Bloodlust needs to be changed.
Well.. according to the devs and what the devs call the "statistics" people get downed mostly on BL1
but can we really trust the statistics they talking about? according also to the devs and their statistics OoO is a very balanced perk what is also not frustrating at all, and the survivors dont survive.
im not saying remove bloodlust completely but i have a few ideas to make it more rewarding/punshing.
the first idea is the classic one "Remove it" well that is an idea, but if you remove it you also need to remove safe pallets like in fractured cowshed "the long loops next to the killer shack"
or you keep it in the game and bring a punishment for it.
right now as long the killer isnt hitting you, losing chase or breaking the pallet will not lose bloodlust.
and even when a survivor does a very good play like baiting and the killer miss the hit he wont use the bloodlust.
so either you remove it, and keep the 90% unsafe pallets in the game, or you keep it remove the dead ends and the amount of unsafe pallets.
i really dont trust the statistic of the devs because i get mostly downed in BL 2-3
dont get me wrong i also use bloodlust here and there because the game literally tells me dont break the pallet and keep chasing. but BL needs to get a rework regardless.
its just a no brainer.

Bloodlust should quite simply get removed.

The only thing that I can think about removing it is that if they were to remove it "holding W tech" would become stronger making survivors just run from one side of the map to another.
I do agree a lot that it needs to be changed since more maps are getting reworked and are getting unsafe.

Bloodlust is necessary for strong loops. Also it helps newer killers catch good survivors which this game needs as survivor lobbies take to long at night! 😬

As another person has pointed out, the SHift+W technique still exists for survivor.
Bloodlust gives a killer some counterplay against normally unmindgameable loops, but there is no counter to a survivor just holding the W key.

If the killer is actually bloodlusting survivors for a hit he's losing the game anyway because the time you spend getting bloodlust before your hit means you're wasting way more time than you should be if you expect to win. This is why it doesn't need any changes.
IE if you bloodlust a survivor you've lost the game anyway. If you're bloodlusting people and still winning then the survivors are just playing badly.

The punishment for getting to bloodlust 3 is staying in a prolonged chase that will cost you gens.
In the current time crunch meta bloodlust is definitely needed. Not to mention the whole safe pallet thing you brought up.
Until the game is slowed down, and loops made less safe, it should remain in the game.

At the very least the killer wastes 30+ or 45+ seconds without using their power to get you, which is still a lot of time that you gave your team to do gens, imo.
But of course, bloodlust needs to be removed,i agree. But we have to balance every map and their loops first before we can do that.

is bloodust disabled upon a successful hit? if it is not, I reckon that's the balanced solution

It is disabled on hit.

It is, yes. You lose all bloodlust when breaking a pallet, losing chase, or landing a hit.

then it is fine with me right now

i think that fact that 2-3 gens can be done around the time a single survivor is hooked depending on map RGN needs to be addressed first.
most m1 killer matches at rank 1 usually go like this if the survivors play efficiently
- 20 seconds to find a survivor
- 25-40 seconds to down a survivor if you are lucky
- 10 seconds to hook a survivor
- 15-20 seconds to reach the other side of the map and maybe stop 1 gen at 90%
- 2 gens power on
- 25-40 seconds chasing survivor 2
- gen 3 powers on and another is now at 50%
- 10 seconds to hook survivor 2
- 15-20 seconds to reach the side of the map you spawned on
- gen 4 powers on
- now depending on if the survivors 3 gend themselfs or not gen 5 will be done in 40-60 seconds
- 60-120 seconds trying to secure a kill
- the match lasts around 3m 40 seconds to 5m 20 seconds
now imagine this but without bloodlust, survivors would be able to loop pallets 4-5 times instead of 2-3. making chases last around 45-60 seconds.
all this of course can be circumvented by playing a none m1 killer or a high mobility killer

Bloodlust gets disabled/reset after/when:
- getting a successful hit
- breaking a pallet
- using killer powers that count as an attack
- the chase mechanic stops due to high distance to the survivor or no line of sight for around 7 seconds (i.e. at point blank distance through walls)

the devs are already planning to remove bloodlust once the maps are all reworked, also OoO is balanced when used by solo, i would go as far as to say its a pretty bad perk, because it can screw over your teammates. The problem is the SWF that abuse it with voice communication, something that the game is not balanced with that in mind.

Bloodlust should - if anything - have a larger increase on speed at level 1. It takes VERY long to even get to level 1 and the current difference is tiny. And when's the last time anyone actually went to Bloodlust 3 in a match? By the time you'd get there, the survivors would be half-way to the campfire.
Only Bloodlust 1 seems to get use if any, because a chase that long is on the borderline of switching target.

bloodlust should not get removed after breaking pallets. This would be a nice buff that isnt broken.
Also, instead of losing it immediately after losing chase, it should stay active for 8 seconds to give the killer a chance to catch up to the survivor who made distance with a chance of continuing tiering up
