Sad realization from reflection

So I had a pretty perfect game. No tunneling or camping and I got REALLY consistent downs as spirit on torment creek and this ash kept trying to get MoM and I even phased in front of him and downed the girl he protected and yeah. So I got pop, thrilling, corrupt and some other perk I don't even remember, but I almost lost because they started playing more cautious and so I popped a half gen, main building at zero and I popped a 75 or 85 gen and chased a guy for like a minute as they saved and healed someone and even then I dont think it was a full minute and due to spirit being 4.4 he got away with really dumb plays and it pissed me off, because I didnt tunnel and didn't slug I was punished for a bad chase that I was too slow on to actually punish the survivors bad pathing.
And the sad realization is that if you cant get consistent downs 100 percent you have to tunnel or slug to win because they had TWO prove thyself and the guy I chased had adrenaline so I went to the the door cut my losses because every One else was worse than him and eventually slugged my way to a 3k punishing altruism. The ash was decent but made plays that a 4.6 would beat him for and the girl who escaped wasted pallets at end game with flashlights meaning I couldnt really catch her. Those 2 people actually made me waste time.
Idk I was glad I got a 3k by making proper decisions at the endgame but im upset that I HAD to. Hell maybe if I used my ability more in those 2 troublesome chases id be fine but holy hell if I didnt realize how much you need to rely on your power as a 4.4 and to rely on distasteful tactics to beat gen speed. I mean I dont have much practice with spirit and I still am not the best at pinpointing with my headset but it really makes you feel hopeless.
Thanks for listening to my ted talk and you can leave all the insults below with a "P.S. I love you Komodo16!" ;)

See slugging is fine, the problem is that we call forth 2 different scenarios with one word.
If you down a survivor and instandly see another then often its better to leave the one survivor slugged and go for the other because some other survivor is bound to run to them to get them up which is time not spend on gens so thats good for you, thats just playing the game really.
the other slugging is a killer who never hooks anyone and just downs survivor after survivor and maybe in the end if they are all down just waits for everyone to bleed out, both called slugging but very different things all together.

If you are not willing to camp, you are not willing to tunnel. If you are not willing to tunnel, you are not willing to slug. That means you are just a basic killer who picks people up and hooks them which creates no pressure whatsoever.
Half these survivor mains don't ever play killer and if they did they would be terrible at it following their own rulebook. I can't imagine seeing an injured survivor and thinking "Oh oh, I can't go after him, that would be tunneling, tunneling is bad....I need to go after the fully healthy guy who hasn't been hooked yet. I need to give the survivors 10 million second chances so I can get 4 man outed"
The only people who follow that junk are streamers who get paid to play the game

spirit too hard surv op, understood.
flaming aside, nothing wrong with proxying/slugging/tunneling, its optimal in some situations, dumb "honor" rules dont get you anywhere🤷♂️

I think some slugging is fine but if that's your entire match philosophy from the start then...I guess that's fine too but I think that's pretty boring for everyone on both side. As a Killer I would say I play nearly the same as you except I switch up gears by the end when I'm noticing I should take the match a bit more seriously since everyone seems to be on communication and actually coordinated.

Yes you do have to rely on your power a lot as a 4.4 and should be using it in chase pretty much whenever you can. Don't even phase for the full duration as spirit unless you're just travelling to another part of the map, short bursts get you it back even quicker. Chases as spirit shouldn't be lasting long at all unless the survivor is pretty clever & has iron will.

Yh i dont think you have a chance against decent survivor, when you just hook everyone.
It is not fair that survivor can do a lot more mistakes then killer and still win, but you shouldnt be pissed that you wasted time on this chase.
You did the mistake. Spirit is strong enough to compensate the slow movement speed. You were punished bc you played spirit wrong. Dont get me wrong the game is hard against decent survivor, but instead of complaining about 4.4 spirit, you should recognise that you did a huge mistake and learn from it.
You are right that you need fast chases and its insane that you need to keep this up the entire game, but with spirit you had the tools for it.

Beating prove thyself is all about keeping the one with it off gens. Whether this be with slugging is up to you.

Dude, if you are chasing with Spirit, and not using her power, you're doing it wrong.
She is like 176% speed in phase. Use that in short bursts to end chases and get hits quickly.
You should rarely get bloodlust as Spirit. Maybe if you have two dead and time to kill, but use her power, make predictions and you will get better at ending these chases.
And,, sometimes, you just get outplayed.

Exactly 176%

Mate, game is not designed to get 12 hooks against really good players, camp, tunnel, slug, do whatever you want to do, they would do the same if they could.

On a personal level, as a survivor the best thing you do to avoid getting salty after matches is dissociate winning and escaping. I try to have fun, but sometimes SQ gets the best of me. So when I rarely play killer, I try to have fun unless i am going for a challenge that requires me to kill everyone. So I kinda stopped thinking about how many kills I have by the end of the game and focus on how many hooks I had by the duration of the match and how enjoyable it was.
If you really want to better yourself, record your matches and watch them after. Ask yourself what you could've done differently or discuss with other people. Even some survivors in the after match chat can provide you advice. Have fun :)

Not a TED talk but ok hahahaha
I don't really have any problems with slugging (I mean, strategically), because it can be counterplayed by smart decisions from the survivors and it can give the killer needed pressure if done right.
As for the power, I think the point of 4.4 killers is that their powers are really powerful, so I also do think there should be punishment for not using it right (high power, high penality). I think all powerful killers need to have a skill cap like that, because otherwise it's a slaughter. But anyway, if you made right decisions too and had a great game, that's what should matter the most. I even have fun with nurse missing 80% of her blinks hahaha

Umm don't call me a ######### killer on MY thread. I like to play fair and push myself to my limits. I never think of doing it til end game and only rarely do I have to. And you insulted me without the "P.S. I love you Komodo16" message.

I love you too :)

Yeah the ash had iron will and I did good predictions but because I didn't use short burst he got me. But due to the activation speed he would get windows so I assumed chasing was best

Actually I've actively gone after the person who was trying to bait me away, or getting the other person off the hook simply because its #########. Have I broken this rule yes, but most the time and I'm talking 90% I dont need to. Why??? Because I'm good enough to kill all four survivors without resorting to using trash tactics. Idk I think as a person playing the killer you should try playing as legit as possible. As killer your already quicker and faster. You shouldnt have to use slugging, body camping, body baiting, and tunneling which are all very cheap and easy to do to get a W. The problem is there is no punishment for the killer who uses these ######### tactics. No real loss in blood points because if you do these things you win in the end anyway and recoup blood points you lost by being cheap anyway, and get rewarded with pipping up. As survivor you just get screwed by the killer and by this game simply because of the way it's designed. Its designed so everything is in the killers favor and the survivor get screwed in every which way possible. I just dont get how anyone playing killers can act like they have it bad. Like they need the games to be handed to them, like survivors should just line up in front of them to die. That's just how it seems with people on here but what do I know.

Idk you kinda just solved your own issue at the end of your post here. "Maybe if I had used my abilities more on the two troublemakers and how you havent played the spirit much, and not good at pin pointing with headset." Do you honestly feel you should be able to start using any killer you wish without any practice and just own all the survivors??? Let's be honest here. Tunneling, body camping, slugging, and body baiting are crutch tactics to cheaply steal a victory away from survivors because the killer is lacking. Though it's not really the players fault as the dev's allow this poor game play to persist in the game without any negative effects to the killer what so ever. The game rewards killer for being cheap, and punishes survivors simply for being survivors.

Ok this strikes a chord with me because I have a similar playstyle. Basically I try my best to let everyone have fun. That being said, I learned long time ago that I play by my own rulebook and it all depends on the scenario. If they're getting trashed or there's a rage quit I usually will tone it down so the game doesn't end in 5 min, give hatch, let them farm etc. Against decent players I'll slug if I have to. There's literally no reason not to since I know I'm going against good players so they WILL get picked up. It's not like they're going to spend the whole game on the floor till they bleed out. Now if I'm going against a strong/toxic swf then I'm gonna go all in and in those games it's usually no mercy. If they BM so do I if I feel like it.
Notice that these are my own decisions and if a chill game turns a bit harder and I'm feeling competitive I may just decide to slug all 4 of them dingdongs. Whatever the case even though I want everyone to have fun that includes myself so priorities. I play nice but because I want to no because of some BS code of honor. I mean it's a fuxxing videogame.
Now I think you maybe a bit confused. A 3k against a good team is a pretty good outcome and you shouldn't expect to always kill everyone. You figured out what you did wrong so next time drop chases earlier. Also many times even if I do everything "by the survivor book" they'll still call you a camper/tunneler, etc so yeah, you can't please everyone if I tunnel it's my ######### problem.

I'm not bad and I got CONSISTENT downs and made great choices and plays but two mistakes got me. I didn't use cheap tactics except slugging at end game to punish their bodyblocking. I have maybe 20 games with her or 30 and have easily coasted90 percent of my games because she is easy. I'm not the best but I know I am at least somewhat good as I never usually have to resort to those tactics. And I wasnt asking for help because I know what I can do to be better its No re of whether I actually do it when pressuted and the point of this article or thread is my realization that 12 hooking fairly is not always gonna be a choice.

Yeah a 3k from slugging at end game. One was solo because I had them match before. Others who knows they didn't seem coordinated but there was 2 prove thyselves. So I'm assuming there was at least a duo and my chases were all 30 seconds or less except for two and I stopped each one. My issue was not relying on my power better and lack of how to use it at top level. I would say I do good for someone with limited experience but I don't strive to do good I want to be perfect. That's why I hate resorting to tactics like that even when I KNEW I should slug. Maybe thats just my pride but its just the way I wanna play but im going to aim to listen to my gut feelings more.

I hear ya. But honestly I just tried clown for the first time. 1 Lvl 1 perk no add on no offering. Killed 3 of 4 easy and never felt pressured to be cheap and i had opportunities to do so. Then i just played as the demogorgan with only 1 lvl 1 perk and killed two fairly quick with 3 gens to go. I downed the other two and let them back up to finish the other 3 as i hit and stalked them and broke pallets and doors to up my points. Then killed the one and let the other open the door before i killed him... Seriously it's so easy to play killer it's boring.
