The streams are getting...boring.
When I see how Ethan answers to the questions, I want literally to cry. It looks like's he's reading from the notes on computer and the way he tries to answer the question sounds fake and like he was talking because someone ordered to him. Meanwhile McLean and not_Queen somehow sounds not bad. I don't want the team to be happy 24/7 but damn, don't be such a robot when you answer the questions of your community.
Also don't read the whole text from the notes on the paper or computer. Use the simple language to be more understanble for community. Get to the point and explain shortly why.
Take notes devs from the Kombat Kast from MK11. The way their team lead the stream is very unique, interesting and funny. Cheers.

When the streams were more relaxed and fun, players complained because they felt like the devs were mocking them or otherwise not taking their jobs seriously. Ethan also wants to be very precise about what he's saying (it's a physicist thing), which is why he prepares his answers beforehand.

Because they weren't talking about anything useful to the game back then. It doesn't mean they must behave without emotions when doing the streams.

I don't like a lot of ethan's decisions but I don't really care about the tone or register he uses. Being a good entertainer isn't essential to being a game dev

Sounds like he's being professional. It's a Q&A stream, a way for the devs to answer our questions. They're not meant for entertainment.

I understand that. I'm the exact way. If I'm in a SWF and someone says "come to Shack" I question which side they are on. If someone is saying "Shack pallet gone", I feel the need to ask whether it's just down or if they broke it. If I'm playing Among Us, I need the voting time to max because it takes me 9 years to break down exactly why I am accusing this person for that reason. I really don't care how long they take as long as they are precise

If he was professional, he could look at least at the camera. Reading from the notes at all time doesn't make you a professional.

Is this a serious complaint? I haven't finished watching the stream, but none of the devs are staring at the camera at all times. They glance at the camera at random intervals, Ethan included.

I hate to say it, but it seems like you're just grasping at straws to find something to complain about.
Yes the update has been a complete [BAD WORD] show but people have already complained about the bugs and unfinished state of the game.
Most of the hate has been somewhat justified, but this is just complaining for the sake of complaining.

Isn’t there enough bugs and issues with the game that you can complain about (in this case rightfully)? We don’t need to start ‚critizising‘ a dev for his behavior in front of a cam during a live stream. He did that well enough, he is not an entertainer or streamer and answers community questions here in a completely normal and human way. No need for him to start acting like somebody that isn’t him.

I'm sorry but I'm going to have to refute this. The man is a Game Designer, not an entertainer - he's there to answer the questions that were put to him by the Community and he did so very well with plenty of information. Judging his character by the fact that he's more serious on stream is pretty rude quite frankly. Not everyone enjoys being in front of the camera to that extent and people can feel quite uncomfortable by it - not saying that's the case, but that's a possible reason for his seriousness. Plus don't forget, this is his job, his work time not his time to relax - pretty sure if he was laughing and joking through the stream, people would say he wasn't taking anything seriously!

McLean is also a dev ( Gameplay programmer ) But yet he can somehow explain the things clearly and making it easy to understand. He doesn't look like he's reading something on force and from papers or notes on the computer.

As long as what he says makes sense and is correct, I don't give a crap on how he says it.
Now I don't know him personally, but he strikes me as more of a calm and reserved kind of person, so that's probably why he just answers straight to the point without fooling around.
And as a kinda reserved guy myself I'd probably do the same.

And keep in mind that what he said was that OoO showed no significant statistical impact in survivability. He literally just presented the facts, which a lot of people "summarized" as "OoO is fine". If he had gotten "straight to the point", as OP seems to want (or not, hard to tell), he would've actually said "OoO is fine" without any reasoning behind it.

Yes, because the game is filled with bugs and it's impossible to play without worrying to get a stuck in the map. Anyway I'm glad I didn't buyed the new DLC or anything from the in-game store lately. This game is in really bad state and is no longer enjoyable and BHVR only cares about money. Gonna play MK11. At least they listened to the community and they added Mileena to the game. Cheers.

Kind of off topic but then again pretty ok topic as well:
the complaints and haters are getting boring... they are complaining about stuff not even relevant to the game (even though there is enough that would warrant criticism) and when they are out of ‚arguments‘ they draw their ‚devs only want our moneys‘ card..

Then it is likely McLean has more public speaking experience, or simply takes to it more naturally than others.
Companies hire PR Managers and Community Leaders because the people who actually create are not expected to have experience presenting. Unless I misunderstand the process of becoming a mod on this forum, MandyTalk and other mods are the perfect example of this--they were hired for their experience with customer support and moderating online discourse.
Just as MandyTalk is not expected to know how to design a game, Ethan is not expected to know how to entertain.
There are benefits to hearing Q&A's directly from the horse's mouth, but it sounds as though you would prefer PR to handle the live streams. If that is the case, you are not wrong for wanting to voice that opinion. ...but you could have done it in a nicer way.

I want actually see how Wraith and Demo are getting actually QoL changes, because yet Pig and Myers was promised to get an update and YET they didn't get anything. Empty promises and nothing else.

AND let's don't forget about Legion, some of the worst killers in dbd, that is the most easy to loop in the game AND yet they don't get any update or QoL changes for they kit. Amazing GAME DESIGNER. 👏

i get that you are not happy with the state of the game and that’s your right. There are many bugs and issues, including imbalance, matchmaking etc.
BUT you are searching for stuff about the devs and their statements you can complain about, that’s not a healthy attitude and this kind of feedback doesn’t help anyone.

you said they were making promises about Pig and Shape but they actually said they would like to review those chars including others. There were no promises made. And everything else that they mentioned in that post was literally worked on.
there are actual problems that warrant constructive criticism and even complaints. But you are literally making up stuff to make the devs look bad.
