I don't know how people have fun as survivor(s), really.

I don't understand how you have fun in this role, with exception to SWF, when red ranks consist of the same four to five killers (Spirit, Freddy, Nurse, Deathslinger, PH) which promote a unfair game play with little to no counter for the survivors, whilst your teammates are borderline useless and offer no altruism for you whilst the killer tunnels, camps, slugs for the Gods and brings ruin/undying on top of it almost every game which becomes oppressive in solo queue.

How? I can't stomach this role outside of a 4-man SWF.

My experience is a little different: I rarely encounter any of those Killers except Freddy and maybe Deathslinger. I also like being chased, so there’s that.

But anyways, is almost every game like that for you? If so, I can understand the frustration, especially if you’re solo.

I don’t think solo que is even meant to be fun sadly, but a good way to go by is to think more about your good matches, if that helps? We all remember our bad ones, but not so much the good ones.

Well that's exactly how I have fun as survivor. I just talk with friends while we all play and chill. If it's a Deathslinger or Pyramid Head or something we don't really care anymore because we're talking about other stuff while we play. There's 0 point concentrating on a chase against these killers because they either don't give a ######### about what you do in the first place (Deathslinger, pyramid Head, Spirit, Nurse), or you're just running them normally but pre-dropping pallets and getting hit from 100 miles away anyway (Freddy. Seriously they need to do something about his awful hitboxes in relation to his actual model. It's the one thing I really hate about him, the rest I don't mind all that much)

I think you are over reacting a little here. My matches at red ranks usually have a good range of killers.

Teammates could be better but it's all randoms so there's no point on taking It seriously.

The rift has helped me have fun if that makes any sense... I seriously find It entertaining doing the challenges.

With friends, it's the only way to have fun, if you came to play solo queue as survivor and have fun you came to the wrong game....

I know this things but i dont get them that frequently in red ranks.

You have fun, when your expectations are not too high. There will be matches where you cant win, but this doesnt mean you cant have fun. Its a welcome surprise when your teammates are useful.

I want to play good, what my teammates do is not my problem.

Another thing is that i dont care what happened in the match when the match is over. (Sometimes i need 5 minutes when i get not rescued for 2 minutes with 3 healthy survivors and a not camping killer)

In a swf it would be most of the time too easy and boring.

I have very mixed experience in Solo Queue.

Yes, sometimes your teammates are garbage but a lot of times people actually know what to do.

It is such a nice feeling playing Solo Queue with an optimal team and every play you make is actually based on skill and not on an unfair communication with your friends.

This gives me the feeling of playing the game how it was designed to be played and these experiences are probably why I still play Solo Queue.

I agree that killer makes a lot more fun but it is also a dozen times more stressful. Sometimes it's just nice to play Survivor.

The problem I have with playing survivor solo in high ranks is really killer etiquette. When you are in red ranks, you know the game. You know it likely took a few minutes to find a match. You know what a SWF looks like. You know Freddy is insanely OP. So when a Freddy finds a survivor in less than 30 seconds, downs them, tunnels them until they die, with 5 gens still left,, thats just poor sportsmanship. To me, its not fun for anyone. We know the game, and you are a red rank killer playing against solo survivor squad and tunneling survivors within the first 2 minutes. When I play killer, I honestly take it to consideration how much fun the survivors are having. If I down someone super quick, I purposely won't tunnel them. If I somehow hook them twice in a minute or so, ill leave them alone for a few minutes. Heck, if I downed them that quickly 2 times, odds are, I am better than them and they don't pose a real threat. Might as well let them have fun and get some points.

That's exactly why I mostly play killer. How can people say it's frustrating? Have they ever tried soloqueue?

At least if I get mad as killer, it's at my own mistakes

There's honestly not really a way I have fun. I just kinda play it with friends only at this point, and don't focus on the game. Hard to, when every single game is an unfun fuckfest but I do try my best to. I've broken so many things playing survivor it's not even funny anymore and it's the reason why I have to take breaks from this game.

At least killer is fun. Mostly.

Just had plague, pig, legion and hubba bubba the day before yesterday. No spirit, no freddy one deathslinger tho his rarity for me makes him a fun time since I don't play against him often.

Are people sure slingers play rate is high i seen him only once in the past 15 days. You swear on the forums he was a rampant threat akin to legions launch.

Im getting weird ranks ill admit. Matchmaking seems borked at the moment. 3 friends including myself queued up and after 5 mins we got a green plague with a green bubba in the next game. Were all in red ranks bar one in high purple this makes no sense.

Playing solo survivor can be painful and is far from ballanced, especially against those killer you mentioned. How do i still have fun regardless?

Pretty much every round is either hit or miss when you play solo. Some rounds are so frustrating that you want to uninstall the game right away, but then there are the rounds where you loop the killer for several minutes, you have decent teammates and you get last second escapes or manage to safe a teammate in a very difficult scenario.

While the frustrationlevel is the highest, also the payoff can be. We are seeking for the great round that overshadows the 5 horrible rounds we had before.

I agree, minus Pyramid Head, that if the killer is playing those killers or running Ruin/Undying the game becomes incredibly unfun -- to the point where if I get multiple in a row I play another game or get up and start cleaning. But there seems to at least be enough killers that don't fall under this category to where I'm able to get enough fun out of queuing survivor and said matches are some of the most fun to be had in this game imo.

I play solo survivor and have fun. It’s the only way I play survivor. I’ve never played SWF. I play all my online games solo. GTA, red dead, ESO etc. I feel more of a sense of achievement knowing I’m doing it on my own. Even though solo survivor is team based also. If I get matched up with survivors who aren’t doing well... I just try my best and then move on.

I’m a killer main, devotion 6 and play red rank both sides. I used to only play killer but the last few months my roll has been survivor. Having great fun with it.

I don’t understand how people think it’s unfun unless they are just use to steam rolling killers with the balanced SWF.

If you want to face more than the same 5 killers over and over again. Then stop asking the devs to nerf killers. Every time someone says "Spirit is OP! Plz Nerf". That doesn't mean facing spirit will be easier. That Spirit player will use the next meta killer in line. It means you will be facing even more Freddys, Deathslingers, Nurses, PHs.

You then say "Freddy is OP! Plz Nerf" Then you face more slingers, Nurses, PHs

You say "Deathslinger is OP! Plz Nerf" you face more Nurses and PHs

You say "Nurse is OP! Plz Nerf" you face only PHs

You last say "PH is OP! Plz Nerf" then you wonder why your que times are 20 mins long. No one wants to play killer at that point.

That's just it- you work your tail off only to end up sacrificed in the end. In a gaming period of 4 hours, I'm lucky to encounter a killer MAYBE 4 times who won't use slugging and baiting/ tunneling/ camping to quickly out survivors. Even worse, in a string of ill luck, if you have the misfortune to be tunneled and (I hope this doesn't happen to you) you're downed and hooked because of weak looping/ starting next to the killer and no one comes to get you/can get you then you get depiped. I'm those 4 hours (don't say anything, I'm a decent player when not tunneled and camped out of the game) I'm lucky to escape MAYBE a grand total of 5 or 6 games, and that's being pretty generous.

I just try to do what will give me points and what will progress the team's success rate-if I see camping I will cause a distraction for an unhook, if no one else is unhooking, I will stop my gen and unhook and heal. I will go for totems. If Survivor Number 2 is on hook 2, but I'm untouched, I will take a hit to let them escape whether I'm running a SWF game or a solo game. If I know we're gonna lose, then I'm going to try my best to get everyone else as much points/survive time as I can. Killers: my recommendation is to run some solid Survivor time. Wanna know why "survivors whine"? You'll find out soon enough.

Reading this thread explains a lot. I just started this game about a month ago and have played mostly solo queue survivor. I found it fun at the beginning because I expected to lose and didn’t take it too seriously. But as I got better and started playing more seriously it’s sometimes hard to get over how frustrating teammates can be.

At first I got found and downed quickly because I didn’t know the maps and didn’t know what I was supposed to do and where to position myself. But after playing for awhile I realised there were other reasons why I was getting found and tunnelled so often. When I get tunnelled out a game, I spectate the other survivors and notice that the way they escape chases or evade the killer is by wearing dark colours and blending into the environment.

After several games I notice also that in solo queue (red ranks btw) no one touches a gen until they know someone is being chased, either because the obsession symbol is wriggling or someone has already been hit once or is about to be hooked. This blew my mind because I always thought we should be as productive as possible and get our share of chases and hooks and take our turn to run the killer. Also if you’re just going to hide and not do gens, why play the game? But nope a big chunk of players (75% in the last two days) are crouching through the map waiting for someone to get chased before touching a gen. I’m not the best looper but I also don’t expose myself to the killer on purpose, so that explained why I always got found and no one else did. (Also why the killer would always choose to chase me, a neon nea, rather than the other two blendettes)

There is the odd player who runs the killer effortlessly and many teammates who play appropriately altruistically, and those games make solo queue fun. But when that’s not the case, it can be very frustrating.

Nevertheless, solo queue is still mostly fun for me. During Christmas and the day after, the games were fantastic. Maybe only the more engaged players were playing then, but I had games back to back where everyone just knew what they were doing and took their share of the work and we all escaped without much trouble, and these were against red rank killers too. It was so much fun. Also I somehow managed to run two killers till they gave up and ran to the basement and also got my first 4 gen couple days ago. That was fun (for me, admittedly not so for the killer. But I wasn’t being toxic, and didn’t make fun of the killer so I guess it’s ok). So yea.

Even with a SWF group, it a) doesn't mean we're tryhard and b) will survive more

Lol in game that I play with buddies I died just as often. We focus on enjoying the game more that making others miserable. Also, I've had plenty of games where the killer has used tactics suck as baiting and slugging to advantage to quickly end a game. If I'm playing with friends were playing for the company, not to terrorize the community. Usually we go out of the way to unhook, distract and heal.

I am 100% with you on the useless team mates part. That's life in solo queue though. If anyone wonders why people like to swf, just spend an hour in solo queue. Its hell on earth.

But when it comes to killers, I usually always get a decent variety. Of course I see my share of Spirits, Freddys, Deathslingers. But I also see a healthy rotation of Myers, Trapper, Huntress, Oni, Pig, Doc, Bubba etc.

I feel the same way, when I play with friends (unless we're being baited/ slugged/ tunneled) we usually bs about our week, talk about what's going on in our worlds and will sometimes even act as sports announcers for the game ( this adds a lever of humor- we quite often hear "There goes 'Stache Dwight!" "I found Claudette! How did she manage to get to [a strange location not normally accessable ]?") We mostly just take it easy, even if we don't survive the point is were spending time together. The only killer that really stressed us out are Charlotte and Victor or Freddy (but only because we've faced a few back to back who've played a tad dirty).

There's counter play to every killer. The same killers/perks are played in high ranks because they are viable. Any game you play with friends is gonna be fun. It could be the most boring game in the world and you could make it fun with friends. Solo que is miserable I'll give you that. But most of the time in my experience its because of your team mates. They will DC,give up on hook, or go afk. Theres also boosted survivors who only play SWF that only know how to gen rush so when they have to loop a killer they have no idea what theyre doing. Red ranks will always be unfun everyone is sweaty.
