Solo queue as survivor is a nightmare!
Let me start by saying that I agree that a SWF team is almost impossible to play against as the killer, it is true that if played optimally survivors have the upper hand due to how the game mechanics work, but playing solo queue is completely different, playing solo queue is almost the exact opposite of ''playing optimally'' I'd even say that solo queue gives the killer the upper hand (not due to game mechanics but due to the community itself) theres like 10 different barriers you have to go trough to even get a fair match.
To start off you have to trust the matchmaking AI will pair you up with/against players of your same skill (which is often not the case since matchmaking sucks! I was going up against purple and sometimes even red ranked killers when I was barely rank 16 playing with 1 or 2 basic perks) I am rank 9 now for survivor and rank 13 killer.
You also have to trust that you will not get paired with a troll who will ruin the game from the start (I had lots of matches with troll team mates that will follow me to a generator just to blow it every time to lose progress on purpose) or with the rage quitter who disconnects as soon as he gets downed the very first time.
You also have to get paired with people who know what they are doing, most solo queue survivors don't cleanse totems and they usually don't give a hoot about how gens are distributed around the map, they do whatever gen they first come across and most of solo queue matches you end up getting 3 gen'd and makes it very hard to escape, especially if the team is down 1 or 2 survivors. At least 7 out of 10 games that I play have at least 1 of the people I mentioned and makes solo queue feel like it's a nightmare to play survivor.
I know there is probably nothing we can do about a bad team mate (hopefully they will learn the game and get better) but why can't we have harsher punishments for trolls and rage quitters?

Have to disagree solo survivor is probably the best way to enjoy the game apart from a properly matched killer.

Nah don't worry about it, you will get better eventually and will hold your own as solo.
I also play solo but I don't care about escaping, I love to get chased more than escaping.
And even then I escape most of the time.
I would even sacrifice myself if it means the others get out.
When you get to reds it barely happens that you get 3 gened cause most know that it sucks.
But even when it does happen, they know how to push and aren't scared when the killer comes.

With solo queue, you never know what you're going to get. Honestly though, I used to play with my boyfriend (before he boycotted the game due to toxicity), but now I only play by myself and I do so much better. I used to die every time when I played with him and I stayed around rank 12. Now I got all the way to rank 2. SWF doesn't automatically mean the group will be good, because you have to coordinate really well. It is annoying when the 3 teammates who are obviously SWF (like having matching usernames) don't want to help you out. I ran into that many times where they pretend I don't exist and let me die on first hook while I have kindred

Maybe at rank 20 as a rank 20 survivor, not when you're red ranks and keep getting rank 10+ as team mates who go down in 2 seconds and then dc

Use SOLOQ to learn.
Don't bother to survive or die.
Thanks me latter.

To be fair I have had red ranks diconnect on their first down too...

it's way more rare though, and at least those usually don't go down in 2 seconds.

I wanted to come in here and say it isn't that bad, but when I think about it, it really, really is. Do what I do and run plunderers for the chance to get a key and leave your potato teammates if you have to.

Agree to diagree on that one, last 2 matches 2 people rage quit when they went down the first time and left 2 of us with 5 gens, one of the killers even allowed us to escape because he felt bad for us, I feel so much better playing killer knowing that I don't rely on someone else to win and diconnects/rage quitters/trolls/bad teammates work in my favor and not against me... not only that but BP grinding takes longer and queue times are way longer than killer queue times, nothing like waiting in the lobby for 5 minutes to load into a game with a guy who went AFK, the other one killed himself on the first hook and not even 3 minutes into the game the match has already lost it's purpose because you know the match is already over, just for you to repeat the same process next match, IDK how is that enjoyable?

Non solo-queue is a nightmare for killers.

I am solo. I'm totally fine. But I rely on keys.

One time when I was solo que nobody was getting me off the hook so I took the chance and it actually worked but then I got downed again and nobody came for me again so I died.

Especially when you're a low rank killer and they play with low rank survivors and like one or two high rank survivors and they just annoy you with flashlights.

Solo queue is the only way that I’ve ever played. If I thought it was a nightmare I would never have gotten into this game.

Solo queue survivor pushed me to never want to play as solo queue survivor and started playing killer more to be honest, at least I play without having to worry about losing a match because I keep getting trolls/AFK/Disconnects/Rage quitters and bad teammates to ruin 7 out of 10 matches but maybe you can count it as a good thing I guess since the killer population seems to be extremely low...
Also if you have never played SWF you don't know how smooth the game feels when you get to play with friends who will never troll or disconnect compared to solo queue where that's really common, once you play most of your matches with people who actually play the game the feeling solo queue gives you of people constatly disconnecting is pretty bad and frustrating...

I haven't played survivor in about a month and im all the better for it
Queue 10+ minutes for your team to DC on first down, no thanks

Yeah, I imagine that games always feel smoother when you cheat. And yes, I consider SWF cheating. If you absolutely have to, SWF without mics, but nobody ever does that.
The game is designed around the idea of random strangers getting thrown together and forced to work together despite personality differences. Some will work together, others won’t, just like in the movies. In Night of the Living Dead for example, Romero could have had everybody work together and not included the character of Mr. Cooper. But the film would have been a lot less interesting.

Playing swf isn't cheating, if it was...adding players to your friend list to play with them would be removed and random queues would be the norm obviously devs don't agree with you on what is cheating or not.

As I said, I’m talking about the use of mics. The standard way people use swf is definitely cheating.
0 -
Is there a rule here somewhere that say it is? devs pretty much get to decide what cheating is...if they say so then so be it but until then it's not...

This is what is appealing to me about solo survivor, I'm not guaranteed to escape. I have to decide if my survival is priority over others survival as the game progresses.
The issue seems to be that everyone feels like they should always escape.
DCs screw up solo survivor.

There’s no in game microphone. Pretty much says it all. The only reason they allow it is because they can’t do a thing about it.

I just read the rules and says communications are not bannable and in game reports will not be taken into consideration for that.
1 -
Lol. Yeah, I know. As I said, they allow it because they can’t do anything about it. I’m getting a little tired of having to repeat myself to you. The devs have never kept it a secret that they would prefer that people not use mics.

My best advice is focus on improving your gameplay instead of surviving. I play solo and you will go crazy if your goal is to survive, because you can't control that. If your standard is to play well, learn something, or get better you'll be far more in control.
Also, I would always recommend bringing 'Kindred', otherwise solo survivors just assume someone else will save you.
