Here is where you want wrong.
You downed one of them. I mean really dude? How could you do something so brutal?
Don't you know that is survivor rule #153?
"The killer should not down a survivor. If the killer manages to down a survivor, said survivor, plus his friends, neighbors, family, and general community is entitled to taunt, rage, and send death threats, along with racial slurs to the killer in question".
Not to be confused with survivors rule #193 though. As it reads -
"All survivor complaints are valid and will receive full developer support".
Just wait till you hear the rules on how to play The Spirit, plus nerf forums.
Anyways, I hope now you understand how to play the game properly and be a less toxic killer. :chuffed:

You forgot about #153b and #153c that state that the killer is indeed supposed to down survivors, but is not supposed to hook them with the intention to kill. Either the killer lets the survivors heal each other or he hooks only twice in order to farm hook points with them.
Not downing is a toxic playstyle because it denies the survivors to gain altruism BP
4 -
You have several factors that contribute to the toxicity.
1.) You're on PS4, so is "He Who Shall Not be Named" went to that platform after being hardware banned form PC so you're stuck with him and his harem of twelve-year-olds.
- Additionally, many players say that PS4 has the largest toxic player base out of the whole game so there's that too.
2.) Recently many entitled people are whining that they couldn't get all of the 21 unique cosmetics from Hallowed Grounds for free through grinding. This will create unrest on both sides for a while, further boosting toxicity on all platforms. So by combining PS4's naturally toxic community with the presence of "You Know Who" and the general unrest from the overhyped Hallowed Grounds Event and you get dangerous levels of toxicity. May the Entity have mercy on your soul for the coming days.

Ah, u rite, u rite.
Seems I need to brush up a bit more. So I to can play with a less toxic play style.

hmm so to be a true rank one killer you need to down survivors but let them wiggle free you need to purposely eat pallets and clumsily barrel through windows and at the end you must endure the tea bagging and you suck messages. got it will this all be on the test Mr. swiftblade?

Rule #1 of the PS4 killer book: Change your message settings to Friends only

I'm a survivor main, although I play killer a fair bit too. I'll try to answer your questions honestly.
First off, kudos to you for trying to make the game fun for everyone! Not enough people, killers or survivors, do that nowadays. Not to mention being a good sport even when the game wasn't much fun for you. And kudos for legitimately being open to addressing issues with your play style instead of blaming everyone around you. Have a virtual high-five.
People like this ruin the game for everyone. Salty killers give killers a bad name, and salty survivors give survivors a bad name. Nobody wins. I think it would be easier to address the issue if you had more specific examples, but I'll do my best.
First off, you're totally right that you would be a fool to leave the hook if you don't see anyone with BBQ (although it's worth bearing in mind that people could be hiding behind generators so that their auras are masked, so they might not all actually be nearby. That said, obviously from your perspective it's in your best interests to assume they are close). From the survivor perspective, especially if they don't know you have BBQ, it looks like you're just camping. (In a zero-communication situation, when people see someone else doing something wrong, the human tendency is to assume that it's for the worst reasons. For example, if you see someone run a red light, the immediate assumption is that they're being reckless or unsafe or an idiot. If you knew that they were rushing their dying wife to the hospital, though, you might be more understanding of their actions.) Now, any reasonable survivor will see BBQ under your perks in the postgame and think "well damn, it sucks that he camped but if he knew we were all nearby then he didn't have much of a choice". Unfortunately, a lot of people don't stop to think like that. So the long and short of it is, in that situation you're not doing anything wrong and there's not much you can do short of playing badly so as not to piss them off.
Secondly, camping Leatherface is aids for survivors. I know it's the most viable strategy, since he can down multiple people at once, but it just feels hopeless and impossible and not fun. I have played games against some great Leatherfaces who killed all 4 of us without camping at all, and it's always much more fun when it feels like a fair match. So it's not the only way to play, and since you seem interested in improving the experience for everyone involved I would encourage you to try not camping on him either. When I play killer, I actually find that the experience is much more rewarding bloodpoints-wise if you don't camp anyway.
Not all survivors are sore losers, but a lot can be, especially when they think you were camping which makes them feel like they didn't have a chance or it wasn't a fair game. Many people overreact in that situation. I've seen some truly awful things said by teammates to killers who barely camped at all, but stayed in the same quarter of the map as the hook. So again, my best advice is to just keep trying to play well and fairly. If they still think you're trash, at least you can take comfort in knowing that they're just being sore losers.
TL;DR: You're not doing anything wrong for the most part, a lot of people insult first and think later, but if you want to improve your playing style for the sake of other people's experience, don't camp as cannibal or anyone else, and you might even find that you get more points that way as a bonus.

Calling a killer out for camping or tunneling is the fastest and least thought requiring action a survivor can perform to release their anger about a lost game.
I would say that it is very hard for everyone to be polite after they lost a game that's just what emotions do to us, I hate them too.
Did I just express an emotion called anger, [insert really bad swear words here].
I got called out for camping when I played hag, because when you put a trap next to a hooked survivor it apparently counts as camping even if you're all the way across the map SMH.
I really don't understand why BHVR didn't make a trap near a hooked survivor count towards losing points for your chaser emblem, same thing should apply to trapper because his traps even injure players, he should lose twice as many points and the radius around the hook should be increased by 2 times for hillbilly because he is so inSANICly fast. Nurse should always be looked at as camping, because she can instantly return to a hook from everywhere in the map, so dang overpowered.
TL/DR : Being called a camper sucks but I think it will take a very long time and serious effort from our entire community to change our mindset and to learn how to deal with your anger.0 -

@friendlykillermain Aw thank you Right back atcha! I love meeting nice, thoughtful killers. Restores my faith in humanity in general and this community in particular.
1 -
My problem is the opposite. Killers that suck so bad they quit out. On PS4 these cheaters exploit this because it allows the killers to possibly stop survivors from getting their blood and rank at the end of the match. Fortunately the last three killers that did this, did it as everyone was exiting. So we still got our rewards, but they got nothing.
Oh, and believing you deserve to win because you paid to win... If you can't tell why people are upset with you there is something seriously wrong with your perspective.

Rule #1 of the PS4 killer book: Change your message settings to Friends onlyI actually enjoy getting entitled messages from people at times.
I've had to turn it off before a couple times for a few days... after being told to kill myself and being threatened to be killed in real life... (seriously)
1 time a guy threatened to come kill me... it was text, and he seemed serious... but who knows.
It was concerning... but I do enjoy the salt... I usually get something like this...
"You're trash... #########" (which is a millennial term for #########)
"You're not even good, play something else kid".
Or
"Rank 1? and you patrol camped? You're trash..."
And it usually comes from someone with an annoying name in game, dark clothes.. tryhard perks and entitlement can be smelled on them through the screen...

@kisfenkin I hate when that happens. I play on PC, and if the killer DCs survivors get safety pip and get to keep their items. The only thing lost is offerings. I don't know if that's the case on PS4 but if not that really sucks
Also I don't think that's quite what he meant, although it was worded badly. I think he was trying to say that he wants to take advantage of cannibal's strengths and use his power effectively, as you would with any killer, but especially in this case because he paid money to be able to play him and there would be no point if he didn't make use of the killer's unique abilities. Cannibal does unfortunately encourage camping because of his ability to down multiple survivors at once, but there are other ways to play him that are often more lucrative.

ah yes some of my favorite insults ive been messaged are " i hope you cant find a pencil in your back pack when you go to middle school tomorrow" that one was clearly targeted at the wrong person and " " its people like you who make the devs buff killers every single patch and Nerf survivors into mush i hope someone breaks into your house and injects you artery's with syrup." truly both of these are artworks.

I agree, they're funny AF. I just send them back a nice Crybaby image every time. But man, then you have the spam Lords that won't let you listen footsteps and other audio cues in your next game... Edit: It actually got filtered... I mean when being told to go and take your own "you know what"

Lol, I couldn't help myself. Someone blatantly says, "I paid to win," and expects applause but gets abusive messages... Some people would call it supporting the game, and if he had focused on different terms like unlocking or simply omitted the fact that it cost him money.. well then I couldn't have taken advantage of the obvious hilarity then.

@friendlykillermain Well, at least they're creative? Lol that's happened to me playing as killer. I was trying to prestige Doc, and before I prestige a character I like to use up their nicest items/addons/offerings so they don't all go to waste when I prestige and everything disappears. So I just slapped a couple of high tier addons on there, didn't even check what they did. I killed 1 survivor because they were pissing me off, let the other 3 escape. I never camp, and go out of my way to not tunnel. The one that died called me trash, a c word, said I had "tryhard items" lol and followed it all up with a simple directive: "suck penis". And it was like... okay, but who's the one that got themselves killed?

yeah the serious ones are always unsettling but sometimes on very very very very rare occasions i will get actual threats "i know your address (insert actual address here) stop playing this game or i will kill you" this was alarming but luckily the address he messaged with was one i lived at 3 years previously but still scary #########.

@friendlykillermain wow, advanced stuff for a 4 year old. Pretty sure my brother didn't even know that word at 4. I'm impressed.

I don't get triggered, but it does concern me a bit that someone tells me to kill myself or threatens to kill me.I mean it's just extreme.
I mostly think it's ridiculous and laugh it off, but 1 dude was pretty serious once, and that was alarming.
yeah the serious ones are always unsettling but sometimes on very very very very rare occasions i will get actual threats "i know your address (insert actual address here) stop playing this game or i will kill you" this was alarming but luckily the address he messaged with was one i lived at 3 years previously but still scary #########.
How's that even possible? And I would answer "Come get some" in that case
if you really want to find out about someone the internet is alarmingly successful at it

Videogames is why.
It's more rampant in this game, but not exclusive.
Got enough hate when playing Versus in Left 4 Dead 2.0 -

i played yesterday for about hours (because i have nothing better to do) and finished about 80 something games. of these games 80% of them ended with hate messaging. i can take insults i really dont care what people say but it just confuses me why the hate #1 i do not camp the only time i could possibly considered a camper is when i play leather face but i paid my good money for that so i dont feel bad how i play him but when i play the shape and the pig and the clown people hate me they always call me a no skill camper. whats weird is when i hook someone and barbecue and chili doesn't give me an aura well id be a fool to not stay behind with make your choice and get a easy bear trap or a evil within 3 massacre but if i do see more than 1 aura i always head to the one closest to a gen is this really my fault or are all survivors sore losers. even when i had the most frustrating shape game not one sacrifice or kill even with Judith tombstone and fragrant lock of hair both being wasted i still messaged everyone gg that was fun but when i really pull through and get an amazing merciless victory the messages i get are [BAD WORD] camper. survivor mains out their why does this happen just curious i would hate to be playing a style that takes the fun out of the game.Because this is dead by daylight and we all expect this
heh yeah i guess
I get messages from salty survivors calling me a camper after I see a claudette near hook
