Hatch Closure

As a survivor and I am on the hatch and it says "jump through hatch" and my character starts the animation I should be able to escape. But no a killer can come up mid animation and just slam it shut. Like ######### is this behavior? Killers can also body block the the action button but a survivor can't...? @Peanits

    They have priority.

My most satisfying hatch escapes are the ones where the killer is already on the hatch when it about to open, and when I contest it, they panic and hit me instead of keeping their cool and closing it first. If they mess up and hit me it leaves an opening to escape during their cool down.

Survivors can also body block the hatch, trust me, it happens to me a lot.

EGC in general is in favor of The Killer. I don't think the developer sought to make it that way but it just is. Have they ever released the stats for each killer and the last survivor during the collapse? The one thing that surprised me was that they can close the hatch from any angle. I thought they would be limited to just closing it from the front and slamming it down and was surprised when the first time I interacted with it the killer could close it from behind.

The reason I hate the hatch so much is because is't not killer or survivor sided, it's just complete RNG. Same with the gate spawns, some times they're across the map from each other and are survivor sided, or sometimes they're two feet apart and are killer sided.

If the killer has managed to kill 3 other survivors before the gens got done and they found the hatch as it opened they should get that 4th kill. I mean they were kinda crushing you to get to that point. At least we don't have those horrendous hatch stand offs anymore.

Unless you know the killer can't make it to you, don't camp the hatch.

One time I was being a douche against a freddy and sat on the hatch on top of a hill thinking I had a grand view of the map watching him move around looking for it for a couple or few minutes (one of the old yamaoka variants iirc) when out of the blue as I was crouched waiting to spam tbag and escape it suddenly closed and ole iron willie and I were smacked down like WWE. needless to say I immediately alt+f4. But I deserved that LUL

  • Tbh my problems with hatch are more with the key, and undeserved people sandbagging their team to get it (Or doing nothing for the entire end of the game waiting for people to die). Also getting repeatedly slugged by a killer for like 5+ minutes because they REFUSE to risk losing a 4k, I don't blame them, but it still sucks I would rather give up the hatch and just die so I can get another game. Queue times are long enough as is.

Still though, I like the idea of some hope if your team sucks, there is a reason for you to at least keep playing. Something to people you invested. I want a hatch rework, hell hatch should only spawn when all 5 generators are done or there is one survivor left alive; that would make keys not BS anymore either, it would bring them to the same level as a mori in terms of functionality as well where you have to finish your objective but it gives you a little extra alternative way to end it, a slight boost but nothing game breaking.

Boy, in the past killers could grab you as you were jumping through the hatch. They removed that feature and just gave them priority when closing the hatch.

Man, have you ever been pulled out while jumping in the hatch? I have. Survivors cried so much they removed the feature.

But honestly, hatch favors the survivor side. There is no reason to be complaining.

and you would rather have old hatch stand offs, right

The killer should definitely take priority here. However if you find it first and stand on it I believe you can body block the killer. I've had survivors stand on the edge of it nearest to me and try to bait a hit and I still can't move around them fast enough to close it sometimes. The killer still can't push you off (for some reason killers can't ever move a single person 1/5th their size lol).

if you're on the right killers and they're being too cocky you might able to get it from behind them which has happened to me once lol

I never have any issues with the hatch. I'm always trying to finish the gen while my teammates are camping it so it's closed immediately when they die. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I only ever get the precise opposite - as killer, I close the hatch only for the animation to get interrupted as the survivor yeets out. Haven't once been interrupted as a survivor, though that could just be the rarity of being in hatch situations.

Or an immersed Survivor that you cannot find could take your game hostage for however long because there is no hatch and therefore no way to start the EGC.

    Hatch will never be removed.
