Devs please think about implementing a communication systems. It would help solo a lot.
They should definitely be looking into making a communication for solo. To give the survivors the ability to talk would massively help elevate the ambiguity and confusion between survivors. And this is very possible because each survivor would have different voice actors already. And it won't always be a benefit to survivors there could be a range in which the killer can hear them communicating.
Do you all agree as well? Is this a good idea?
P.s I don't mean in game proximity chat I mean a chat wheel in which the survivors themselves (NOT THE PERSON PLAYING THE SURVIVOR) speaks to other survivors.

Nope. That's a hard no from me. People get so... "passionate" shall we say, in this game it would foster so much trash talk and toxicity and rude criticism. It would be a large majority awful as your teammates tell you that you're trash for getting caught or not being on a gen or doing a bad hook save or whatever. Especially given the matchmaking often putting rank 18-20 with red ranks, I think the negatives would extremely weigh out the positives.
I would turn it off, or if you couldn't turn it off, I would literally stop playing solo queue. People act like garbage behind the anonymity of the internet, ESPECIALLY when it comes to competitive games. And even moreso in team-based games.
This is assuming you mean voice chat etc. If there were a couple more useful/objective-related emotes that might be cool.

Thank You for bringing this to my attention. I wasn't taking about a ingame voice chat. Have you ever played white noise 2. I ment a communication systems like that.
2 -
I feel like the pointing and come here animations are enough. What would be great would be 3rd animation, a sound notification that lets the survivor know you want their attention. Then follow up with come here or point
1 -
Like pings? Like from apex.
This gen is #%, or im being chased. and all you do is middle click it
1 -
I don't know what that is. I don't play apex. I mean like something in white noise 2 if you have played it.
1 -
I mean more emotes than point/wave over would be nice
pings like others said would work too
personally I want to dance at survivors when Im waiting at the gates
killer emotes too like.... baton flip style toss the weapon and catch it for swag yknow something fun and stupid
1 -
I disagree. Those are not enough as it leaves so much up to interpretation. Take pointing for example. When I point at something what are you going to assume from it? considering I'm not really close to what I'm pointing to you could assume I mean to do the generator or go save them, or go to the door or go to hatch, if your teammates makes the wrong decision I could potentially lose you the game and mess up everything. Pointing is just not enough.

Point to what you want.
Want them to go save, point at the hooked survivor, if a gen or anything else is on the way then come here and then walk away and point. Want to show the hatch? Come here, take to the hatch, then point. I dont think its hard to interpret these, i guess a wheel of pre-made messages could solve that or make it less of a hassle, but i feel like pointing and come here are almost enough, a sound notification would help when chasing a panicking injured survivor. Some people will not listen, so i dont think they'll listen to a pre-made message.
Cant be pinging/waypoints because theres a map addon for that

Yes they should add communication for solo players, and by that I don't mean a chat. Something like prewritten messages is good like "The killer is near me" or "Heal me please" stuff like that would be helpful and I know it's possible because Identity V has something like that and I believe Deathgarden Blood Harvest had something similar too.
2 -
Yeah I like that I don't have any way to listen to my toxic teammates. It's bad enough they are willing to send me a message after the game to let me know I didn't do what they wanted or that they told the killer where I was after they died.

-Communication would just add a way to be verbally toxic and nasty.
-Giving comms to survivor's is a hard buff and would mean the Killer role becomes even more miserable to play as efficiency among survivor's is even easier to achieve and no longer requires aura perks, etc.
Hard no for me.

"P.s I don't mean in game voice chat"
There is literally have game lobby chat for that.
Not only that, but survivors are supposed to have ZERO communication at all. The fact that people are able to circumvent that is the anomaly, not the norm.

Did you read what I wrote at all? I am not talking about in game voice chat. Of course that would be terrible to killers. I'm talking about a communication wheel in which the survivors THEMSELVES communicated small short sentences in order to work together better. This is not a big buff to survivors because doing so could also revel your position to the killer.
Please actually READ what I post before you commit thank you.
1 -
That is for after the match not during it.
0 -
or before it, when you have 60+ seconds to adjust your loadout while the killer can't even change what killer they've picked.
0 -
No I'm illiterate.
But to reiterate, I don't want any way to listen to my toxic teammates. It's not necessary and I don't want to hear them either spamming lines from their voice actors or any in-game communications. I was actually talking to a friend who doesn't play DBD. He doesn't like a lot of multiplayer games because of how toxic people can be. I told him DBD didn't have any communication between teammates in game, and it was one of the things I liked about it.
Was that more helpful?

This is not what im talking about. Please read what I wrote before you commit.

Well if a person is spamming lines then obviously you are not doing something that would be the most beneficial to the team. The purpose of this isn’t to spam lies its to make communication better. Just because some people can abuse it in a bad way doesn't mean overall its not beneficial. And if that doesn't satisfy you then it can be on a 5 or 10 second cooldown before you say a line.
Is this helpful?

Let's be real, some communication is needed especially with all the reworks and buffs that killers keep getting with every patch.
You think that a group of solos can compete against a full meta killer with broken add ons etc..? Hell no.
And don't give me the "but survivor are not supposed to be able to communicate" argument because if that were still the case the devs wouldn't put out a survey about adding a way for solo survivors to communicate in the game.
Having simple phrases would really help solo survivors have some way to communicate with others and make their experience better.

You want proximity chat, which is awful and has been discussed to death for years on this forum, especially considering its something a competing game did and provided great evidence to why it would be an awful fit in DBD.
I was trying to give you the reasonable accomidation that you already have the ability to coordinate to a degree during the prep time that you have before a match, since survivors are NOT locked into their builds (or even characters) until the last few seconds of the countdown.
There have been countless discussions about why things like proximity chat are awful for the game. Even SWF being able to communicate messes with the balance in a way that, years later, the devs refuse to acknowledge is as bad as it is. They think OoO isn't broken because "the person with it usually dies."
Also, in case you want a mockup of how badly proximity chat can go, I never mind posting zimbabwe bubba:

READ MY POST. I CANNOT for the life of me tell if you're doing this purpose. I NEVER SAID I WANT PROXIMITY CHAT. I know how terrible proximity chat would be for the game, this is not what im arguing however.

"To give the survivors the ability to talk would massively help elevate the ambiguity and confusion between survivors. And this is very possible because each survivor would have different voice actors already. And it won't always be a benefit to survivors there could be a range in which thr killer can hear them communicating."
Unless you are talking about some kind of text to speech system or a voice command subwheel, you're describing proximity chat. And if you Do mean the former, again, you want to be able to convey information in a game that was designed around not being able to convey information. Half the design of solo queue survivor was supposed to be around whether to be altruistic or work on saving your own ass, that survivors were a shaky alliance against a common foe rather than some kind of best friends squad. Even balance aside, have you even played vs in games like L4D? survivors spamming voice commands was more common than zombies slain.
Also imagine yelling that people don't read your posts when you don't use the search feature to see the thousands of similar topics already created on the subject

Imagine not reading what a person is saying fully and pulling things out of thin air.
There was literally nothing in what I wrote earlier in order to indicate that I wanted proximity chat. To further prove this I said "And this is very possible because each survivor would have different voice actors" what part of this makes it seem like I want the players themselves talking?
0 -
First off, not everyone is like that. I have met some nice randoms off of solo queue.
Second, as long as it is something you can turn off, I don’t see how this affects your gameplay. Regardless of how you feel about it.

They should add voice chat in lobbies with the ability to mute... and a radio (like on Friday 13th) that you’ll need to be able to communicate in game.
In addition to this, survivors should be able to hover over the survivors in the lobby and see what perks they bring, items etc.
Oh yeah, cuz I’m sure people are going to miss this one. Make a button that makes all of this optional, so people don’t get bent out of shape and “ruin” their experience.
1 -
No, no and just no. Things like that are one of those reasons why games like F13 died.
0 -
Why no?
0 -
IDK why this devs haven't just created an item, just like med-kits or toolboxes to communicate with other survivors, a radio, if u have it u can communicate with another one that posses it, otherwise u can't. It would be balanced and not utterly broken, since u have to gave up on bringing a med-kit or a tool box in order to use it.

I'm on xbox gimme that salty post game chat babey I crave it!!!!!!!

He's talking about a ping system where you can use the pre-determined lines. Like in Apex, you can ping "Flatline here", "Body shield here, level one", "Shooting!", "I'm being shoot!". In Dead by Daylight, we could have some lines like "generator here", "something here", "Killer is with me", "I'm being chased", "med-kit here", "key here", "hatch here".
I approve this idea, we need better ways to communicate.
Can I be honest here? The way the game is going, I doubt they will implement something like this. The team behind DBD looks like a total mess recently.
0 -
I dont think we should have a ping service. I don't really see the point as a system like that. I just mean we should have a sort of chat wheel where the characters literally talk. For example saying "help me with the generator" or "can you heal me?"
Thank you for explaining the ping system though. And honestly I don't really have hope they will implement it in the near future. All I could do is hope.

Lol what?
Reason it died was because no new content was released, post lawsuit. Content is what keeps the community growing, because even without that some of us were still playing here and there.
It’s not like the option being there affects YOU. You can turn it off.

I think an in-game quick chat that worked in a certain raidous would be really cool.
There could be so many mind games. You could evsdrop if you were the killer.
You could use red-herrings if you're the survivors to mislead the killer. Like in the pre-game chat set the code "Hey guys, 'lets heal here' means split up, and 'lets split up' means 'I'm going for the hook rescue'
Oh it would be rad!
