People should never be punished for playing

Imo take the disconnect penalty out. Never punish your player base for not wanting to play the game. If people are upset they shouldn't be forced to finish. Pay those that stay for their time and move on. We pay for a game we should never be locked out of our product. Unless you threaten peoples lives or things ike that.

DC Penalties r just there to annoy. I'm not gonna stay to play against that facecamping Hag just cuz if I leave I get a 15 minute penalty in which I can just switch to overwatch lol

If a hag is facecamping, (which does suck, but I digress,) just suicide on hook. There's no penalty, you get BP, killer gets BP, everyone wins.

The problem with DCs is that it's usually done out of spite. A survivor or killer gets upset by one facet of a match and takes it out on others. As a killer main, I have never once DCed, no matter how toxic the survivors were. People have DCed for so many stupid things while facing me:

    I closed the hatch.

    I found them first.

I pulled off a sick mindgame.

    I found their hiding place.

I was about to hook for the 3rd time.

I was running Franklin's and caused them to lose their key.

    I played a certain killer.

    I used a certain perk.

Ive only ragequit once. And it was killer downed all 3 of us (4th was dead) and then they just stood there staring at us while we bled out on the ground. No time for that.

When i play killer, i main doctor and id say probably one in four matches someone ragequits as soon as i use my aoe lol

You ruined the game for 3 other survivors. So yeah, you deserve it.

Everyone saying that the dc penalty is good just hasn't played since the latest chapter.

Just got stuck in the ground, had to wait until end of the match.

You can't defend the penalty. Every point you have isn't as strong as the bugs in the game.

That isn't a penalty problem, that's an in game problem.

I can agree that may survivors are crybabies. I've seen people just DC cuz we got Léry's or because I was playing Plague just as I infect someone else. But that's not a problem for me, if a survivor decides to die they're abandoning their teammates and that's their own problem. From my part, I'm also a crybaby but I only DC whenever I'm playing against Hag. It's also a bit annoying when u DC cuz ur wifi died

I am new (I've had the game about a month now). The day of the update, I experienced my first disconnect and punishment. I was so confused what was going on. I've never quit a match no matter what. I play survivor 98% of the time, though I'm starting to learn killer. I googled and found out that I was being punished.

I was running toward a hooked survivor to try to rescue them when BAM! Disconnected. My computer and internet are fine. I even checked multiple ways for latency issues etc. That disconnect was not my fault.

This punishment had an one time disconnect consequence for DB. I was just about to buy all the DLC for myself, my husband and our three sons. Now I am hesitating. My google search lead to forum posts in which people talked about being punished for long periods of time. Whether or not the disconnects for those people were their own issues, this makes me nervous. I don't know if I want to spend this much money with the potential of being locked out of play due to absolutely nothing I've done.

Maybe disconnect time-outs need to be a thing for people who are disconnecting a lot. But, a one or two time disconnect...

by loading into the lobby you want to play the game so that argument is moot

fun fact: if you play the game, you wont be punished.

the punishment only comes in when you decide that you, despite being in a game right now, no longer wish to play it and quit early.

you do understand that this is a MULTIPLAYER game, right?

just because you dont like something, doesnt mean that you have the right to ruin the experience of four other players.

If you disconnect, you are not playing. So you get punished for NOT playing. Which is the opposite of your title.

The DC penalty doesn't punish players for playing. It punishes them for not playing and leaving.

You should probably read the fine print when you sign up for things, you don't have the rights you think you do.

Also, the DC penalty should stay (well, not for this patch, on account of how many gamebreaking bugs there are like getting permanently stuck) because otherwise people would quit whenever they have a bad game, which results in a bad game for the other 4 people left in the trial. You gotta remember: You're not the only human. Those people's experiences matter too.

Nobody's being punished for playing. Arguably, the DC penalty is punishing you for not playing.

You might want to read what I wrote.

I was punished for 15 mins. I do not disconnect from games. I do not quit. Not one single time have I quit a match. I was actively playing, running toward a survivor to try to rescue them from the hook and was suddenly disconnected. This was the day the new content released.

How was that punishment deserved? Please explain the logic behind that. How does an one time disconnect 15 minute punishment help? I can see the need for punishing multiple disconnects but one time is excessive imo.

The disconnect penalty isn't there to punish people for playing, it's there to punish people who decide they don't want to play after making the commitment to four other people. It's there to punish them for wasting those other people's time, and probably throwing the match for them.

The problem wouldn't be that big of a problem if the penalty was gone.

Just as I said. There is no valid point in defending the penalty.

Baso you're a bigot and don't want to hear arguments, ok 👍️

What you said is straight up not an argument. You said that's the games fault. - Okay. But that doesn't explain #########. And that also doesn't help #########.

It doesn't change the fact that the problem would be way smaller if the penalty was gone.

They shouldnt have to have a DC penalty, but with how incredibly frustrating the game is to play I get why. Maybe some of that frustration should be alleviated? All of my frustration is with bugs that get me downed as survivor or swings that seemingly pass through survivors on killer. That's not even counting camping or tunneling which should have mechanics added to make it impossible. It would just be much healthier for both sides.

Imo a game with crashes and bugs should not have penalty.

Not all of us DC ... a lot got crashes and bugs.

I think perks like Borrowed Time should be automatic to prevent tunneling, and there shouldbe penalties, or even losing points, for how close a killer stays near the hook after hooking someone. Just like survivors need to a balanced game or they de-pip, so do killers.

The disconnect penalty isn't punishing you for playing. It is punishing you for NOT playing.

This is a team based game, if anything i think it should be harsher. Every other online multiplayer game that is team based actually suspends you from the game if you leave too much.

I get your point but I was in a game not too long ago with a friend and two other team mates who decided to DC because the killer who was the nurse got to them before us, near the end of the game it was just be and my friends needing to get 4 gens and the killer was camping all of them every 5 minutes

I have only 'ragequit' as killer three times, all in the past patch, and all because a major bug ruined the game for me, instead of anything the survivors did. Weird latency things with hit confirmation, Viktor being stuck sideways, or, in one case, Viktor hit someone's back like he was a sliding Blight; just floated there until the survivor ran further away.

It has been worse in the last patch, but prior to that, legitimate DCs for me were extremely rare. However, prior to the DC penalty, there would be a 'disconnect' every match. Sometimes 2-3. The penalty occasionally happening on a crash is worth it not happening most of the time. Also, 15 minutes? The base penalty is 5 minutes.
