Unpopular Opinion
I mostly main survivor, so my fellow survivor mains, hear me out. I used to think the opposite but my opinion has changed.
Tunneling/Camping isn't as bad as people think.
Is it a strategy? Yes, although a sucky one, it gets the job done. Killers have to kill the survivor. It's the same with rushing gens. Crappy strategy, but it helps you to survive, and you may or may not get punished by NOED for not working Totems.
Camping, yes it's annoying, but it allows your teammates to get gens done. You may pip/rank down, but ranks are a complete joke right now, and don't determine your actual skill. Not only that some (not all, I am not grouping all killers together) killers use this as a way to rank up, or to punish a toxic survivor. So if you get tunneled or camped ask yourself if you were toxic.
If you were, you deserve it, if you weren't, just tell yourself "ignore it and move on to the next game". If you are in solo queue and your teammate wants to play hero and rescue you without BT, that's on them, not you. If you're doing SWF and they still rescue you without BT, that's on both of you because you didn't say, "Don't rescue me, pressure a gen, we got time." That's what communication is for. If you can run a killer, different story, but if not, then my point stands.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
TL;DR - Camping and Tunneling does suck, but just ignore it and move on to the next game. It's the killer's job to kill, and the survivor's job to survive.

Ah yes, "Ignore it and move on to the next game". How genius.
Truly, the quote of the year. This is exactly how to fix problems in the game.

I think people who are mad at tunnelers and campers sometimes get mixed up with people who are mad about it for bming. Camping/tunneling a guy with a key or object is a strat, but doing it solely to make them mad/annoyed is where the complaint is valid.

I didn't say it was perfect, but it's true, why disconnect, yeah it doesn't affect you much, but it's a team game in the end, take one for the team. It's what I learned to do, other people can too.

Exactly, if a Ghostface for example teabagged while you were on hook, that's BMing. If they Kebab, that's BMing. But if they are tunneling because you have a key/map as survivor. Or because they wanna get you out of the game because you can run them, then yes, I don't consider it a problem. But in game chat or messaging you after the game calling you garbage, that's a different story.

You need a clear definition for tunneling.
Is it:
- The killer focussed on one survivor the whole game and ignored everything else or
- "I selfcared under the hook and the killer found me again, trash tunneler :(((("
Bonuspoints if a survivor tanks a hit with BT after getting unhooked and complains about tunneling. Stop making yourself a target.

Thank you for your addition on what I forgot to add, I don't usually do this when I encounter a tunneling killer, so I forgot to add this. I appreciate it 👍

Theres a lot that can be done to reward killers for switching targets or to punish killers for tunneling one person, for example chase speed, wiggle speed/strength, maybe if somebody has been hooked twice in a row it takes two hits to put them in the dying state for a third time, etc.
Problem is, there would have to be nerfs to survivors to compensate, and people will lose their goddamn minds. Not to mention the entire concept of the survivors working together only to benefit themselves throws a huge monkey wrench into the balance. Sometimes a game, AS A SURVIVOR, is a 1v4. Which is very interesting, but complicated.

People just need to act more considerate to the other side when playing either role. You're just a dick if you're going to tunnel or camp when it's the choice that is the least impactful.

As a survivor main, I can admit, we need nerfs. We have a lot of things that can be considered overpowered within the game. Also we have some game breaking things as well. But I don't wanna turn this into a survivor vs. killer thread.

As others have stated before within the comments, there can be some legitimate reasons someone may camp or tunnel, such as that survivor having a map and or key. Or they might have OoO and want to take them out as soon as possible just in case they are in a survive with friends group, that way they cannot relay information to their teammates.
It's like the gen rush situation survivors may not like the killer they are currently playing against within that game, so they choose to gen rush. Or, when Moris were still a bit of an issue, it would be because the killer had a Mori.

I'm a survivor main too, and I want killers to be strong and robust so people play them, ALL of them, not just ones that are particularly good at the moment. I play survivor cause I like to be chased and being sneaky and paranoid, thats what gets me off. So I want people to have fun as killer, I don't want them to feel frustrated and unhappy. I get very excited when I see clever killers, its something to behold.
