Why does Kobe’ing Exist?
I know there’s perks built around the action now, but what’s the reason it’s in the game?
Is it a psychological reason to keep survivors from losing interest in the game?

I mean the maximal chance without perks is 12%.
Also slippery meat is a decent perk, in total it's 40% chance.. but then again deliverance just needs you to unhook someone else.
Stupid thing is, if you attempt at your last try, you are on death hook now, which is stupid and should be fixed.

It's pretty frustrating to die because you've been touched once the entire game. Happens a lot. At least there's a chance, as slim as it is.

With Slippery Meat each attempt is an individual attempt, you just get more of them. So its a base 8% chance, 4 times. Which is still not great if its not boosted by luck offerings.

I know. Also we both made a mistake, in total it's actually 6 times, so your total chances are 48% actually. Since you start off with 3 attempts, 3 added, with 4% luck added to each one.

I agree on the added attempts and maybe I am misunderstanding but when you say you have a 48% chance of unhooking that is almost 50% which would be a fantastic play and should be attempted every time you can. What I am saying is its actually only an 8% chance on each attempt, which is still a low probability play even with more attempts. The % don't add because each attempt is an individual event.

One thing is, that there are situations where you have to try it because it is the only chance of keeping the game running, also if the last 2 are on hook and one of them first stage, you just waste a full minute for nothing. So a chance to speedup. And it is 4% because a higher rate would shake up the balancing. There is enough second chance perks to deny hooks, if you can rely on kobe on top, so that noone feels the need to unhook and stick on gens, it would get even worse.
@MrGrizzly @Mattie_MayhemOG multiple unrelated attempts don't multiply probability with the attempt count. the actual chance for kobe without slippery meat is ~11,5% and with slippery meat is ~39%

-chance to escape with Ivory Chalk Pouch and 3 tries = 1-(1-0.07)^3 = 19.5%
-chance to escape with Up the Ante, 3 tries = 1-(1-0.13)^3 = 34.1%
-chance to escape with Slippery Meat, 6 tries = 1-(1-0.08)^6 = 39.3%
-with all of the above (best individual setup) = 1-(1-0.2)^6 = 73.7%
-all of the above with 4 team members bringing Vigo's Jar of Salty Lips (dedicated forum offering) = 1-(1-0.29)^6 = 87.2%
-Activated deliverance = 100%
