Am I missing something? How is it actually useful?

Well, I often shoot for 12 hooks in my games so this is extremely helpful in this regard.

  • So you have to spend less thought process making the connection of name to player's character to how many hooks they have had yourself.

It's just a bit easier for people to keep tabs on things as killer.

This will be especially useful to newer killers in the game, but many will benefit from this.

To make some plays, sometimes I forget the survivor I left on the ground is actually on death hook and not hooking them is actually more detrimental than anything.

Best way to win is to eliminate survivors quickly, so you usually don't want to chase or hook survivor who's not being hooked before. You just choose two and try to kill them asap and one hook the rest

It’s not. It’s presence is there to constantly make you feel like you haven’t hooked the survivors 12 times total or 3 times each.

Its not meant to be there to help you.

  • Oh haha you're right. Well scratch all that then yeah.

Though, it would still be useful for like....emblem reasons maybe I guess? In case you are not sure or lost track and wanted to get a little more out of it I guess?

But yeah, if it doesn't help with each survivor than not much use outside of that.

For me personally it would be useful for good vibe games where I play and chase normally, 1-2 hook everyone but don’t plan on killing anyone. Meme matches too so nobody dies by accident before a classic slug race.

What it’s actually useful for though is knowing which survivors are closest to death.. if you see multiple survivors and have to choose which chase to take and one of them has been 1 hooked or not hooked vs another on death hook then the counter will help you stay on top of things a bit easier. Things like that.

I mean, when I play killer I always have a mental countdown of how many times each survivor has been hooked, so this hook count was redundant and omitting how many times the survivor has been hooked to the killer is simply redundant. I mean, if you really have memory issues, you could simply play the game with a notepad at your side. It really makes no sense hiding something that is that easy to count.

The Killer doesn't get hook information about each Survivor, we only get a hook total count.

I'm interested to see as to whether if someone goes second stage if they will have a 2 hook counter or a 1 still

It's not useful at all. It's there to encourage Killers to hook more often. Now if you slug the hook counter makes it seem like you're not actually winning. Like what is this, just give us individual hook counters for each Survivor and be done with it.

It is how bhvr want you to play, nothing more.

12 hooks is legit impossible against decent survs.
