I don't think you should de-pip/pip if the survivors/killers are not in you rank.

This is just my opinion but I don't think that if you go against survivors or killers that are rank 1 and you're rank 13 you shouldn't de-pip if you get absolutely stomped. Same if you are the stompers, you shouldn't be rewarded for beating someone with less skill than you. I feel like the only time this would be okay is if the stompers is the lower rank and the person being stomped is a higher rank than you. Like if you're rank 8 and you pip on a game of three kills who are all rank 3 or survive with 0 downs while green rank and the killer is red rank.

The matchmaking is the worst and it hates you. People will say ranks don't matter (but anyone that is newer/been around for a couple months can tell the difference between a Red rank player and green player very clearly in game) There are a lot of annoying scenarios, where I wish you would not lose a pip, but I doubt it will happen. Leveling/deleveling don't really matter other then ego/morale reasons (which is a valid reason). the company doesn't really care about bad matchmaking or if it upsets people or not.

I've been hoovering around Rank 2, and i'm having less fun as its my first time this high. I care more about ranking up now then normal as I want to hit 1, for the achievement, but I know it doesn't matter, but it still bugs me when I get hard tunneled and get deranked.

The current rank system is being replaced eventually by the new MMR system that’s been testing in the background for a while. With MMR your rating goes up much more when you win against higher rated opponents than lower rated ones, and likewise it goes down much more when lower rated opponents beat you versus higher rated opponents beating you.

Yes. In Tekken, the pipping works like this: If the opponent has the same rank, you get +2/-2. If he is one rank above/under your rank, you get +1/-1. If he is two ranks above/under your rank, you get +0,5/-0,5 and so on... i don't know the exact numbers any more but something like this. A system like this would greatly benefit DbD.

Honestly, if it's a good player I can tell, and they'll be rank 1/2, but so often, with killers and survivors, I see questionable things that make me think they're rank 20, to find out they're somehow rank 4.

Yes, there is still a difference between red ranks and below, but a large portion of the people in red rank aren't of the same skill level as the rest.

It would actually help to even out the ranking a bit more, since right now, people who shouldn't be in the top ranks are. Of course, a better fix would be to simply revert the change to rank reset from earlier this year. Both together would be awesome, too.

it wouldnt rank does not and has not ever represented skill, it merely means you do the objectives the game wants you to do, but they are in no way a indication of skill, just that you follow a check list.

and apart from that, like OP said, everyone is ranked with everything anyway, the match making is broken.

rank, does, not, matter, there is nothing to gain or lose from ranking or deranking.

Rank doesn't represent skill linearly, no, but it does actually have some correlation, since it corresponds to time played, and in this game time played really is very important in order to become a skillful player because there is just so much nuance to each individual match.

Issue is, most players in red ranks shouldn't be, so as a result, there are less players in purple/green, etc, meaning matchmaking for lower rank players takes longer, and they usually end up against red rank players for this reason. But the fact is, that a lot of these red rank players probably should be at the same rank as the other side anyway. Reverting rank reset and making pip gain more dynamic in line with ranks of players involved actually would go a long way to making matchmaking more balanced, as a result. And it would make the higher ranks less about gameplay time and more about holding their own against someone of a similar rank.

Yeah but it makes me sad when I think I do well yet I disappointed someone. Someone being the entity of course. And why are you being so mean?
