Is it considered douchey to flashlight after pallet stun?
I've been trying to get better at using flashlights lately because right now I suck total ass with them, and I managed to blind a killer at a pallet a couple times. I wasn't called out for it or anything, but I couldn't help but feel like a bit of a dick compounding the stuns on this poor guy. Pallet stun, then flashlight blind... So I'm just curious if it's considered a douche move to do so?

I think it could be worse. I don't play killer often for now but when it happens, I tell myself well they could have gotten a lot more distance but they chose to stay so they could blind me. The main reason to blind a killer is so they drop a survivor anyway so... use all that battery on my animation-locked bum my dude, couldn't care less.

Not at all. I don't see how using an item could ever be considered toxic.
7 -
Absolutely not.
It would be a douche move if you would tbag the killer or click your flashlight multiple times after stunning him.

I feel that it could be. I get hit with this one a lot. and it's basically free points and annoying as hell. not to mention pointless.
2 -
No, that's the entire point of flashlights. It buys you small amount of time to help you get to the next loop. And sometimes you can actually lose the killer.
The only arguably douchy thing you can do with a flashlight is clicking it constantly or in very rare circumstances have a locker setup that make you invincible untill flashlight runs out.
8 -
That's the only effective way you can use them. It's pretty much intended to work that way.

No, it's not douchey, just don't hate the killer if they choose to remove you from the match. Both are just very annoying. If I suffered through a chase, downed someone and got them to a hook, only to have it destroyed when I get to it, I will remove the saboteur from the match asap.
Blinding is annoying, but manageable. Just don't be super clicky or tbag and you should be fine.
When I play survivor, I just randomly flash my flashlight all over the place before the killer downs me. I don't do it to be toxic, just fun and have a change of pace in the match. I had some killers laugh and give me hatch when I do because they appreciated the show.

Flashlighting after a pallet stun is a safe way to earn the extra BP for killer blinds as well as give you a a moment or two to run away unseen if the killer doesn't immediately break the pallet.
0 -
You would gain more distance not flashlighting and just running, generally speaking. The only time it's gaining ground for you is if the killer is just really bad.
So in other words it serves no purpose other than farming the killer, aka yes to your question.

I mean, blinding a killer's usually more effort than it's worth outside a flashlight save.
Blinding them after a flashlight stun pretty much guarantees they're just gonna break the pallet, since it's probably what they were gonna do anyway. If it's an unsafe pallet though, getting the stun into a blind could either give you time to get away as they blindly fumble or make them use their blinded time to break the pallet, so you can get a headstart.

It's one of the douchest things a Survivor can do.
It's a free blind, completely uncountered unless you are running Lightborn. I have no other defense. It's lemon juice on the wound of already taking the pallet stun.
Pull this stunt on me and I WILL tunnel you to Oblivion and take you out out of the game as soon as possible. I don't care how many gens it costs me.

Absolutely nothing wrong with using a flashlight for blinds. Some people will say you’re just wasting time not getting distance but that’s only really an issue if you’re injured and easy to track while blind.
I honestly only ever hated being blinded at pallets because the screen gave me an instant headache but they’ve replaced the piercing bright light with the red effect which is a little easier on the eyes for sure.
I’ve considered bringing a Beamer into games to practice again because they keep changing them slightly. I used to line up my aim using my characters right should but it’s more centred now and I’ve been duffing some easy saves that practically fell into my lap.

Yeah, it's a bit rude to stun someone in an animation lock for no gain but I encourage you try it against Legion, especially if you're injured.
5 -
Pff, no, it lasts about as long as breaking the pallet, and it's just good aiming practice.
0 -
No, especially considering it gives killer an advantage cause you do not make extra distance (man i can hear you breath, do you think I'll lose you over a 2s long blindness?).
Keep in mind that in high level matches these blinds are useless in 99% of cases. The "real" benefit of flashlights comes from grasp saves [besides rather unique scenarios of wraith lightburns, hag detraps, and some cheesy plays with nurse double flashlight lightburns/spirit haunt blinds/legion tech baits]. However, flashlight saves are rare to pull off without putting your team at a disadvantage due to spending too much time on positioning yourself around the killer and his victim rather than gens. On the other hand, making it work feels like an actual accomplishment and can turn the match around.
Edit: a small piece of advice - due to the way hag's and spirit's fov behaves during their pallet break animation, both are un-blindable in the process. Don't try it against them.

Blinding at pallets is really only useful if you have Iron Will...I've lost Killers several times doing this.

No it's not. Points are points and it's safe and helps get away. It's like a killer running NOED and having survivors complain (DO BONES it's a secondary objective!) It's not the worst thing survivors can do and isn't toxic. Plus that's a good 1 or 2 seconds taken away that could've been used to save a survivor or destroy hag traps. And I'd rather be flashlight stunned at a pallet than being stunned when I'm picking up a survivor. Unless this whole comment is sarcastic then r/woosh me.

It's smart to use that combo to throw us for a loop and escape. So long as you aren't hanging around T-bagging and being cocky it's cool.

ima killer main and it not all that bad

No.

No. It's fair game.

It is absolutely toxic. I cannot think of a single behavior a Survivor can do that's more annoying. "But it's points" is not an argument. Everything in the game is points. By that logic I could skip going after Survivors by just running around the map kicking in breakable doors because "it's points".
NOED is a perk, not a behavior. You cannot compare a perk to a behavior. I have no gripes with any perks except the egregiously long grace period on Decisive Strike.
Every other flashlight move I can counterplay. I have no counterplay to a pallet stun flashlight. Open field clicky? I can look away. Survivor pickup? Look left and right first to make sure the pickup is safe, then look up on the way to the hook.
Pallet stuns are scummy, and I cannot imagine what you think is worse than an unavoidable stun AFTER an existing stun that is often accompanied by a teabag for extra sauce.

It's a normal game mechanic. It doesn't mean it's not annoying, but nothing wrong with it.
0 -
Is it annoying? Sure. Is it one of the few proper times to use a flashlight? Yes. You should only ever try to flashlight a killer while he's locked into an animation if you don't want to get hit

We can have a conversation about if it is good for the game to be designed to allow constant visual interface screws to be stacked on the one player who is in first person, but those are sins far outside what you have control over.
If it is a legitimate mechanic that exists in the game's design, use it. The only time somethimg is a dick move is if it serves no gameplay purpose (teabagging at a loop to psyche out is fine, teabagging at a gate isn't) or if it legitimately breaks the game and is an exploit.
There is also an argument that anything created via scrub culture is a dick move (ex: bringing keys just because you know survivors whined enough about moris to get em nerfed first) but even that is ok imo and blame should be laid at the developer's feet there.
Just be aware that you are putting your big boy pants on. You can't cry you got hurt after forcing someone gto play full tackle football against ya and realizing they are bigger than you.

I am very happy for survivors to burn out their flashlight at pallets when i play killer rather than save their fellow teammates with them
1 -
Why do people get mad about this? Being animation locked while someone shines a flashlight in my face is why I play killer.
1 -
It can be used in a way to confuse the killer where you are going. e.g. blind, walk past the killer when they are breaking the pallet (you start blinding them while they are breaking the pallet) - it can confuse some killers, but not all, but it is a way to use it.
It can be annoying to some people, but granted, different things can be annoying to different people. It is a game mechanic just like camping is.

Chain-stunning someone sucks, but I don't think that's the situation being described here. I think we're just talking about a blind after a stun, which, to me, is not a big deal. When I'm playing killer, I just kick the pallet in that situation and follow the survivor sounds.
0 -
not toxic but stupid unless you're in a deadzone once the pallet breaks. better off using it for vaults or pick up saves
0 -
Definitely not, especially if you don't have iron will or something, since it'll actually just give free hits to killers who are great at tracking sounds.
0 -
Yea it's pretty bad, like camping or tunnelling.
But if u can blind the killer, just keep blinding the killer.
Who cares? The entitled survivors seems to be totally on ur side.
