New Item & feature idea (voice proximity)

voice Proximity

It would be activated by holding a key, and it can be heared by survivors in a 6m radius.

While on a hook or in a locker, you can't acivate voice proximity.

(option to mute players in the esc menu while in-game)

New Item: Radio

Rarity: Rare & Very Rare

Durability: Depends on the items' rarity.

Distance: Rare (30m) - Very Rare (60m)

Addons: Better batteries, increased signal, etc.

Usage: Hold a key (different to VP) to speak and be heard by everyone using another radio.

Extra: having a radio increases your VP range, this is to make sure its still useful even if no one else has it.

Besides, talking over the radio has a "static" sound effect, it's clearer to speak through VP. (If Phasmophobia could do it, Im sure BHVR can too).

The Killer

The killers, instead of hearing exactly what's being said on voice proximity and/or radio, would hear a mumbling sound effect whenever they're near a talking survivor. Such SFX could increase the closer the killer is.

Some perks can affect the radio, for example, unnerving presence could make anyone inside the terror radius to be unable to speak through the radio (or talk but the other survivors can only hear static noise)

During chases, the survivors shouldn't be able to use the radio.

FINISHING

I don't expect this gets added, it's just a fun thought. But I also believe it could be tweaked in such a way it isn't OP and balance the game around it.

I think voice proximity would be incredible for the game, and I would be for the killer and survivor talking to each other as well. Imagine being looped by this Nea and hearing "So, how's your day been man?" I would love this.

People who wish to use voice chat would more likely than not just use currently existing methods.

Of course, but at least with this it could be balanced over it

I wish for something like it, but not quite that. If there was an option to pop up a slider wheel for voice phrases, such as "help!" or "this way" or "shh" I think that would be ideal. I do really like the idea of a radio, though!

Further elaboration on my idea of voice phrases, if the devs could get the voice actors for each character to come back and create some lines, I think it could greatly increase the vibe to dead by daylight. Imagine hearing a Felix across the field from you yelling "help" in a panicked tone, or hearing it on a radio. Radios could possibly reveal the location of incoming signals with addons maybe?

I mean a majority of non licensed characters/voice actors are part of the development team at Behaviour, so i'm pretty sure it wouldn't be that hard.

it boggles my mind how people want arguably the worst thing in F13 to come over to DBD. Proximity chat. Is. Awful.

Just in case people have candycanes and gumdrops in their minds at the concept, here's a good example of how it would look (sound?) in dbd:

I just love to be doing a gen, and hearing the screams of my teammates slowly getting louder and louder and he runs into me

And omg imagine me healing a slug on the ground near an exit gate and i could be telling him in his face DONT HOLD SHIFT he has to hit me before he can pick you up. THen bam ez\

But in all seriousness i think the best option would be adding pings to DBD like oh the killer is here or do this totem so that we can actually close the gap between SWF and solo.

Proxy chat would just be a funny meme gamemode or something but dbd doesnt have gamemodes for some reason.
