Killer Farming
How come there is an increase in killers that will kill one survivor then farm the rest of the match? I have had it happen a handful of times in the past couple weeks and I have always been under the impression that you either farm the entire match or you farm none of it. It's pretty ######### to lose a pip then watch a killer allow every other survivor to escape.

That is weird. I see it happen more when 1 person disco's, but the fact they kill 1 person, then turn to friendly/killer farm mode is unusual.

I've heard of this being a strat for farming, because the remaining 3 survivors can either farm or get steamrolled, so they usually choose to farm. So, it's not unusual, just kinda annoying when you're the unlucky survivor who got culled to make the other three submissive.

Completing rift challenges? e.g. Damage X amount of gens in one match?

I hook everyone once before farming with them, but sometimes I get a suicide or accidentally hook them again after their first one and it scares the heck out of me. I always feel bad when it happens, and I wish I could have a post game chat to let them know, but I hope your next matches, farming or not, are super fun and don't have this happen :)!

I don't really buy the challenge aspect of it. If the killer has a challenge to kill a survivor, then play a normal match. If there challenge is like you said and they need to damage x amount of generators and they want to farm to get it then farm the entire match. There's no need to play normal then halfway through decide to farm.

It's most definitely unusual but if the killer is that good where after they kill one survivor they think they will steamroll the rest the do that. It's a very bad look to kill one survivor then allow the rest to escape.

Happens sometimes if a killer sees a pub survivor sandbag the hell out of another survivor too.
It's usually what you said though more often than not, unfortunately.

I've seen some people say they'll kill one or two survivors and then farm with the others because they wanted the sacrifice points. Personally I find it pretty crappy to do that, I'm very much a farm with all or none because I know how much it sucks to be killed quickly first and then see the killer farm with everyone else.

I'm playing right now and it is absolute trash. There definitely seems to be an ongoing theme of killers that love to camp and/or tunnel. I also keep getting matched with other survivors that body block and other stupid crap. This game is definitely becoming less fun.

Oh honey, I just had a match against legion where all of my teammates just urban evaded through the whole map and never touched a gen, whereas the other two kept running into the killer for some reason and just?? stood there? Also one of them healed themselves IN THE BASEMENT I WAS SO LOST LIKE SIS.... stop that!!!! I'm not sure how long I can handle this. They were all rank 15-20. I'm back at rank 6 because of MMR stuff like this. Ugh!!

With the way matches are going I'm working on being a rank 15 here pretty soon. I was a rank 13 after the reset. That's how bad this has gotten and usually I play with 3 other people I know so tonight is just extra crappy because I'm playing with randos. Some people know how to take the fun right out of it.

The only te I do something like that is when I realize after that one kill, I'm probably not going to get anymore so I just try to get as much points as I can. I feel bad for that one guy who died but hey, it happens.
What I hate is when the one person who just urban evades and self cares in the corner doing nothing let's all their teamates die, then gets a free hatch escape
That's BS for my 4k and BS to the people who were actually trying

When I see someone get sand bagged I try to let them get away and go for the person who sandbagged them cause it's messed up
0 -
that bugs me too, it feels like sometimes I'm only one on the team actually playing the game and I'm the first to die for it.
as a killer I try not to farm but If I'm going for rift challenges I'll usually let the team know. and let them live. The games can be rough on both sides and everyone needs a break every now and then.

I will farm when I get a mori daily on an unfun killer but I usually wait to use the mori until the end when everyone's gotten a bunch of points or someone wants to be a party poopers and get out early
1 -
I delete the daily's for moris I don't like, had one for the trapper the other day and ditched it. if it's a cool mori I'll keep it

Yeah that is what I was saying.
A lot of killers will do that if they see it clearly.

No, it doesn't just happen. You shouldn't be playing the game that way. Either farm or don't farm.

That's completely different than what I was saying. There's no reason to kill target one survivor, get the kill, then allow everyone else to escape. There's no excuse, there's point of validity to it, it's just pathetic for a killer to play that way.

Sometimes it comes down to how you play. I've noticed that Killers won't farm with players that "bm"- tbag, clicky clicky flashlight, blendette, etc. Sometimes a survivor completely misses the signal from the Killer that they're farming friendly 🤷♀️
I try not to spectate any more myself because sometimes it just aggravates me to watch.

Trapper Challenge - Catch 6 survivors with traps in 1 match.
Sometimes you have to be friendly and farm that 60k BP, they get a lot of points doing gens an healing each other or doing pursuits, and u complete that lindo of challenges, win win

I'm not saying like target or tunnel that one dude. Then farm cause you got a kill, That's kinda messed up. There are times where I finally get a kill after hooking just about everyone, but then I realize that all the gens are done and I have little to no points. On the target of sandbagging, if I see you sandbag your team I'm gonna chase you instead and let the person you sandbagged go. Doesn't mean in not gonna go for that person again, just means I'm going to go for you first.

Yeah, so like I said, totally different from what I was even talking about. The topic was about killers that kill one survivor then farm the rest of the match not targeting survivors that sandbag others and allowing the survivor that got sandbagged to escape.

Right, it would make since to farm that. So with the original topic that people can't seem to remain focused on, there's no reason to kill one survivor then farm the rest of the match.

I'm starting to find these excuses comical for why a killer would kill one person then farm. All the excuses still do not make it right for a killer to do that. Saying it comes down to how you play has nothing to d ok with what I was talking about.

I've been on both ends of this (being the survivor killed and being left to farm) and it really leaves a sour taste. You either farm with everyone or you don't at all imo.
Unless you're killing a sandbagger or someone who is toxic, then fair enough.
1 -
Exactly! I have always heard that exact same thing and that's what I follow but it seems like less people know or understand that idea.

as a killer i only let peope farm if somebody is begin a j*rk and just suicide or DC on first hook by no reason(I hate this people)....,someone is a toxic sandbagger... otherwise i dont ....also if someone do something rlly and i mean RLLY funny that make me laugh so hard XD i will let him live. don't judge me XD
1 -
Yeah, that also is completely different from what I'm talking about. I swear reading comprehension skills on this forum are lacking. Go back and read my original post it clearly is about killers that kill one survivor then allowing the rest to survive. Nothing about that has anything to do with your excuses for why you decide to farm. It's pretty simple, farm the whole match or none of it.

"there's no reason to kill one survivor then farm the rest of the match"....to be honest in my 1.5k of hours ...can tell a lot of reasons than why a killer decide to do this....and the most valid reason its because of INTENTIONAL SANDBAGGERs ...

this question is just absurd...i mean yeah sometimes on my matches i maybe kill 2 or 1 of them and i left the other farms because they was playing nice and decent....i dont have the obligation to farm all 4 of them ...sometimes u can see a survivor begin toxic and the rest trying so hard to survive and then my mind its like "wow this poor guys..got 1 teammate that is literally sandbagging or just hidding and doing NOTHING even not rescue people.." and about getting pips whats the point of that ....ranks doesnt matter anyway is not like u are losing BPs anyway....soo whats the problem (RANK 1 KILLER and SURVIVOR btw) i want to depip to be honest e_e

Please don't be rude to ppl who are taking the time to answer your question. Because you did ask a question.
Maybe you need to re-read your post yourself. Because if all you wanted to do was vent and drag players for a specific play decision and then dismiss any reasons for it, you shouldn't have opened the discussion with a question.
Good luck, hope you have better games.

Right, I play in a party with 3 other survivors I know. So it's pretty ridiculous to see a killer kill one survivor typically by tunneling and face camping then letting everyone else live by farming. It just goes back to farm the entire match or play a normal match.

Yeah this is often my reason for farming with 3 and killing one survivor as well.
If they have someone who has just been AFK; I'll try and farm with the other 3 after I kill the AFK person. Same if one person is just doing nothing but trying to sand bag the other three, and it's apparent they are all trying to play like normal and he isn't actually with them. Things like that.
It's literally one person's direct answer to your question just oddly written; so that is about as on topic as things can be.

I mean...is this really that big of a deal? There are so many reasons the Killer might have for playing the way they did, and everyone on these forums, Survivor mains or Killer mains already has to suffer the many unofficial "rules" that everyone wants everyone else but them to abide by in a game - "don't tunnel!" "Well then don't gen rush!" "Don't slug!" "Well then don't swarm me when I'm about to down and carry someone!" and now "Don't play normal for some time and farm the rest?"
I've only been in this game a month and amount of whining and complaining about how people play is astounding but maybe that's just because this game is a few years old and the majority of the player base consists of veterans with years-worth of built up salt.
Let people play how they're gonna play, and instead focus on changing your mindset about it, and the game in general. I get camped, I get tunneled, I get teabagged, and none of it bothers me a bit. It is what it is. Learn to accept it and move on.

Yeah, this is probably a healthier way to look at it.
I mean, if they killed one person already, even if their logic is to get you to farm or avoid being steamrolled I mean....you can choose to be steamrolled? I would be quite happy if he let 3 people farm, it just would suck if I was the one he killed. It's not that much different then when I am playing as dwelf, quite often it gets me tunneled but sometimes a killer will kill all 3 of my friends, and then let me farm some points and let me go JUST because they like my costume.
My three friends don't throw a fit because he let me go but killed them, they usually just laugh it off.
I think the big problem is less to do with pips or such imo, but rather if you kill one person in a SWF and try and farm with the rest; it's more likely to make it HARDER to farm not easier, because your buddies are going to be like "This takes too long and we wanna get back in game with our friend" and just kinda rush to die on hook or something.
In general though, it's not different from a normal game, and you are given a choice to farm or play normal so no one is being held hostage. I don't agree with that behaviour myself; but tbh I've also never had a killer do that and then try and farm before, so it's not even that common of a thing; I've only heard about this strategy before I've never actually had it happen in game even once yet.

Yeah I can understand it sucks if you're in a team and end up being the 1 person killed having to sit out the rest of the game, but, as you mention, this happens in normal games too. Sometimes you just find the weakest link, sacrifice them and then legitimately have trouble with the remaining 3, which could end up looking like farming. Even if it is farming, 3 people can finish the game pretty quickly when left to do as they please, so the one dead person can be reunited more quickly this way I'd think, or, they can give themselves up to the Killer. I've had this happen to me, where I downed and hooked 1 person, trapped the sh** out of the hook and so they never attempted a save. That 1 died and then the rest just rushed me, circling me like sharks lol. Since I'm still pretty new to the game, it came across as very strange gameplay and I didn't understand it but 1 by 1 they all wanted to die and re-queue for a new game. So, I think if you want to get out quickly, it's not too difficult to signal the Killer to just end things.
Personally, I don't farm ever. I play for the fun of it, not the points, the points are just a bonus. If I'm gonna be nice, it's usually when there is 1 or 2 gens left and 1 survivor left where I'll decide to let them go or not (depending on the gameplay of course - if they were cocky and teabagged and such, then there's no mercy). I have this opportunity fairly frequently though and most of the time, even when I intend to allow a friendly escape, the remaining survivor is an ass that's just waiting by the hatch for me to come by so they can get one last teabag in before jumping in. -_- Oh well.
