Survivor etiquette and tips on efficiency
I don't mean to sound snarky or condescending when explaining this so sorry if I come off as douchey. Just trying to spread word of nice things you can do that helps your team. If you have anything else to add, please go ahead and comment, I will be posting what I know of survivor etiquette.
- When you are on hook and there is only one other person, unless you know that you can finish the last gen and get out, let yourself die so that the last person can have a chance to get out through the hatch. (etiquette)
- When playing solo queue, please try to fit kindred in your build instead of just adrenaline, DS, unb, and SB. Kindred really does make a difference in solo queue. Even though people know how good kindred is, they are still reluctant on bringing it in solo queue. (etiquette)
- Give med kits to survivors who need it. For example, if someone is on death hook go ahead and you have a styptic or syringe med kit, then use it on them. For a styptic, it is better if you give them the med kit so they can use it when they need to. For a syringe, just use it on them when you can. They don't need to be on death hook though, if you get to a generator with a survivor wants to be healed, just give them a med kit that has enough for one full heal. This simple gesture is a great way at being efficient. (etiquette)
- If a survivor has a med kit and is healing themselves, don't waste time trying to heal them, it is more efficient if you get a head start on a generator during that time. (tip)
- Only heal if you really need to or it is convenient. For example, if someone is on a gen then go ahead and heal somebody. If you are on death hook, then go right ahead and spend the time healing, even self care if you must. The longer there are four survivors alive, the more leverage you have on any killer. (tip)
- Always be doing something, at least search a chest if your team is doing alright on gens or even a totem if you want. Items in a chest can really help sometimes, even a brown toolbox can help you clutch a gen with someone. (tip)
- Only use toolboxes when you are working with someone else on a generator, that way you get much more out of it. You can even sabotage a hook if you are good with timing it. (tip)
- Never loop the killer close to a hooked survivor, this will allow the killer to chase a survivor and defend a hooked survivor at the same time or at least much easier. (please)
- Don't lead the killer towards someone doing a generator. Bond is great for helping you lead a killer away from a generator if someone is working on it. (tip)
- Utilize you HUD. You can see if the obsession is in a chase or tell how your team is doing. It allows you to know what's going on at the moment and let you know what you should do to help your team. (tip)
- When slugged (downed but not being hooked) choose to crawl in the open so someone can get a flashlight save, crawl to a pallet, or fully recover and then do any of the other options. (tip)
- When you need to heal and are doing a generator, 99% your heal (stop healing right before you are done) and finish the generator (also 99% the gen). That way, the killer doesn't get an early notification when you complete a generator and you heal before they have time to go over to where you are. Be careful when doing this against a stealth killer though. (tip)
If any of these tips help you in-game, please let me know so that I actually can tell if this actually helps people and I feel important lol.

Never thought of #3 to give them the med-kit. Dropping items is such a forgot about feature. Will keep it in mind moving forward :)

All pretty good tips as a solo survivor myself.

1- NEVER cleanse a totem if someone is finishing the last gen in front of it. It can be noed
2- if the killer is chasing you don”t run towards a hooked survivor. I see it so many times and I can”t understand it

Do not loop near a hooked survivor.
DO. NOT. LOOP. NEAR. THE. HOOK.
Also, before going for a hook rescue, count to 10, unless the killer somehow teleports away or is otherwise clearly occupied. A bad rescue is worse than no rescue. A good rule is if you start your rescue when inside the terror radius your actively helping the killer kill someone faster, unless you have borrowed time.
Don't just sit on your ass though watching the killer camp. They often see you, or assume your there if no gens are going off after winning a chase, or saw your scratches or whatever. You have no right to complain about camping if you made it the correct choice, its your job to PUNISH camping, not play into it. The best way to get the killer to panic and secure the rescue is to make sure 3 gens pop and make the killer afraid that the survivors are absolutely willing to win the game at the cost of 1 of them.

Yes, I hate seeing people loop near a hooked person.

The amount of players that loop the shack near a hooked person and call me a camper post game is crazy. At least wait for me to leave the hook before creating a mountain of scratch marks.

I want to say that "only heal when you need to" is a horrible tip. However now that I think about it, since you always need to when you're injured if you don't want to be an easy kill, I guess it's not inaccurate.

I hesitate to call running Kindred, giving someone else your med kit, and letting yourself die "etiquette." I think those are options that new players might forget about, but I don't think it's, like, a social requirement of the game.

Etiquette: if the killer is camping and a surv unhooks you with bt body block and take the hit

Yeah I know, but it is just a nice thing to do. If there is two survivors, then the likelihood of both of them escaping is drastically decreased. Letting yourself die on hook when there is one more person is probably the best thing you can do to make sure someone escapes. If you don't, then you will probably get the both of you killed. You don't have to do it though.

ALSO...Try not to run the killer toward survivors doing a generator. If you hear the gen sound ahead and can move in a direction away from the survivors working on a gen, then do so.

This is a problem especially in solo queue.

Learn to utilize your HUD. The HUD contains a lot of useful information, not just the injured / dying state of survivors. For example. say you are being unhooked. You notice a little blue symbol that looks like my avatar, that means i can heal you super fast, it also means you don't need to run to the other side of the damn map to get that heal. All buffs and some killer effects such as Thana and its like, will show up in the same place and its worth learning to recognize when these are in play.
If you are on a gen injured, or with someone injured, and it's safe to do so, stop repairing at 99% and heal up. Now there are some who might disagree with this, but i tend to find that a good portion of killers will zero in on an area where a gens been completed, and a lot of people get found healing nearby, or just found injured as both repairing parties ran of in different directions.
Alternate your gens! This can be difficult to do in solo, but if you complete a gen on one side of the map, make an effort to do the next one on the complete opposite side, this lessens the chances of you being 3 genned.
If you are being slug camped, don't just lie there and take it. Yes, being slug camped is boring, but i try to have fun with it. Crawl away from your camper, making sure not to lead them in the direction of team mates. 9 times out of 10 I find that the killer gives up on the camp strategy and either walks away, or hooks me. Some will follow you, thinking you are about to rat out your team mates and will just follow you. In these cases, waste their time as much as possible. Slugged along with another survivor, crawl off in different directions, killer can't follow you both.
For the love of all that is holy, if you see a slug crawling away to hide while they recover, do not attempt to get them up while you are in a chase. This isn't an issue for swf as they can communicate if fully recovered, but in solo i have lost count of the many times i have crawled, hid, gotten to about 90% recovery, only to have someone to attempt a heal mid chase and now the killer knows where i am again. Also, even if you do get them up, chances are they are going right back down again, and you'll likely take a hit as well.

Ah yes the HUD, the thing that is so useful but noobs ignore unless someone is on a hook.
