killer (and not someone trying for Adept Pig, or even running Pig) who's running Make Your Choice -- then watch them essentially proxy-camp their hooks the whole game, keeping their perk from ever activating. Or getting tunneled from the beginning while being the Obsession, then finding out afterwards that the killer was running STBFL (and again, on a killer not even playing Myers, so it's an case of getting the perk as a teachable to run on a different killer). Times like that are half infuriating/half hilarious (more the latter, since those killers usually end up not doing well, but the former, where I want to message the person and ask them "Do you even know what you're running?").

I had someone accuse me of cheating because my M1 attack had no cooldown while carrying someone. I told them to read the perk "Mad Grit," and they assured me that they already knew what it did and continued to accuse me of cheating. :P

And no, they absolutely will not ban you for this. They don't ban without video evidence, and any video evidence they could provide for that would either be insufficient to warrant a ban or obviously prove your innocence.

I haven't really seen it used that much. I think a lot of people are still getting used to its existence. I've had it used on me twice as killer and I'll admit it confused the hell out of me.

I got accused of cheating for a Flip-Flop escape pretty recently. I think just like Soul Guard its relative rareness means that when a killer gets duped by it they're just confused. I've only ever been Flip-Flopped once and to be honest I had to give the player props for even running it over unbreakable or DS.
