No its just for the sake of the cosmetics but is not cannon. I don't think you can ever take cosmetics as cannon with the lore.

But doesn't it state that clothes belongED to Vigo's apprentice. Sometimes they find cosmetics somehow, like with the 80s outfits.

Someone who learns from someone. Student under Vigo. Which I feel like these might refer to a timeline where they were. Story feels like this guy learned from him and became evil seems like.0

Claudette from that timeline and different reality met Vigo and became his apprentice.Atleast that's how it works according to the devs, and is the reason why you can see more than 1 Claudette.
They said that seeing multiple Claudette's is just a game mechanic

Actually Dwight is the one who became his apprentice. It says so on his outfit, Claudette is the one who became his pupil. Which is like a student below apprentice or something.

Yeah, but those aren’t. If you couldn’t tell by the style of the clothes, those are relatively old. They couldn’t be theirs- I think the canon items would be other items you start out with. also i think some items of the nurse are cannon. she could try to get married again in her past... alas it was a failed attempt to do that.

I like to theorize both claudette and dwight were indirectly Vigo's apprentices in that they read his journals much like Benedict. Of course, its just for cosmetic potential, but still.
