How do you escape an Oni?

I’d just like some tips against how to get away from him, because he can track blood orbs directly to you so his tracking is insane, especially with sloppy and nurses

Don't get injured. Oni is the weakest killer as he has no power to work with at all. just drop pallets, don't greed or risk anything. No power = free win. If he gets his power hug killershack, main building and TL walls

    Don't bleed.

Yui's perk Lucky Break will achieve this.

This isn’t as helpful as you think. Pretty much every survivor has a good idea that getting injured against any killer is bad, and should try and avoid it.

What the OP is asking IF he’s injured during a chase, and is unable to heal/be healed, THEN what should they do?

Ok let's see your video at red ranks running an Oni for an entire match without getting touched, ya know since "don't get injured" is your answer you must have a thousand clips of this

Delay the first hit as much as you can. Don´t greed the early pallets, its okay to waste a couple.

Jungle Gyms are super safe even when he uses his power (less so with topknot) and most maps have a window or two where he can´t get you no matter what.

Heal far away from the action to make it painful for him (or impossible) to refuel.

If you´re really skilled, abuse his FOV when he Demon strikes to dodge him.

I think the intention was for Lucky Break to prevent blood orbs, and Haemorrhage to produce more blood orbs, but then the devs went “but what if all 4 survivors run Lucky Break or No Mither, then Oni won’t have a power”.

Because, yeah, that’s gonna happen, lol, and oh, because Oni totally doesn’t get instant blood orbs on hit and downs. Yeah, that doesn’t happen.

Your best bet is to run him long enough that he leaves you and focuses on gens, truth be told even if you don't get injured like some are suggesting it doesn't matter because if your team does get injured at all you're gonna have to face his power, the best advice would be to learn to run tiles correctly in a chase and when given the opportunity to reset (like when you and a survivor finish a gen together) take it and heal up to prevent him constantly tracking you, if he focuses on you and doesn't quit he's throwing the game if you can keep the chase going

It's really freaking hard to turn on Oni in his power. Just treat him sort of like Billy where you can sometimes juke the chainsaw with good spins and weird movement in general

By that reasoning then Spine Chill should not work on Ghostface, Pig, Wraith and maybe Myres lol

You don't let him find you in the first place. Stay away from everyone, when someone gets downed, get in a locker to avoid BBQ.

This depends on the Oni player honestly, if he gets his power most Oni players just spam their demon dash, you can counter this by T and L walls as well as the killer shack, a good Oni player though you can't do anything other than just consume as much of his power as you can before you go down. A smart Oni player knows how to counter shack and will just walk at you during a T and L wall to instantly down you instead of dashing around a corner. Best tip is don't greed pallets, throw them down early and prevent him from getting his power, his power is probably the strongest in the game I would put it above even Nurse, it's limited though and that's what you need to abuse to counter him.

  • He can only club you at 90 degrees not 180

So he can't do much about U turns if you U turn around a wall or something.

  • Nothing is above Nurse's power. His is up there, but bypassing all defensive mechanics, walls, and defenses the game provides in an instant trumps any other ability.

The Oni's hit detection for his Demon Strike is a bit wanky. Best bet if he's on you is keep moving in a jungle gym with a window. If the Oni fully charges his overhead Demon Strike it'll collide with the window frame, just pray he's not experienced enough to be able to pull off quick Demon Strikes...

If he's charging towards you, then the locker is your best friend. He'll either club the locker or spend a couple moments slowing down from his dash which should give enough just time to sprint out of the locker past him

Abuse corners if he's dashing, windows are your friends. Avoid giving him his first power so he can't snowball in the beginning. Also, if you need to drop blood (like working on a gen while injured) do it in a place that's inconvenient for him to get.

For Oni its mainly how his early game goes:

If someone can stall the first hit for a min even while throwing multiple pallets you usually win.

However he snowballs hard and punishes people who try to work on generator's while injured(You produce A LOT MORE blood orbs if you interact with objects while injured).

Also don't Tbag him while injured it literally gives him more blood orbs(each time you crouch it drops one blood orb).

Yes he is literally the Anti Tbag killer.

Actually, Oni doesn't get any blood orbs from downing survivors, only from injuring them. You hit a survivor with BT you will get nothing, you down a survivor who is exposed I'm pretty sure you get nothing (will have to check this one).

Edit: I can confirm after a quick game with haunted grounds on Oni, that he in fact does NOT get any blood if the survivor goes from the healthy to downed state.

Be overly altruistic. An Oni is the day your healing build and medkits are put to the test. Heal your teammates as fast as you can and keep them healthy as long as possible. In other words, you role-play as Claudette

My build in case I'm suspicious of an Oni is Pharmacy, We'll Make It, Lithe, and Unbreakable while bringing a yellow or brown medkit. Not a full heal build but pretty good against him. You can also replace Pharmacy with Calm Spirit since most Oni players use Infectious Fright.

So basically at first you want to play incredibly safe. Otherwise, there's no real way to hide your blood orbs, in all honesty.

I will say that as he's one of my mains, it's still not the easiest to tell which direction someone went in through the blood orbs alone, so if you have a perk like Dance With Me, scratchmarks being gone can make it incredibly hard to follow you directly despite the orbs.

Well, you won't get away from an oni if he's able to injure you (can track you through sound, blood pools on the ground AND with blood orbs you are leaving.

However using Iron Will, breaking line of sight and moving on ground with a lot of grass can make it quite a bit more difficult for oni.

If you're the first survivor he's chasing, you want to stay uninjured for as long as possible, because if he doesn't get blood orbs he has no power. That's also why you want to heal against him as much as possible. When in his ability, you have to play loops safer than usual if you want to avoid getting downed. Get into positions where if he's rushing, you dead angle him, because he physically can't turn the corner that hard. And blood orbs can be used to track survivors yes, but for a seconds after being unhooked you leave no blood orbs. It was a safety measure put in by the devs to not allow the Oni to track survivors down fresh off the hook. That's all I got.

Honestly to me after almost 5k hours I still have yet to figure it out.

Stating “do not get injured” isn’t really an answer more like a sign that he needs to be looked at. Anybody knows sometimes first hits are hard to avoid.

Oni is my least favorite killer to go against, add on the fact that 99.9% of them play the same way , he is just a snooze fest for me.

Yeah like who even runs Lucky Break?

Running perks to counter killers should be allowed -- I mean they let Iron Will for Spirit. And you are giving up a perk slot. To verse a killer who you might not even face. Lucky Break is already a craptacular perk it's like taking Calm Spirit just in case you get a Doctor. Who does that?

Avoid being injured get healed asap if he has his power sharp turns and windows are your allies and dont worry about his seeing blood orbs when oni power is active he can't see them

  • Zayn

Use windows in chase, really good Oni's will mindgame with their demon dash so if you feel the one you're going against is competent, fake vaults. Constantly break line of sight in chase so that he has to guess where you went instead of reacting to where you go. He can flick so LOS breaking is your best bet. If you want to hide from him specifically, it's tough but you don't drop orbs when he's in his demon-form so you can use that as the best time to hide. Especially if he isn't already chasing you but overall, it's best to just pre-drop pallets and deny him his power as long as possible. This is why in competitive, Oni isn't chosen as much since you can waste his time and not give him his power by just playing safe.

Lol. Everybody says don’t get injured. I don’t get injured by the Oni. 9/10 times when he hits me I go down.
