Is this game Killer sided if the Killer has nothing to lose?

You know the type who just don't care about earning a pip and would do anything to get the 4k through any means? Be it applying Face camp, Slug, Tunnel, etc. Basically every forbidden technique in the survivor rule book and imagine an actually good killer using these stuff properly.

What are your thoughts on this?

If a killer 4k’s they’ll be guaranteed a pip whether they camp or not pretty much so i guess it’s fair game

So when you say this you must mean high level play. When every player is good and surcivor have comms. Bc an actually good killer has no problems in the current matchmaking anyway.

In tournaments for example killer are using all of these (tunnel, slugging etc) when the tournament rules allow it.

There are still only a few killer who can keep up. So yh with all of this its not killersided. For most of the killer rooster its not even enough.

Imo it makes no sense to discuss about the strength of both sides when you ignore gameplay mechanics like tunneling.

Against good teams camping/tunneling is a free win for survivors.

Slugging is only effective if people refuse to split up and don't run anti-slug perks like Unbreakable.

The game is "killer-sided" because kill rates are through the roof. Last update we had from BHVR on gameplay stats killrate was something like 70%.

We haven't had a new update recently I think the last one was sometime in April or something last year. Kill rate was 70% across the board.

Killers like to complain that the game is survivor-sided, but that's only true when a not-so-good killer goes up against a full team of SWF commandoes. That's more a skill issue and a flaw of SWF than the game being survivor-sided. There are many killer pro streamers out there who play killer day in and day out at Rank 1 against the sweatiest SWF survivors and still 4K them easy.

The game is not survivor-sided. Killers who are being beaten are just going up against better players. That's all it is. Same with survivors for the most part.

The thing is, going by the global statistics more killers are better at the game than survivors. Whether that means killer players are just more skilled than survivor players or whether the game is distinctly skewed in the killer's favor is a matter for discussion, there are compelling arguments for why a typical killer main would be more skilled than a typical survivor main -- mainly that the killer does 4x the work of a survivor every game. That's 4x more practice. While a survivor might be getting into 2 chases per match and then holding M1 the rest of it, the killer is actively chasing and tracking survivors the entire match.

But we can discuss that another time.

I wouldn't say more killers are better than survivors, but more so the killer is much easier to pick up than survivor. Devs really should base their statistics only on red ranks since lower ranks are an absolute mess.

so basically it's killer sided in ranks 20-8 and survivor sided in ranks 8-1, makes a lot of sense

I feel like in this game it's actually really hard to determine if the game is killer sided or survivor sided because every match is different and that goes for everyone.

I'm pretty sure that's objectively false.

If a Killer does nothing but gets a 4K by NOED, they'll de-pip.

Those kill rates don't count for DC's

Now those would be good to know

Currently I play on both side.

As Killer, I dont mind if each survivor bring 1 or 2 2nd chance perks. But it gone to the roof when 16 perks are all "2nd chance". This is totally limited to 4 of 16 perks for new players, combined with low skill and not understand mechanic, which makes them much easier to die.

As Survivor, its quite often to face a tunneler. Even vs Yellow rank, which is easier to 3-4k vs Purple ranks.

We can only tell the true escape rate if Devs force all player to play a single specified play style

. All 2nd chance perks vs tunneler

. All 2nd chance perks vs non tunneler

. All 2nd chance perks vs Killer meta perks non tunneler

    ...for example.

I didnt use any 2nd chance perks in last month and still able to claim from rank 13 to 8. Eventhough I died often

Man I can't empathize enough that a GOOD killer employing these strategies not some mediocre killer. That means not blindly tunneling a single person and actually use these strats when the situation calls for it.

  • zomdeath

Yeah sometimes using these strats can be useful and beneficial for a killer. If the killer is using these stratergies badly then the survivor team will almost always win. If a good killer chooses to camp you then its probably for a reason. It can be frustrating for you if you are on hook I understand.

There are some friendly killers out there who farm with survivors to get bloodpoints, could be against the game's ToS but people still do it. Therefore, when it comes to matches like those it's equal sided since both parties are messing around the match just to farm bloodpoints and finishing challenges faster as they do so. What needs to be fixed next is the hit range for killers like The Pig, you're a few 3 feet apart from her and she can actually land a hit, could be just a hit validation type of thing either that or must be a strange hitbox from some survivors, not entirely sure since I'm not a developer. I've heard from different sides on how this game can either be "in favor of the killer/survivor" which can be truthful to some degree, some maps are just badly designed; hooks being real close to one another while there's a possibility of survivors getting gen locked.

Furthermore, some maps are pretty balanced and new players just need to adjust and remember the map layout knowing where to go and what not to do like avoiding deadzones.

Same take, I have atleast a 90% or so 4k rate and I don't even use ruin, undying or pop. People talking about balancing so the killer can win 'playing fair' and the likes, not camping/tunneling/slugging - they never seem to think that you are supposed to play like this and if the game were rebalanced in this manner, the 'sweaty' people playing in this manner would win super easily. I've not lost a game other than AFK Wraith in like 2 months now, although I'm not playing nearly as much as i used to since Chapter 18 was such a disappointment, shows the game is not so imbalanced if you're decent - reason I've not lost? Not went vs a good team in that timeframe, rank inflation just gradually gets worse, crossplay definitely lowered the level aswell, no idea who these people are claiming to often go vs good survs when it just never ever happens for me.

Now there is one streamer I see regularly claim to go vs 'the 1%' - nearly all players I see said streamer put in this category are anywhere from below average-average players in my view and are in most cases pretty bad and easy to beat, - now funnily enough, said streamer is clearly worse than me at the game and while above average, far from actually good, so the whole 'sweatsquad' and 'survivor sided game' thing could be due to perception from the player's ability, as the matchmaking system is so god awful you're basically able to play against literally everyone excluding mostly a protected rank 20-15 bracket

  • lowiq

You mean the same streamer that only loses to four 1 Man SWFs?

My take on the game is that DBD rewards you for being good - especially on killer since you don't have to worry about teammates. There's no other PVP game where you can consistently have a 95%+ win rate, even if you're hard smurfing. At the end of the day, whether you're killer or survivor, this may make the game seem unbalanced if you are not "good", but a lot of perceived balance issues are actually due to players who lack skill getting screwed by matchmaking.

  • Xpljesus
    Xpljesus Member Posts: 395

That would be the one, and I do agree with your perception although I'd say that the avg teammates are so bad that there are pretty often solo games it is just not possible to hardcarry enough no matter how good you are as an individual, killer ability is clearly rewarded though, and good killers can win tens of games in a row, and I've seen as many as 213 on Huntress, 186 IIRC on Nurse but could easily see that rising at some stage

Breaking all the survivor rules doesn't do much for you in reality. It just makes an even playing field, because survivors are so oppressive as it is.

The problem with kill rates is that unlike survivor, killer cannot safely just quit a game and move on to the next. You have to take a DC penalty.

I'm honestly curious how the rates would change if killer had the option to give up at anytime without DC penalty. Like if there was a nuts to this staircase in the basement that let the killer leave like how survivors can one hook suicide.

No matter how hard a killer gets skunked they got to wait it out until gens are done, then they still will usually have to wait out the full egc timer. This means even in the most frustrating of circumstances may result in one spite filled camp out during egc.

Then you also have instant suicide survivors who bail the second anything happens they don't like, including the map/killer is something they don't like or they tried to jump back and forth on pallet during a stun and killer had enduring.

Then finally you have "Hey look bubba isn't even trying to hide they are right outside my kindred range and you are still going for the save? Awesome." situations. That's not killer sided, that's just troll/idiot play.

Its why I don't trust killrate stats. They can't exclude horseshit like that.

Am I saying the game is X sided? No, I'm just saying that data isn't reliable.
