Killers Tunnel Without Bloodlust?

So I've played 2 games since Bloodlust was removed.

Both games the killers tunneled harder than I have ever seen.

What are your experiences?

Should I expect more of this the rest of the weekend?

First time I have run DS in months. :/

Define "tunneling". Do you mean you're being chased for prolonged periods of time?

Same, my buddy got tunneled through a borrowed time. I feel like they're playing it safe because they relied on bloodlust more than they'd like to admit. I also want to say it's taking a few minutes longer than normal to get games. I wonder how many killers decided to go survivor for the weekend

Its not overly surprising because of how many infinites the removal of blood lust has caused.

Tunneling can literally be the only way they win because of infinites so your experiencing how DbD used to be in the dark ages were killers were forced to tunnel and camp every game or go all out with offerings/add-ons to stand a chance.

Sometimes you just get tunneled, it can happen more times in a row, I got tunneled 3 times in a row even before the bloodlust announcement was made public.

There are a few valid reasons why Killers tunnel if it's not just because they feel like it.

If the Killer is low on gens or at the end game prepare to get tunneled most likely.

    cringe remark.

i play DBD almost daily and have kept DS, BT, Unbreakable out of my rotation since the Silent Hill content update.

the tunneling I experienced the first two games without bloodlust was concerncing to say the least. have i experienced the same content since those games? no; however, it was enough of an anomaly to warrant my post on the forums. i've used DS in several games this weekend

  • Pretty much this.

2 games really isn't enough to gather data on something. Especially when you don't know why the killers tunneled in the first place.

I got accused of tunneling one time, but I didn't take it too seriously since the person in question was fully healed and all alone and working on a generator in my face twice. Same gen, too. As survivor? Haven't seen anything at all, in fact I've been getting 12-hook killers. Which I really advise not being, anyone whose reading this. It's nice an all, but so not pretty.

I've been playing all night, and I've gotten

•2 camping/tunnelling ghostfaces, one of which moried everyone he could off of first hook.

•2 tunnelling huntresses, one of which tunnelled and moried off first hook (it backfired on her horribly since the one she tunneled actually knew how to loop, and 3 of us escaped)

•1 tunnelling Freddy, who I unfortunately got paired against twice in a row.

•3 killers who played "fair", a Deathslinger, a Spirit, and a Demo.

I put fair in quotation marks as of course it's all subjective. I just quantify it as no noticeable "toxic" behavior, no ######### talking in chat afterwards, overall making the game enjoyable. I still died against all 3 of them, which is worth note. You really don't need bloodlust to win, but it seems like in it's absence killers have caved and started playing scummy. The first day BL was taken away, I noticed it was slightly easier on the survivor side, and I escaped a majority of my games. I think killers noticed that too and this is the result.

If I hang, get unhooked (not in killer's face) and I'm being chased again, instead of, let's say the one who unhooked me, that's tunelling. Period.

If killers have a harder time catching healty survivors, because they can't count with bloodlust, it stands to reason that some end up tunneling the same survivor that is already injured to get easier kills.

I just go for whoever is injured or in a bad position when I find them, I don't really mind if he was just unhooked or not.

Most of the time survivors won't give you a chance to recover after a mistake, so I try to take advantage when I can.

BL announcement was public from the moment anyone entered the game. If you entered the game you would see a big message stating there was no BL. There is no such thing as a period where the loss of BL wasn't accessible to players.

So you mean that the Blood Lust announcement was announced ~1 month ago? Because I didn't say that the tunneling was recent.

I usually see tunneling more often when a trial has no Obsession, since DS feels like the only real tunneling discouragement tool that survivors have.

I have not seen more tunneling than usual or felt pressured to actively tunnel someone out of a trial (when playing killer) this weekend without Bloodlust.

In fact, I'd say I haven't really noticed a big change in chase dynamics outside of a few select problem-tiles that were already absurdly strong even with Bloodlust (like the God Bus or the Asylum Window loops).

Why not? Killer's chase ability was hindered, they now have even less time to work with.. changes have consequences

I did. I'm planning on playing survivor for the first time today, Might as well get some survivor challenges done while killers are nerfed.

you care to add your experiences to the data, or just play armchair statistician from the other side of your monitor?

2 games provides no statistically significant info, the sample size is too small.

There will always be killers that tunnel. Bring DS unbreakable if you hate it.

Playing both sides hasn't been different for me. I haven't noticed an increase or decrease in tunneling as a survivor and I barely even notice bloodlust is gone when playing killer.

I think many Survivors worry too much about whether they are being tunneled or not. Nine times out of ten the Killer is just taking the next person they see that looks easiest to reach. If you are unhooked and closer than the person who saved you, why would you think the Killer would ignore you? If the Killer stumbles upon you somewhere else on the map (this happens all the time to me) why would I ignore you? I'm not picky. I neither try to tunnel, nor go out of my way to avoid it. *If and when I tunnel there is a match specific reason for it, and thus very rare. I expect most Killers are the same as me. We take the next target of opportunity. It isn't personal; it isn't by intent.

I barely noticed when Bloodlust was gone for the weekend, and I didn't notice squat when it came back. It certainly doesn't factor into whether or not I chase you any longer. The only reason I'm chasing people longer than (20) seconds is because I have a Rift or a Daily that says I need a massive amount of chase time to complete it, or I have the luxury of chasing you do for match related reasons (you are the last one, everyone else is slugged, or half of you are gone and there are still 3+ Generators to be done.

Most Survivors suffer from TUNNEL vision. They think if they get hit again next, they were tunneled by some malign intent. Nope, they were just the weakest link who happened to pop up on the Killer's radar. The role of the Killer doesn't have a lot of time to work out who to go after and who not to go after for silly reasons such as, "hrm... that Survivor will be mad because I haven't hooked anyone else yet."
