The state of this game
Today's games so far:
- Game 1: iri head + ebony mori
- Game 2: unhooked in front of killer + tunneling killer
- Game 3: camped in basement
- Game 4: gg
- Game 5: error code 8012 (steam or bhvr is encountering issues, I wonder which)
- Game 6: 1 hiding teammate who made 12k BP with escape, camped hatch while we the rest of us died
- Game 7: got sacrificed near the endgame and got a Save Error in the post game screen, lost all BP from match, lost pips even though I did well
- Game 8: 7 minute queue time, player DCd during loading screen
- Game 9: 2k hook hamper, lucky, escaped cause rushed gens when we noticed camping
- Game 10: bubba rank 4 facecamper, 4k because teammates tried to rescue while bubba facecamping
1/10 games were enjoyable today

So many issues with this game, yet we are doing bLoOdLuSt eXpErImEnTs.
I would so like to just quit this game, but it's like an abusive relationship. You remember how good it used to be and you keep coming back to it even though you know it's more toxic than Chernobyl. The game can be extremely fun, but statistically speaking, I'm getting frustrated with it more than I am actually enjoying it.
The devs have very poor communication with their playerbase to actually let us know if anything is being worked on, and are arrogant. I mean Mathieu is a meme at this point.
Errors aside, I wish they would just hire Otzdarva as the balance man. His community patch ideas are actually pretty good and solve most of what makes the gameplay of this game so unfair sometimes, without any bias towards any side.

This is one of my favorite games. I play killer and survivor. I have fun every time.

As a killer main I can confirm that there are also many problems and un-fun things in the game. Honestly the game just isn't that fun for both sides.

I can only remark every word of yours. This game is like that toxic friendship in which you get constantly insulted and bullied, but from time to time they can be nice and you get invited to some parties.

i can't argue with the type of players you encounter, we all know how the regular player base behave, but, regarding your technical difficulties, i can't relate, cause i'm not having any issues.

I've played quite a bit of matches the past 3 days and sadly i've had a lot of toxic remarks thrown at me and at least 1 game each day of racial slurs thrown at me and the people acting like nothing will happen to them. I don't really understand the need for the incredible hatred towards one another in these games just doesn't make sense. We're all playing the game, we all do stuff the other doesn't like during the game, why does the after game chat have to be about insults and toxicity?

For the past few months dbd has been miserable for both sides. But there's always that rush of excitement for a good match that makes me come back to the game even though I hate it.

I play this game because I love the horror aspect and the Friday the 13th game failed harder then this. This game has many problems, but no one else has made in the genre that is similar. I would gladly play something else, but this still has many elements I love, even though it often fails TERRIBLY at playing out those ideas.
The OP calls out 1 in 10 games being fun. I would quit if my experience was that bad. While no other game is like this one, that is too poor of an experience to continue IMO.
I would say I enjoy somewhere around 5.5/10 games. It is on the edge of what I consider acceptable, but I do play with friends, which helps keep me interested. Playing solo killer it is a solid 50/50 on if it is fun. I don't need to kill 3+ to consider it a fun game, but I feel locked into a limited number of perks to have a chance, and then when I do well, I'm called trash or worse in end game chat by survivors with all tier1 perks but I'm the ######### for playing the game.

Yeah, I guess people prefer to feed into their delusion because they love the game so much, would suck to admit that what you like is actually very flawed.
I wish something big will happen soon, or else I doubt I'll be playing this game much longer.

I've only been playing a month and I really like the game overall so far. I haven't had enough time here yet to have built up such strong dislike of or frustration with various aspects of the game but, no matter, the devs will need to make some drastic changes to maintain the playerbase here once Back 4 Blood comes out...

- Game 2: Used dead hard correctly and got away
- Game 3: Cleansed NOED and Ruin totems
- Game 4: Key holder found hatch and waited for all survivors to escape
- Game 5: UB/DS combo worked this time
- Game 6: ggs from everyone in end game chat
- Game 7: Hooked but someone ran kindred
- Game 8: Survivor with ace in the hole opened chest, pointed at me to take item

10/10 games were enjoyed today. You will only see the bad if that's all you're looking for. Learn to use dead hard. As far as the errors, fix your internet or steam before blaming BHVR.

I actually had some good matches as solo survivor today. Completed the "escape as Adam" challenge on the first try. Then I completed the "finish repairing three gens in one match" on the first try. And finally I completed the "escape through the hatch" challenge on the first try, which was actually quite clutch because even with Left Behind I would have died to the EGC if I had taken literally one millisecond longer to reach the hatch, ohmigod. Awesome moment.
Three matches, no one tunneled out. I think all of them were 2k 2e. Good stuff.
I'll be honest though, good matches aren't the norm. It's more about too much time and money invested to quit. But DbD isn't all bad.

No better game of this type unfortunately. At least not one that hasn't died within the year. DBD devs get away with slow, awful balancing and buggy content because there's no one giving them competition or getting them to buck their ideas up.

Sure I'll fix my internet which has literally no issues with anything else other than this game, and BHVR are obviously known for how well they optimize their game.

I go through phases with this game. Sometimes I hate it, and I’ll take a break for a while. Sometimes I love it. Right now I’m in a “love it” phase and I just get enjoyment and satisfaction from nearly every match. :D
As survivor I have some friends I play with which helps a lot. The matches are more fun. As killer I just try not to take stuff to heart and play for fun. I’ve been playing this game off and on for a long time which helps.

"Learn to use Dead Hard" no, it's currently bugged. It's not the fault of the user, dedicated servers make it so that you can become exhausted without going invulnerable and still get downed.
