Always throw where you think they will be in 3 seconds from where they are. It seems like a no brainer, but if you take the time to think about it while playing, you'll do a lot better. Same goes for Death Slinger.

What's your perk build? And tell me what you do in a loop? And specify which.

The best guide to day is ScottJund's:
Umba for the most spectacular use of hatchets:
As for the perks, two most common ones are bbq and corrupted. Other viable options: shadowborn (has both pros and cons), whispers, nurses, pop, ruin/undying, bitter murmur.

Thanks everyone got caught up running through the guide in 2nd message and relaying all this info to my friend. I am also going to steal some if these ideas myself for my P3 huntress always room for improvement.

Regardless which helpful tutorials your friend watches, it all boils down to a lot, and I mean A LOT of practice. Huntress and Deathslinger require the most amount of practice next to the Nurse simply because neither one has a reticule. Imagine trying to play any first person shooter without a reticule. It's hard! It's not impossible, but if you're playing on PC you'll have a far easier time aiming with a mouse than you will a joystick.

Throw. Hatchet.

I can recommend you CoconutRTS. I think he is by far the best huntress main in the game right now. He has guides on his channel, he talks about the usage of crosshair (which most huntress mains have used or still use) and he has a lot of high skill gameplays.
His build is rather on the aggressive side and won't do much if you are a beginner though.
My favorite build on Huntress is Corrupt, Nurse's, BBQ and the last perk always changes. Sometimes I take Pop, sometimes Whispers, sometimes Iron Maiden. I'm all ears is also very good on huntress (helps you with your window shots).
You should focus on gen slowdown in the start. If you are not a master of your hatchets the games will be very short so you need time to learn chasing with her. She is very slow and missing will punish you a lot.
Huntress has a very long learning curve, probably even longer than Nurse because there is more to master on Huntress when it comes to long range shots, trick shots, thread the needle shots and so on. It is worth it though. It will take time but she is in my opinion the most satisfying killer in the game. And she can be extremely scary if played well.

That's why I specified it to solely the use of hatchets rather than overall gameplay.
There are probably several extremely niche streamers with 15 viewers who are better in this aspect as well, but I disregarded them.

Whispers, Devour Hope/A Nurse's Calling, STBFL, Agitation/Stridor.
Add the two wind-up add-ons, and you can feel free to chuck hatchets willy-nilly after going in for an M1, when most survivors then decide to get themselves locked in an animation and aren't expecting a quick M2.
Whispers is simply a wonderful perk for all kinds of tracking needs, Devour Hope can halt the game in its tracks without the need for any kind of slowdown perk, A Nurse's Calling is great for finding the easiest targets, STBFL is wonderful for surprises, Agitation allows you to pressure gens that are about to be popped even while carrying a survivor or allows you to get survivors into much more advantageous hooking positions, and Stridor is to deal with pesky Iron Will users if you find yourself not wanting to deal with that survivor perk for a little while.
Note: To utilize this properly, you have to be good at capitalizing on poor survivor saves and capitalizing on your slugging capabilities. You do not have to be an expert in chases, but you have to have good game awareness.

Congratulations on writing it before, I guess.
I've randomly come across his stream previously and he's not a very good huntress player from mechanical pov (he misses quite a bit of generic shots).
His strategic approach to how a huntress match should be going is rather efficient, on the other hand. I don't like the way he plays personally, but it's still optimal if playing ftw.

I personally use Ruin, Undying, BBQ, Iron Maiden.
If you want a consistent Build because you don't like Hex Perks.
- Corrupt Intervention
- Whispers
- BBQ
- A Nurses Calling/Bitter Murmur
Best things to use on Huntress are Slowdown and Tracking Perks though I wouldn't recommend Pop since she is extremely slow and doesn't get the best value out of it, neither Surge since it has it's basic attack requirement and you wanna hit hatchets instead of M1.
For playing, I will just say what probably anyone will say. Play her a lot and you'll get the feel of how her hatchets work and your aim will also improve. Understand what you can hit and what will probably eat your Hatchet cuz of the huge Hitbox. There isn't really something you can learn by knowing it, you just need to practice those shots. So basically "just hit your hatchets and aim better".
You could watch some streamers but they'll say the same, that you need to play her a lot in order to get good with her. You will lose at the start, but that's the learning process.

Might be.

The biggest tip is Iron Maiden.
