How impactful is brutal strength?

I feel like 20% faster pallet breaking is not that great, or at least not that strong. Should it get buffed?

Yes, but will it though? There are better, more impactful perks. I think that even PWYF is better to close the distance on survivors.

It's okay. Sometimes it make survivor not being able to reach next loop without getting hit, but today more and more palletes are unsafe so you hit survivor and move to next loop.

It's actually quite good. Any pallet eater build should use it.

Each chase perk offers a unique benefit. Each will potentially give you a hit where the others wouldn’t have.

Whenever I use Brutal Strength I feel it and I remember a few times where I was just close enough to get a hit in before they reached a pallet or window. It helps and it’s pretty consistent too.

I'd agree with that! It's of course not meta or anything, but it's plenty usable :)

Alright I see what you mean. I will probably only use this on doctor, clown, and wraith since I think they would get the most value out of it.

I think they could buff it very slightly and it would still be fine. Like down to a 2 second break. But it’s not in a bad place, it’s not meta but it has its place in certain builds.

The rule of thumb is standoff killers use brutal, like doc, Myers, huntress, and the killer's who don't benefit from respecting pallets use enduring. Of course, that rule of thumb dates back to before enduring and brutal.got nerfed and natural break speed got buffed. Not sure how well it holds up today, as neither gets used as often in favor of Gen perks.

I think people think it's better than it is. Yeah you can save a tiny bit of time catching back up to them, but in most cases unless they position really badly you shouldn't be continuing after them anyway. Hit or pallet, break chase, hit or pallet, break chase. That's how you map pressure. Continual chasing loses games.

Most the "chase" perks including Brutal Strength are vastly overrated in my opinion.

If you're really just trying to save time in general you'd end up saving more time just running slow down perks.

Now if Brutal Strength gen kicks caused the gen to regress faster as well, now we might be talking. Currently just doesn't do enough to be worth a slot to me.

It's a pretty good chase perk but most chase perks are pretty bad in this game imo.

Which is a shame cause I would much rather want to equip a perk that changes chases dynamically rather then a perk that makes survivors hold m1 longer

A lot of it is down to playstyle...I eat pallets for breakfast so pretty much always run Enduring & Brutal Strength. Plus I got addicted to the speed - and find it really hard to play without it now.

Man that's such a good thing you did there by calculating the exact timings and distances I was really looking for some statistical analysis on this, Thank you very much!

I think it's very beneficial on killers which can't instantly break them so you burn the pallets asap and they don't have any left.

Yes. Brutal strength should be buffed.

Brutal Strength is nice on Killers who force early Pallet Drops. E.g. Clown or Doctor, Survivors tend to drop Pallets early, so Brutal Strength can help with that.

On other M1-Killers Enduring might be a better choice, since the time saved is bigger than Brutal Strength (and you can go for more Swings into Pallets).

I've been using it a lot more lately on my Mikey. Paired with bamboozle its very nice for cutting chases short, especially in tier 3.

I think it feels nice on Twins, personally. But I'm a trash twins because I try to use 2 twins against 1 survivor

It just needs to be slightly buffed. Up to 25% seems reasonable.

A buff to 25-30% is warranted IMO. Not a bad perk by any means but there are so many better ones it can be hard to justify taking it

You may not notice it now, but that increase is fast enough to get a free hit before survivors have time to reach the next loop/tile. I run it on a lot of my Killers.

I find it being very impactful on specific killers such as Clown.

The number of times I was hit by the bottle before he kicked the pallet with BS... yeah there was no way I was making it to the next loop.

i think the perk is fair as is. A key selling point here but say you hook a survivor and find one survivor on a mostly repaired gen (let's say 60%) and you have to decide "do i kick it and risk the survivor hiding or making tons of distance or do I chase them and hope that when I down them and come back noone else works on it by then?" Well brutal strength can let you have your cake and eating to. It also synergizes well with pop goes the weasel which as we all know is a VERY strong perk.

    It is definitely impactful.

For some reason i never end up using it though. I prefer many other perks.

I should start playing with it...

Brutal Strength is one of those perks where it is solid, it will get you value (outside of special cases like Nurse), but nothing it does is going to single handedly win you the game. It's effects aren't big enough or condensed enough for that. But it will save you a decent amount of time over the course of a game.

Another upside to it is that it can make other perks that want you to kick gens more viable. Packing Brutal if you're going to pair Eruption and Call of Brine together just makes sense. Or go with an interesting combo of Oppression and Trail of Torment... again Brutal Strength can make using those perks more valuable.

Increase pallet kicking speed can be abit too strong. But definitely need to buff Gen kicking speed to at least 50%.

  • jesterkind
    jesterkind Member Posts: 7,843

I think people overlook the other two effects it has. It still isn't amazing, but less time kicking generators and less time breaking walls combined with less time kicking pallets makes it a pretty decent timesaver overall.

I'd still like to see all of those numbers buffed, though. Maybe just by another 10% or so.

  • Lawlichan
    Lawlichan Member Posts: 114

maybe increase it to like a 25% so that it removes a tiny bit more time off of it? I just don't see why you would use it over enduring, which saves you a full second

  • Zozzy

It use to be faster until they nerfed it while giving base kit slightly faster kick speed. They made sure to make it slower for some weird reason.

I’d rather see fire up buffed than brutal strength. The numbers on bs arent huge but at least it’s consistent from start of game, where as fire up only gets decent when u’ve lost the gens.

Its decent on clown and oni because people predrop a lot vs them

  • dugman
    dugman Member Posts: 9,713

Yeah Fire Up is pretty bad, it does almost nothing until 3-5 gens are already gone.
