So, I've played on PS4 for the past 2 years. But, my PS4 bit the dust and doesn't work anymore (F), so yesterday a friend of mine got me an early Christmas present and bought me DbD on Steam. I got the silent hill edition along with a few extra DLC's blah blah blah, I've noticed some things.

  • For one, hot damn the tutorial is terrible. Particularly the killer one. I understand that they can't have a tutorial for every killer (they should really just add a practice mode) but, the tutorial taught me how to: Swing, lunge, damage things, pick up & hook. Nothing else. The literal last thing it said was "Oh, btw every killer has a unique power! Here's 25,000 BP, go screw yourself!" They really, really need to update these. There was nothing about vaulting, nothing about breakable walls, nothing about Hex Totems or totems in general. The survivor one was a bit better, but only because it taught more of the basics. Healing, injured state, repairing gens. I don't think it ever actually taught me how to throw a pallet. Again, I've been playing this game for two years so I know how, but these tutorials are not new player friendly - especially in the loop-centric meta we have now.
  • Secondly... Hoo boy, matchmaking. I played only two games so far, and already it's terrible. It shouldn't be bad for low-rank players who've had the game for awhile, much less people who just bought the game.

My first game was as Wraith, on Shelter Woods.

I got a 4k (and a DC for some reason) but only because I've played this game for so long. I had 1 perk going up against a person more than twice my current rank. Again, yes - I won, but only because I've been playing this game for awhile. A new player would have no chance.

My second game was Survivor on Pale Rose. Speaking of new players, I am 99% sure this huntress was new. She didn't even know how to break the pallet at first, she kept swingingat it. She only used her hatchets twice. Once when chasing me. She hit a tree. And again when the rank 20 with urban evasion was teabagging her at the exit gate. Oh, also, why is this new player going against a red rank?

Other than that... Well, the game runs better. It's a lot easier to lunge with a mouse. Also, everything is so loud. Particularly Wraith. I love that Bing Bong Boi, but he really needs a lozenge.
