Why do we lose item addons even after escaping?

The previous times i escaped i lost my batteries for my flashlight, why do we lose addons now?

    Need to start new threads about all changes that happened since last time you play? Killer lose addons, survivors lose addons. This is fair. A lot of other things is not fair in this game so be happy about this.

    It’s so that the game has an actual grind part to it, but also to make it so people can’t use OP addons back to back. If you have a free perk spot, consider leveling up Ace Visconti to try and get his Ace in the Hole as it gives you addons on items when looting chests, and let’s you keep addons if you escape.

    You don't lose items, you lose add-ons. Unless it's a bug I'm unaware of.
