Why does facecamping have almost no counter?

If a Killer is hardcore facecamping, there are very few ways to do anything about it. There's Leader, Desperate Measures, Deliverance+Decisive Strike+Unbreakable, letting a teammate get grabbed or just letting a teammate die.

Borrowed time & teamwork. My swf group does it often. Someone runs in and bodyblocks to take a hit while another unhooks and we're outta there.

I don't remember this being implemented at all. I've played since the game came out and this was never added or if it was it was immediately removed. The thing they changed to help with facecamping was unhook angles as you used to only be able to unhook from the way the hook was facing. They also increased the time on hook from 45 to 60 seconds per stage a while ago to also combat that. There is a perk that stops hook timer but no one uses it because it's not always relevant.

The only viable counter is to gen rush. But in solo queue, your teammates probably aren't going to be doing gens so.....

Um there is it's called just do gens, if everyone focuses on gens then you can slam all three while the killer face camps I'm tired of people crying and complaining about something that doesn't work if you use a little bit of game sense and are okay with sacrificing a teammate for the whole instead of getting everyone killed because you wanted to be altruistic.

Well, there is a base game mechanic that counters it. That's why you can now unhook from any angle, and as a consequence, "face camping" no longer actually exists. At the time, before the unhook from any angle, the killer could literally prevent the unhook prompt from even appearing to Survivors, by standing right up against them.

As for all the other camping, the OP forgot borrowed time, which is super handy.

As for non-perk measure, you can use teamwork to engineer an escape vs just about any killer (obviously Bubba is an issue for that), or you use teamwork and practically guarantee a survivor win by 3 escape.

The game has always had a blurb in the promo - "Survive together, or don't."

If a killer is camping and you don't feel capable of accomplishing a save... then just go ahead and win, there's always another match around the corner.

Kindred and BT + if the killer does this, he/she don't rank up because of the low amount of points that he/she will get.

Aside from that, ideally a gen should be down for the first hook, so during the hook time of that survivor the others 3 should be able to repair the others, if u lose against a face camper killer, either you or your teammates are really bad.

    Borrowed time is a thing.

Though you're gonna a need a LOT of luck if its a Leatherface face camping. Otherwise sorry you're doomed.

Borrowed Time perk and Dead Hard for the one unhooking, along with Deliverance for the unhooking hooker

or justd o gens like the other guy said, unless you'd be the only one doing gens then it would be pointless and you'll know it's a hatch match

It never made it past the public beta testing phase because people abused it so heavily. It was a thing, but it was never put into the full game.

This camping hurts the killer more then helps him can’t stand people crying about camping just do dam gens. And save ur mate later no need to rush in and be stupid

Theres a whole thread about this that sums it up better, but it comes down to game design. Facecamping shouldnt be punished, the game should be designed in such a way it is more fun for killers and survivors

Because it does have counters? Actually only facecamping completely throws the game for Killer. Have you considered that you should be playing better instead of always blaming the Killer?

    How about do gens

  • vintageethot
    vintageethot Member Posts: 6

just do the gens if youre not on the hook and get out, the killer is literally losing their games if they facecamp. dont ######### on hook quickly, and if your team are competent, you just got the rest of your team to escape.

True, but killers can´t even spent perk slots to cover unbalanced and unfun gameplay like swf.

And thats even worse, because camping usually loses the game for the killer, while being an swf usual wins the game for the swf.

I don't know what you're talkin about every time I try to FaceCamp for my last kill it never works grabs are trash so people just walk up right in my face and unhook. yesterday I tried to Camp during the end game went halfway through the grab animation and then made me swing. They got away

Just deal with it unless you are low ranks facecamping is more or less non existent. I have played probably more than 2-300 games since the last time I was facecamped it is super rare.

    I agree with you OP.

Facecamping should have an automatic downside.

For instance, I often hear “just do gens” as if that actually fixes the issue right? There should still be a downside. As in... if ALL other survivors are repairing gens and the killer is just hovering around the hook the timer on struggle should slow down too.

For sure. I was more thinking of this scenario in the endgame. We go open door then do this

The counter is to do gens and save at the last moment and trade

Then just leave when all the gens are done leaving the one on the hook in case of noed. 3 survivors escaping is a victory for survivors. Stop thinking everybody has to escape

I don’t think it was implemented but it was talked about.

I believe they may have tested it on the PTB, or even just internally(I forget), but found it was being easily abused so they implemented that useless emblem thing that removes points if you are within x distance of the hook for however long, unless you are in a chase.

My teammate doesn't get to play the game and is doomed to die in their first hook when plenty of gens are to be done. This is a loss to me, since the goal is to have fun, everyone included.

BT is bypassed by a lot of killers, or by a killer that's patient. Coordinated saves need to be swf really. So there's no counterplay to hard facecamping beyond killer's error.

I'm unsure how this is fine. This just creates more toxic survivors that can and will make the game far more miserable for the killer later on. Then killers will facecamp in retaliation, etc. Usually they'll do this to actually decent players, converting them into another jackoff.

This is exactly why this game will stop growing and people will just quit the game as soon as they start playing. You’ve just started playing a game with a new concept compared to all other games and are excited to play. You go into 2 games and get facecamped or tunnelled. You think ######### is this ######### game I can’t even do anything so I’m gonna quit playing. But no it’s the survivors playing stupid, there’s plenty of counters etc. If a competent killer camps or tunnels there’s nothing you can do

hey!!! funny that you even point out that there are counters... lets ask why does DS have no counter at all? and before you get into "leave them slugged" or "don't tunnel" i'm talking the perk itself not when it happens.. please show me something that actually counters DS what so ever.

Now to your point there is more counters and here is one. get two healthy survivors and one comes in and gets the killer to swing by distracting them, (or turn their back) and then the other yoinks the hookee off with BT to keep the killer from recovering and downing the previous hookee. Add that strat to your hardly has a counter...

So a killer doing their Objective is bad??

  • Freki
    Freki Member Posts: 1,903

it's not bad, just survivors find it not fun, and honestly unless you have certain things you would, as killer, be better served not to face camp someone and move and engage others. with 4 survivors you have one on hook, one being chased by you, one on a gen and one rescuing. this slows gen progress and gives you a chance to hold pressure on the suvivors

You can't make a system that fixes the camping problem, that good players wouldn't abuse when full diving a hook to save their friend before the killer has a chance to leave.

And that is most of my "Your camping cases". I literally didn't get to leave cause someone was either chasing me, I saw them coming as I went to leave, or I ran into someone nearby.

Killers do lose points on the chaser emblem if they are to close to a hooked survivor, but if they are just in it to be an arse, then they don't care.

I believe most people don't camp on purpose, but there is no fix all that won't break the balance that we do have going.
