Ranking up
Hi! I’m super new to the DBD game and I’ve only been playing for 8 days now, but this game has taken over my life and I’ve been playing none stop.
im having trouble ranking up, I’m fixing at least 1-2 gens a game, healing and unhooking if it’s safe, sabotaging hooks if I have a toolbox add on AND engaging in chases and I don’t seem to be progressing? Have I missed something?
thank you!

Are you escaping?
!-2 gens should be good for objectives
Unhooking and Healing 2-3 survivors should be enough
Getting chased isn't going to get you a lot... but if you can lose the killer that helps... totems are an easy way to get boldness... sabo is last resort or a small boost from the start (maybe)
Survival can be done by healing yourself and escaping
Getting at least 2 iri metals will be enough to get you to purple... then it's 4 iri metals to get and maintain red rank
Can I ask your current rank?
And Welcome to the Fog...

I was escaping most of the time, but lately I’ve been getting tunnelled and haven’t got to escape from either being abandoned on the hook or dying before someone gets to me, I’m currently a rank 18 but I unhook as many people as I can if the killer isn’t camping and do the same with gens. I tend to favour self heal too but currently have no medkit add ons

Yea... Either the killer saw you as an easy target... or as a threat
Can I ask Platform?

I think I have afew tips to help you rank up. I'm a solo player at red ranks. I'm not the best player but I think these tips will aid you
Spilt up and do gens, I know this gives you less objective points however a large part of that is "refunded" by hitting great skill checks and escapeing. Besides the Killer can't be in 3 places at once.
Learn the maps, because you're new don't focus on escapeing the Killer, just try and last as long as you can against them, you have many tools to help with this.
Bring Borrowed time, seriously this perk is a god send and if you activate it, you'll be almost guaranteed a safe unhook. Which is ez points.
State of mind. Look I'll be completely honest, playing Dead By Daylight isn't always a walk in the park, you're going to have stressful moments on both sides. Knowing when to step back and take a break is key for a game like this. You'll find yourself performing better afterwards.
Good luck, hope to see you in the fog.

Thank you so much for these! Sometimes I’m lucky enough to speak next to a gen and get straight to work, other times I struggle to find them but I have a few maps memorised roughly.
I gotta see if I have Borrowed time unlocked, I currently use Spine Chill, two Steve Harrington perks and another that I’ve gracefully forgotten the name of, but it shows me the gens when one gets completed so it certainly helps me learn the maps a little better
as for taking a break, I gotta say I hit a limit today after playing straight for 8 days so I defiantly need a detox for a day to refresh myself

Happy to help any way I can:)
Spine chill is a great perk for starting off, it helps you know when stealth killers are coming your way, trumping they're stealth completely. If I might make a suggestion? Spine Chill is a great perk, however I recommend you try afew games without it. When you feel ready of course. Every killer not just stealth has atleast one way of telling you they're near. Afew examples being
Michael: Heavy Breathing, piano keys
GhostFace: Footsteps and flapping type noises.(From those things on his coat.) or if an ally becomes exposed(or even you...)
Pig: A roar before she attacks. Jigsaw boxes in the environment.
Wraith: "Gurgleing" type noises and a silhouette
And others, you'll learn the sound cues as you go.
And personally I'd put Deja vu up there in terms of underrated perks. It can prevent you're team from getting 3 gened, which causes alot of defeats especially in solo que.
Yeah braking from DBD at times is a smart move, I love this game but there are times where it gets so stressful and annoying that I can't bring myself to play it. Brakes do wonders and like I said, when you cone back after clearing yourself you may just find yourself doing better after.
